Is Robbie Gould, CHI Kicker worth trading for? (1 Viewer)

Been offered Robbie Gould in a trade for Travis Henry.

I don't need Henry. And could definitely use Gould.

But he's a kicker. And do you ever trade a valuable player for a kicker?

kickers are weird

Gould is worth more in your starting lineup than anything you can get for him... In a dynasty situtaion it may be different but in a yearly league it's almost never worth trading the best kicker in the league I guess unless it's part of a package.

i.e. Rudi Johnson plus Vinatieri for Clinton Portis or something

An RB2 is always worth more than a kicker in Dynasty.

In redraft you need to analyze the points you are gaining. The difference between Guold and Joe Kicker isn't very much.

If you lose nothing but depth by shipping Henry, then how is he an RB2?

The difference between Gould and an average kicker is about 6 pts a game right now.Is Henry worth more or less than that? Thats the question.

Henry has value in my league as a RB2, give or take. He's just not a RB2 on my team because I'm fortunate to be loaded at RB.So Henry has value in my league, but he doesn't have a ton of value on my team. So the question is do I take the top Kicker in fantasy football for a guy I can afford to dump? Or should I hold out and try to get more value for him?

Past kicker results is not a good indication of future kicker results. Heck, just look where last year's stud kicker ranks right now (#16 K).

I'll take my chances with any kicker available.

This is completely true, with the possible exceptions of Matt Stover and Jason Elam who have consistently finished in the top 10 for kickers over the last few years.Other than those two, it's a crapshoot.

Bad weather is coming to Chicago
A very good point. Hadn't really thought of that.
That is why I just went after Adam V...coming off an injury, and kicks in a nice dome. I can't see giving up Henry for a Kicker...I think you will be hard pressed to find a backup RB if one of your Running backs go down, versus a kicker. Wilkens kicks in a dome as well...and is putting up good numbers. If you are looking for a Kicker, maybe target him. :2cents:

See, that's why I'm willing to trade Henry for a kicker. Warrick Dunn is my RB3 with LT2 and Westbrook as my RB1 and RB2. Plus I have LT and Westbrook backed up with Turner and Buckhalter. So Henry will never see the field.Hence, he's all but useless to me. And thus, I can afford to dump him for the #1 kicker in Fantasy.Atleast, that's my thinking.

In December last year the Bears had two home games. Gould kicked 7 of his season's 21 FGs in those two games. The two games were the only two where he kicked more than 2 in a game.

Basically, at Chicago in December, the football stays in the opponents' half for most of the game.

I had to drop Gould because of bye weeks and a small roster size....but I wasn't worried about it at all...it will get nasty in Chitown soon....

I still don't understand why you would drop the best kicker if your roster allows it. Depending on your scoring system, he is outperforming players like Edgerin James, Rudi Johnson, Chad Johnson, Cadillac, Lamont Jordan. The guy is an every week starter until proven otherwise. I'm not worried with the weather with the schedule left for the Bears.- (In case you have not figured it out, I have some serious Man Love for Robbie Gould!! :bag: )

Just offered the A. Green owner Morency, Heron and Scobee for him.

Didn't think about the weather either. Hmmmm???

I have the depth so I might just leave the offer out there.

This might be true but 2 out of 3 fantasy playoff games for Gould are in domes-STL and DET. Not only that but a good kicker is going to make the kicks more times than not. Sure he may miss a couple because of weather conditions but what kicker doesn't? If Henry is never gonna see the field then why wouldn't you make that deal?I'm kind of surprised that more people haven't ragged on you for posting a quasi trade thread in the Almighty Self Righteous Shark Pool.
