I'm starting CJ Spiller this week... (1 Viewer)

Not at all. I think a number of people are starting him this week. Fred Jackson is on his way back being healthy, but it looks like Spiller's going to start. With the preseason he had, there's not reason not to if he's your best option. Especially if it's a PPR.

Miami's D is overrated. I am not sure what you want but I can see a hundo and a score.

I am starting CJ Spiller this week with confidence in one of my leagues. Am I nuts...maybe! Crazy like a fox...
why would you be nuts? I am sure lots of owners wish they had Spiller as an option to play tomorrow. Esp. playing at home and Fred Jax limited if playing at all he makes for a very nice start and more so in PPR leagues. I certainly can't think of 20 better RBs to play than CJ.

It's a PPR and my thinking is that with Edwards at QB we could be seeing a lot of dump-offs.

I am a huge Bills fan and I cannot imagine that Trent would ever Dump-off. Ok you win, Spiller is the guy. Trent will dump off and in PPR I have to think that he will be great.

Aside from Karlos Dansby, the Dolphins defense is all pretty young, and the Bills line is one of the best run-blocking lines in football, and it looks like this game could involve a heck of a lot of carries for both teams.

He's been named the starter, and it's actually possible that he returns a kick for a TD as well.

Then again, my other options are James Davis, Donald Brown, and Anthony Dixon...so I'm not exactly making a bold call by starting him.

I'm starting Spiller over the following on my team this week as a sure RB2/flex without a second thought...

S.Smith(Car)

A. Bradshaw

H. Ward

H.Nicks

C. Williams

Start him and don't think twice

Are you really wanting convinced or are you looking for kudos for doing what is probably the right thing on your roster? ;) He's the starter. If you need to start him, do so.

I made the mistake of not starting Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson in their first regular season game when I had them in the same league. Won't do that with CJ Spiller. He's in at RB2 over Beanie Wells, McCoy, and Portis.

Right now I have Forte in my lineup over Spiller in one of my leagues. Forte has a good matchup against the Lions so I'm pretty sure I'll ride with him.

C.J.Spiller: The health status of Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch is a little bit fuzzy right now but we do know that Spiller seems to be healthy and has looked pretty good in the preseason for whatever that is worth. People are going to overlook the Buffalo OL but right now they have a lot more chemistry than the Miami DL which features Kendall Langford(3rd year-run specialist), Randy Starks(1st year at NT), and Odrick a rookie from Penn State who was basically handed a starting job. At ILB, Dansby will want to show he was worth the $40+ million Miami ponied up, but the OLBs for Miami are a big mystery right now and Spiller might be able to get loose along the sides for a couple big gains in this one. Miami was good at shutting the run down early in the preseason but Spiller having a decent 1st game out of the box would not surprise me. Is Spiller a must start? Absolutely not, but this matchup is decent and he could make a nice flex option this week if he can catch a few balls.

Hopefully my "insane" reverse strategy of taking WR-WR-QB-TE pays off with C.J. Spiller being one of my committee backs. He's for sure in my starting lineup out of necessity.

Jesus, Voodoo is on here!!?? This question is moot. This dude is a fantasy legend. Good to see you bro.... Spiller it is.

How are the Spiller owners feeling two hours before kickoff? I have him in over Grant & McCoy and am hoping the right decision has been made. It's easy to put in him the lineup early in the week, but now here we are. Final thoughts?

I think all 3 of those guys should be decent this week. Why would you want to bench Grant who has a proven track record and is usually good for 12-15+ points a week over a rookie sight unseen? Can you explain the thought process there and what makes you lean that way? I'm not picking on you at all, just trying to follow the logic or information you have that pushes you in that direction. Thanks

I'm going with Spiller and Bradshaw over McCoy, due to my perception that both have higher upsides, and because I feel good about the rest of my starters to the point that I'm willing to gamble a bit.

Not looking back with spiller and best over shonn green. I feel really good about it...

I'm starting him as well, 12-team league and I'm starting him in place of Beanie Wells as I wasn't quick enough to book end Wells with Hightower. Oh well. Still, dude is a starting RB for a team that likes to run. It's not like you're reaching and going out on the limb starting Sam Bradford over Peyton Manning here.

These are exactly the thoughts I've been having the past few days, that's why I'm checking the Spiller pulse this morning. Dodds has him higher then Grant and McCoy this week but in most rankings they're both in the 10-15 range for RB rankings in week 1. It looks like Spiller is the main man for everything in Buffalo, where there are games when Grant can disappear when Rodgers and Kuhn steal the goal line carries.

Agreed. It's all speculation right now, but I think he'll be fine and hope he has a great year.I'm starting him as well.

Sitting Spiller for Best, Forte and Harrison. Best is best, can't sit Forte vs. the Lions and Harrison is a safer play if not spectacular. I love CJ, but I bought into others advice earlier in the week who said CJ really had to prove his press releases, whereas Harrison already has a track record. I'm giving Spiller W1 to show me.

Interesting - I'm actually starting Spiller and Harrison over Forte - same players but a different conclusion. I'm taking a wait and see approach on the Chicago offense and think the Detroit game is a trap. Good luck to both of us!

I am also afraid of the "trap", but Forte had two outstanding games in his miserable '09, both vs. DET. Can't overlook that.

Good luck with Spiller. Hope he blows sky high. I still have plenty of time to reap.

I like Spiller this week, even though I wouldn't agree with the Bills being one of the best run-blocking OL in the NFL. I went with him over Bradshaw this week. I'd have gone Spiller over Forte.

Told myself I wouldn't make the same mistake this year...that is to give credence to Dodds' game projections...but some fools never learn-- I started Spiller.

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes....

Wish i had spent more time in the "I'm starting McFadden" thread than this one! Lynch and Jackson looked like they're not going quietly into that good night, that's for sure.

The cool thing is how easy the Bills' schedule looks over the next 3 weeks!

So what happened to Spiller? I didn't see the game. Was he ignored in the offense, or exceedingly bad, or both?
He was featured heavily in the first quarter. He had three plays in the first half where he was just tripped up preventing big gains. The Bills split the RB workload between Spiller, Jackson and Lynch the rest of the game, although much of the second half was played from the shotgun spread offense.
