we all knew they would screw up their draft position by winning some games. rinse and repeat,The idea that this is gonna tun the season around(I know the broadcasters were just trying to keep things interesting) is just absurd. They're not gonna go 7-1 down the stretch.
My friend who is traveling in Vietnam and couldn't watch the game asked me about the game. I said, "It was a tale of two halves".Definitely a tale of 2 halfs.
1st half was absolutely comical - begging to be buried.
2d half - they gave a glimpse of what could have been.
I agree its likely too late but draft position doesnt matter at this point - id rather string together some wins as they are coming anyway so might as well root for a miracle and the last WC spot. Only concern is if they make it or close that gives Woody reason to bring it all back next year which is a mistake.

im not even tracking right now - unless they start stacking wins they are toast. If they win the next 2 before the bye then ill start paying attention. We all agree this team is not built for tanking/high draft pickDon’t look now but the Colts are going to be 4-5 and 3-3 within the AFC. Cincinnati matches that, but they’re 2-3 in conference with a brutal schedule upcoming. The Jets aren’t too far away from beginning to smell the possibility. Let all these teams falter and hope to go on a run. AZ, Miami (2), Jax (they’re a lot better than their record), and Buffalo are our tough match-ups. We need to go 6-2. Need to beat Miami once and figure out a way to beat Indy, AZ, Jax, LA Rams, and Seattle. I’m not counting out the possibility of beating Buffalo, either.

If the Jets had a top 5 pick, what position would they even target?
Regardless they need to draft a QB next year. If they run it back - let him sit for an entire year so they dont throw a kid to the wolves for once.Yeah, no point chearing for losses now. They're gonna run it back next year so they're not drafting a qb.

I'm not sure I can deal with them running this mess back. That just may push me off the cliff. Rodgers is already showing serious decline and this staff is hot garbage. If they run it back
I think the only way they dont run it back is a complete disaster of a season such as top 5 pick - unless Rodgers wilfully retires which he may do. It would likely waste more than just 1 season as what coach/GM in his right mind would want to come into that kind of disasterIf there's a chance of the Jets "running it back", then I will root for them to lose out just to avoid yet another wasted season next year.
I was already depressed about daylight saving time coming back and now you lay this on me.I think the only way they dont run it back is a complete disaster of a season such as top 5 pick - unless Rodgers wilfully retires which he may do. I could be wrong but Woody is gettin up there and has not shown any patience with a real rebuild....running it back and saying it just took time to gel may be the easiest if they finish somewhat strong.I was already depressed about daylight saving time coming back and now you lay this on me.I think the only way they dont run it back is a complete disaster of a season such as top 5 pick - unless Rodgers wilfully retires which he may do. I hope they make the playoffs and then I guess they should probably run it back but as someone that thinks 7-10 is about their ceiling based on where we are and what we know I can’t see running that back - Rodgers one year older and that much more comfortable throwing his weight around? No thanks.
I was hoping Rodgers would retire. I wouldn’t blame him for not doing so strictly for financial reasons but maybe they could buy him out or just cut him.
Obviously the offense played well this past week but it’s not like Rodgers was lighting it up. Wilson made two great (one amazing) catches on bad passes for one thing.
great - Jets stink in prime time and I hate going to them!Jets Colts game booted from Sunday Night Football to the 1:00 pm slot.
That’ll learn ‘em.Jets Colts game booted from Sunday Night Football to the 1:00 pm slot.
you are not wrong, but at this point, the Jets likely can only afford to lose one more time. after that, their fate is likely in the hands of others more than it is in their own hands.Don’t look now but the Colts are going to be 4-5 and 3-3 within the AFC. eta* Seattle and LA are tough games also. They’re just not Detroit-level tough.
MWill was a nonfactor and once Adams came even less. Id rather find some run for Corley as a 3rd WR.Yeah, the reality is that if they SOMEHOW thread the needle and make some sort of miraculous run in the 2nd half (they wont) it wont be because Williams is on the team. He and Rodgers just didn't mesh and 90% of the targets are gonna go to the big 2 anyway.
Guessing they think they can survive without another big body until Lazard comes back. Getting a 5th rounder is a pretty excellent return.
I’ll always have lasting memories of his long time spent here.Mike Williams to the Steelers for a 5th. Never really had a role so glad they flipped him
I think the only way Cohen does that is if he knows he can move the team to Flushing and mesh it into Cohen's World with the eventual casino license.Wondering if Woody will do another ambassador tour again - if so he would need to relinquish control of the team. Would we be looking at Chris Johnson 2.0? That wasn't exactly any better...cough Adam Gase - maybe uncle Stevie can make Woody an offer he cant refuse....please!
joe douglas in a nutshell…..mwill’s corpse for $10mill and a trade up for corley’s ghost.MWill was a nonfactor and once Adams came even less. As for the Johnsons - if he doesnt sell if he gets appointed to another position then he never will. His brother is as clueless as Woody. Just need to pray that at some point they get lucky and pick someone who knows what they are doing. Problem is unless they wipe the slate no one is going to come in here with Arod running the showTime for the Johnsons to sell the club. Woody might go back to the UK as ambassador? WTF
Chris was the one who gave us Gase? I can’t even keep up with these stories. They’re ludicrous.
Joe D biffed on a QB during COVID. That shouldn’t be his only lasting legacy. They built an excellent defense for two years and never could figure out the offensive side of the ball. Now that they have those pieces in place to be adequate, the defense is merely adequate.
Too bad about that.
Hey, Cincinnati lost to drop to 4-6 last night. A win in Zona and we’re ahead of Cincinnati. Indy gets Buffalo, right? We’re looking at the possibility that the Jets (with a win that won’t be easy in AZ) are eighth in the conference by the end of the weekend.
Denver gets KC for their first of two with them. Buckle your chin straps, boys. We’re going headlong into this.

