Injuries & Busts (1 Viewer)

I can't ever remember a year with this many injuries and busts, especially among the consensus top picks at each position (RB/WR).

RB's:

S. Jackson - slow start, then injured

L. Johnson - aweful start, now injured - status unknown

F. Gore - started ok, tailed off and now injured

S. Alexander - has not played well all year, now may be injured

Rudi - been injured most of the year

T. Henry - started ok, has tailed off big time due to nagging injuries

L. Maroney - injured half the year so far & ineffective the rest

R. Brown - great first half, out for year

WR's:

S. Smith - has had a few good weeks, but QB play has killed him

C. Johnson - 3 TD's and now possibly injured

L. Fitzgerald - 1 TD to date

A. Boldin - injuries & inconsistent QB play has hurt him

J. Walker - injured most of the year

A. Johnson - injured most of the year

M. Harrison - started slow & now injured

Is this year out of the ordinary or should we come to expect increased turnover in top consenus picks each year?

It's the strangest year I've seen of 17 years of doing this.

I've had injuries all 9 weeks so far, which is more than anyone in my league has had for a full season.

Usually the running backs come through in the 2nd half but we'll see what happens.

I agree, odd year. I can't remember having to go to my bench as much in any other season.

its not only odd in the pros, but also in College..a VERY strange season !

its very wierd. in the league i thought i drafted well in my RB's are LJ, TJones, & CBenson, who all suck. In my other league i thought i was iffy at the start of the season at the rb position with addai, lynch, and peterson, and i'm in first place!

You left ROY off that list. He's a bust in my book. Who knew. Drafted Steve Smith and Roy Williams (and S. Moss) as my WRs and now I am going to have to bench them for G. Jennings and H. Ward. Unbelievable.

I don't know if Id call Roy-W a bust yet. He had 1 monster game and 2 very good ones. He had 77 yards last week, but other than that I hear what you're saying. Thats at 3-4/8, which aint terrible for a WR as they can be inconsistent. To see all the guys the OP listed though, and to know Roy-W has produced better and is still healthy and in a good situation, I think you need some optimism. KJ I think should help take some pressure off of as, as should CJ back. They were up by so much this week that there was no need to run.Just look at Evans owners. 3 weeks ago he would of been at the top of that list, now he's nowhere near it.I still think Roy will end up a Top 15 WR by years end.

There are a few guys that pretend their studs but can't find the end zone this year as well.

The fantasy numbers are awfully "top" heavy at a couple of positions.

Yeah, welcome to my nightmare.

Every season is crazy. Last season people were saying how crazy it was that Berrian was a top wideout, etc... Every seaosn in the NFL is unpredictable. Just too many variables to account for.

For instance, this season I have the top scoring team in one league. I scored a league record in points this week (just switched to PPR this season), I also scored the highest points in week 1. I currenly only have 3 players on the roster that I had in week 1. Randy, Vinatieri, and Feely. So I have been lucky enough to start hot and divest of players at their peaks. But my roster that was so hot in week 1 wouldn't have done very well this week. I had Rex Grossman, now I have Big Ben. Started with Maroney, Portis, and Ahman....now I have Westbrook and ADP. Started with Randy, Reggie Wayne, and Steve Smith....now i have Randy, Lee, and Shaun McDonald....etc.

Point is, you have to move with the trends and believe what you are seeing. Derek Anderson is a great example. Lee Evans languished on waiver wires in early October and I don't believe there's been a better receiver since. Frank Gore never got going. Joseph Addai has been great even though Gore was often drafted ahead of him.

It's in constant motion and you have to have the hot hand heading into the playoffs. It's buy-buy-buy on Bengals and Bills right now because of their plumb schedules. I'd divest of guys like FWP because they hit a brick wall in the playoffs. Obviously you have to get good value, but you have to have an eye on the future. Of course it help to be in position to not have to scrap to get into the playoffs too.

I agree every season is crazy, but I have never seen anything close to what has happened this year with regards to elite players turning into busts, plus the highest number of injuries I can ever recall.

Plus the Lions are winning..... :lmao: Travis Henry, Willie Parker, Roy Williams :)

I seem to suffer a ton of injuries every year. This year is no exception.

Starting RBs are rudi johnson and maroney, both got hurt. I drafted morris to try to protect myself in case of injury, and morris is now on IR. Thankfully I drafted Kevin Jones and I can stick him in the lineup. WRs are Andre Johnson and Tory Holt. Holt was actually the big worry for me but he has stayed healthy. AJ has only played 2 weeks or something. The good news is I drafted Tom Brady and the Patriots team defense, so I'm still in first place.

I came out of the draft with Alexander, S. Smith, Portis and J. Walker as my 1st 4 picks and I thought I was set. Only Portis gets in my lineup anymore. Needless to say - my team blows and I'm 3-6.

Funny thing was the guy in front of me grabbed Gore and he hasn't been much better than SA.

In two of my leagues the same guy got FWP in round 1 and Maroney in round 2 - that hasn't worked out too well either.

Yep - strange year.

I forgot to add to this that I also drafted Todd Heap and we went down with an injury. I grabbed Packers TE Donald Lee to fill in. And to fill in for Andre Johnson I got Chiefs rookie WR Dwayne Bowe, who just went down this weekend with a hamstring. Now I'm using James Jones there.

more then most season, all of our FF skills are being tested......this year it can't be done simply at the draft....we have all probably had to use our trading skills and work the WW more then ever.......which can be kind of fun if you can keep your head above water......have made more trades this year then almost all past years combined........I have had to go into salvage the season mode in a couple of leagues thanks to (SJax).......pulled off a few trades a couple of weeks ago that have kept me in it (Brees, Colston, K Jones)......keep working and when it comes to the playoffs......JUST GET IN BABY ....because after that you never know what can happen...

4 player keeper league start 2 QB's (6pts all TD's)

my keepers - Larry Johnson, Frank Gore, Matt Leinart, Vince Young
