Is it me, or has this become far more prevalent recently? (1 Viewer)

"Don't grumble, give a whistle!"
It seems to me that this year during the playoffs we have more defenders- in their frenzy to dislodge the ball from the ball carriers hands- ripping at it after the player is down. I'm half expecting a call/penalty/fight of some sort to follow.

Amiwrong?

:crickets:

I know, I know- I couldn't find video of it, either... :kicksrock:

This has been going on for a few years now. Defensive players are taught to rip at the ball more than ever. They even do so at the expense of not making a good tackle, which is not good technique IMO, unless you're playing from way behind and need the big play.

I still don't understand how that wasn't an incompletion in the Chargers game. He didn't maintain control going to the ground.

I'm talking about the ball carrier on his back and the defender applying the "rip & flip" move to one end of the ball- it popping out well after the whistle...

Yeah, that was weird. He that same play happened and he fell down and the ball came out, it would have been incomplete. But because he had guys draperd all over him it was a fumble??
