Is Carson Palmer underrated? (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Carson Palmer (shoulder) is "improving," and could throw "this week or next."

That's all good and well, but Palmer's outlook remains rather vague. The Cardinals are on bye this week, giving Palmer seven extra days to heal up for Week 5's showdown with the Broncos. He should be considered week to week, and a tenuous hold in 12-team leagues as byes start creeping in.

Rotoworld:

Carson Palmer (shoulder) "tossed" the ball off to the side at Tuesday's practice.

Palmer will throw again on Wednesday, and coach Bruce Arians hopes he'll be back for next Wednesday's practice. The Cardinals are on their bye week. They take on the Broncos in Week 5. Palmer is battling a nerve that won't "wake up."

Carson Palmer - QB - Cardinals

Carson Palmer says his shoulder is feeling "much, much better" and is close to being back to 100 percent.

Palmer has been dealing with a nerve situation in his neck that has forced him to miss the past two starts. He's undergone "tons of treatment" and even tossed the ball off to the side at Tuesday's practice. The Cardinals are on their bye week, but it's looking promising for Palmer to start Week 5 against the Broncos.

Rotoworld:

According to FOX's Jay Glazer, Carson Palmer (shoulder) could be back as soon as Week 6.

Palmer met with Peyton Manning's nerve specialist on Friday and "they think they've finally got that nerve to release." It represents a "breakthrough" in a frustrating situation for Palmer. Glazer says that barring any setbacks, the Cardinals believe Palmer could be back for Week 6, or Week 7 at the latest. Note that in Weeks 6-10, the Cardinals get to face a dream schedule: WAS, OAK, PHL, DAL, STL.

Rotoworld:

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Carson Palmer (shoulder) must get in one full practice to play in Week 6 against the Redskins.

If Palmer needs a new nerve, he has some willing donors at Rotoworld headquarters. We'd love to save all the Michael Floyd shares. Reports Sunday indicated Palmer recently experienced a "breakthrough," and could start as soon as Week 6, or Week 7 "at latest." With Drew Stanton coming off a concussion, the Cards will do everything possible to get Palmer ready to face Washington.

Rotoworld:

Carson Palmer (shoulder) threw on Tuesday.

Coach Bruce Arians says Wednesday will be critical in Palmer's evaluation. After throwing last Tuesday, Palmer's nerve flared up, causing a setback. The Cardinals are hoping it doesn't happen again and Palmer can practice Thursday or Friday. Expect Arizona to do everything to get Palmer ready for Week 6.

Carson,

Get better soon.

Sincerely,

Michael Floyd

Bruce Arians no longer concerned about Carson Palmer

Rotoworld:

Coach Bruce Arians said Carson Palmer (shoulder) "felt good" on Monday, and it "looks like the worst is behind him."

Palmer suggested after Sunday's win over Washington that he wasn't quite out of the woods, but it sounds like he woke up Monday and felt improved. Palmer will be a stream-worthy QB1 for the next month in matchups with the Raiders, Eagles, Cowboys, and Rams. He should be snapped up in 12-team leagues.

Anyone rolling with Palmer ROS?
yes, and with confidence.just traded for him..ROS is a cakewalk. fantasy playoffs look enticing..

should easily produce top 6 QB numbers for the next month with games against Raiders Eagles Cowboys Rams.

then 2 games against Lions and Seahawks, so it's a bit of a bumpy road there, then Falcons,Chiefs, Rams, Seahawks, Niners..

Suddenly, I dont fear the Seahawks as much they don't look as dominant on defense..

but you're looking at 6 potentially easy games..

hey, I have Matt Ryan, who is struggling and will likely continue to do so till week 10 when the schedule gets easier..

in the meantime, Palmer should thrive..QBBC if you will..or streaming ? lol

Yes. Had drafted along with Ryan. Dropped and just picked back up. Starting this week vs Oakland because don't like Ryan at Baltimore. Will use week 9 during Ryan bye too.

This guy is solid when he's healthy. He's going to produce in fantasy with this pass happy offense and horrible secondary.

Rotoworld:

Coach Bruce Arians says Carson Palmer's shoulder issue is now a thing of the past.

Palmer has resumed lifting weights with his right (throwing) shoulder after not doing so for five weeks. He's been a full-go at practices and said he rarely thinks about the injury anymore. Fully healed, Palmer is certainly in play as a QB1 in a home game against the Eagles' burnable corner duo Sunday. When these two teams played last year, Palmer threw for 301 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 24-21 loss at Philly.

Rotoworld:

Carson Palmer said coach Bruce Arians' offense is designed to spread the ball around.