as an fyi, woody bought the jest in 2000 and martin and mawae were already rostered i believe as parcells FA signings. no idea how this franchise drafted revis. they generally draft guys that are out of the league after 2-3 seasons. woody will spend money, but he just can’t hire competent people. with this team now needing a franchise qb, new GM, new coach and under likely absentee ownership, it’s only going to get worse. 2 division titles in 64 years. i mean, even blind squirrels have better odds of finding nuts. The results from Tuesday's presidential election will shape this nation for at least the next four years. It could also shape the future of New York Jets football, too.
Jets employees are preparing for team owner Woody Johnson to again take a political post with the Donald Trump administration, sources say. Nothing has been explicitly stated to the team regarding Johnson's next move, but a team source said "everyone is assuming" a Johnson appointment of some sort will take place.
League sources tell CBS Sports it will greatly benefit the Jets and their offseason plans to know as early as possible whether their boss will actually be their boss for the next few years. In a matter of a couple months, the Jets could be in search of both a new head coach and general manager, not to mention what will happen with Aaron Rodgers and his future.
"The first question a candidate is going to ask is, 'who's the boss?'" a source said.
Johnson served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom during the first Trump administration, ceding the Jets operations to his brother, Christopher. In January 2017, Trump announced his plan for Johnson to take the post. The senate confirmed Johnson in August. He attended one Jets preseason game and then went across the pond for the next 3 1/2 years.
Christopher helmed the team in those years, hiring Joe Douglas as general manager and Robert Saleh as head coach. A source said Woody Johnson was not involved "much at all" on the Douglas hiring in June 2019, which was well into the heart of his ambassadorship. Saleh was hired in January 2021, just days before Johnson would leave his post. A source says Johnson was "aware of the direction the Robert hiring was going because he was returning."
Woody Johnson fired Saleh five games into his fourth season as head coach. Saleh had a career record of 20-36 with the Jets. Douglas has an executive record of 30-62 heading into this week's game against the Cardinals. Asked earlier this week about his future while on an expiring contract, Douglas said "whatever happens, happens."
We all know that Woody Johnson is making Dan Rooney roll in his grave. For those that don't know who Dan Rooney is, he's the former owner of the Steelers who led the team to five Super Bowl appearances before his election to the Hall of Fame in 2000. Dan Rooney is also the former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland during the Obama's first term as President. At least Dan Rooney kept the Steelers functional during his tenure of ownership. What has Woody Johnson done? He ruined the careers of two former Packers quarterback legends and has had too many head coaches to count. Also, let's talk about the number of guys that are in the Hall of Fame. The Rooneys may have a whole roster full of Hall of Famers. Woody Johnson has produced only 3 Hall of Famers: Curtis Martin, Kevin Mawae and Darrelle Revis. Joe Klecko doesn't count because his career was over by the time Woody Johnson started his tenure of ownership. The point of what I'm trying to say is that if the Jets could find an owner who could run the team the Rooneys have run the Steelers since their inception in 1933, then maybe they'd be competing for the Super Bowl year in and year out!
Just saying.

How does one respond to this other than saying that this has been covered in this thread ad nauseam and you’ve added nothing.
Remember that speech from Billy Madison? About how that was the dumbest thing the person had ever heard and that nobody was better for hearing it?
Imagine that.
Just saying.
I'd be willing to bet your children's life on it that Rodgers retires.
