Is POZ back this week? The news seems to point to a yes. (1 Viewer)

(RotoWire) The odds are good that Posluszny (knee) will return to the lineup on Sunday against the Jets, BuffaloBills.com reports. "I think so," said head coach Chan Gailey when asked if Posluszny would be back for Sunday. "I think he'll make it back this week yes."

My other option with Derrick Johnson on bye is Rolondo McClain who I'd rather not play at this point so I'm hoping he can make it back.

Thanks for the update.

Against Jacksonville, the Bills - in an effort to shore up their shoddy run defense - broke out a heavy, almost 4-3 package to try to get more physical at the point of attack. Williams and rookie Torell Troup lined up inside, while Marcus Stroud and Dwan Edwards (spelled by Spencer Johnson and Alex Carrington) played defensive end. Kelsay played outside linebacker, while Andra Davis and Posluszny took "inside" roles, though Posluszny, as the third linebacker, looked like he was playing outside. The results were mixed. Williams and Troup performed rather well inside, but the Bills were beaten at the edge with relative ease by the Jaguars. Cutback lanes were plentiful, as the Bills really struggle to defend the back side against the run. But there were also moments, for the first time in a few weeks, when the run defense was good enough to force the Jags to pass. Expect to see a lot more of this defense, possibly with Kelsay at end once the team gets a little healthier at linebacker.

 Wrote about this in Wednesday's column, too. Between this and the Cowboys 53 look, there were some interesting alignments on the defensive side of the ball last week. I don't think this hurts Posluszny too much, but it might bring down his weekly ceiling a bit. Biggest beneficiary might be Dwan Edwards (and possibly Marcus Stroud) if they see more time aligned as 1-gap ends. Stroud is worth a long look right away if you're in a DT specific league.

I've read that kelsay plays more like a 5th down lineman in that formation than a linebacker, and so it looks more like a 5-2, which wouldn't concern me as much, and probably even pimps poz a bit, I'd think.

as far as beneficiaries go, I'd have to think davis, right?

Davis may get a small bump, but upside still limited by his not playing in the nickel and the actual number of snaps the Bills align more like a 4-3 than 3-4.