"I've been in offenses where the majority of the plays are designed to go to one guy," Palmer said. "This system is not designed to go to the 'X' or the 'Z' or the 'Y.' It depends on the coverage." Palmer hit nine different pass catchers against Oakland last week, and connected with 11 and eight different receivers in his first two starts of the season. The emphasis on spreading the ball around has led to disappointing seasons for Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, who are both on pace to fall below their statistical output from last season. Unless something changes, Arizona's offensive philosophy makes Floyd nothing more than an upside WR2, while Fitzgerald is a WR3 moving forward.

Ppg right now, he is top 6 in my league. I still here people referring to him as a borderline QB1. So, yes, still underrated.

Rotoworld:

Profootballtalk.com reports the "signs are currently pointing to" Carson Palmer signing a contract extension "in the very near future."
Palmer turns 35 in late December and is technically under contract through the 2015 season, but his deal voids five days after Super Bowl 49. After a slow start in Bruce Arians' system last season, Palmer has rebounded to throw multiple TD passes in 10 of his last 13 games, with a combined 25:10 TD-INT ratio over that span. We suspect the Cardinals would settle on a three- or four-year deal with Palmer worth in the range of $15 million per season.

Signs an extension:

On Friday afternoon, Mike Florio reported that the Cardinals and quarterback Carson Palmer could agree to a contract extension soon.

Soon didnt take long. The Cardinals announced a bit later on Friday afternoon that they have signed Palmer to a three-year extension through the 2017 season. .

Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports reports the payout is $50 million, although there arent any details about how the deal is structured in terms of guaranteed money and injury protection at this point. Palmer could have become a free agent after the season, which was apparently something the Cardinals didnt want to risk.

Palmers season was interrupted by an injured nerve in his right shoulder, but hes played well since being back in the lineup and has posted his best numbers since his early days in Cincinnati. Palmers first year in Arizona got off to a rocky start, but hes thrown 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while the Cardinals have gone 11-2 in his starts since the midpoint of the 2013 season.

With Palmer off the market, Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer stands as the most attractive of the potential free agent quarterbacks. His record as a starter over the last two years is almost as good as Palmers, which will make for some interesting decisions in Cleveland if things keep going well for him over the remainder of the season.

I'd feel so great about winning my league if I wouldn't have cut Palmer after he was out a few weeks with the nerve injury..Perfect fit for that offense.

The Cardinals believe Carson Palmer tore his left ACL in Sunday's Week 10 win over the Rams.
Palmer will have further testing Monday to confirm the diagnosis, but multiple outlets are reporting the ligament tear. It's a devastating blow to a 8-1 team that will now have to turn to Drew Stanton. Palmer, 34, was immobile but was operating Bruce Arians' vertical passing scheme well and just signed a three-year, $50M contract extension this week. An ACL tear would, of course, end Palmer's season. He previously tore the ACL and MCL in the same knee nine years ago.

Rotoworld:

Carson Palmer - QB - Cardinals

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians plans to use more no-huddle offense this season.

"We can play real fast now," said Arians, who didn't use no-huddle beyond two-minute drills last season. The no-huddle offense can be effective in the NFL from a "rhythm" standpoint, while also preventing the defense from making substitutions. In Andre Ellington and rookie David Johnson, the Cards have two versatile backs capable of excelling in the no-huddle. More plays from scrimmage could also be a boon to Carson Palmer's fantasy stats.

Not to keep beating on Palmer, but he ranked 14th in PPG last year, 23rd in PPG in 2013, and 21st in PPG for 2013-2014 combined. For whatever reasons, he's missed 30 games over his career and will be 36 during the season. I haven't exactly followed the Cardinals closely this off season, were there many upgrades on offense to lead people to believe Palmer has a better offense to work with this year?

If you remove the last game he was hurt in (where he scored 8 points and left early obviously), he was QB6 in many of my leagues up until that week.

Improved offensive line and hopefully between that and D. Johnson an improved run game. Jon Brown gets another year in the offense. Fitz has certainly regressed to a veteran possession receiver role, but having a guy like 2013 Reggie Wayne or a 2014 Steve Smith is very good for QBs, even if those receivers themselves aren't fantasy assets.

All told, I think Palmer has a shot at being a top 10 QB. Great value you plan to draft QBs late. Consider a Palmer/Eli or a Palmer/Bradford platoon. That's, what, your 12th and 13th round instead of taking Matt Ryan in the 7th? Seems okay to me...

2 big injuries are responsible for most of those missed games. But yeah, not denying there's risk there. I mean we haven't seen him play since he got hurt. But all reports is that he's on track. If can get him late, he's worth a shot.
