Is Tebow being given a fair shot to be a NFL QB?

A lot of irrational hate on this thread.

His passing numbers were pretty good, esp for a new player

In a thread supposedly about football, I see a lot of religious references. This tells us that much the hate is irrational and emotion-based.

I don't think hate means what you think it does.

You are right...its about football.

NFL football, where he simply is not a very good NFL QB.

So you don't think that religion plays a huge part (gotta be the only part at this point) in the remaining fascination with Tim Tebow? :lmao:

He's gone. Dozens of other players have come and gone in the NFL since Tebow was relevant. Should we start a "life's not fair" thread for all of them too?

Or irrational. As said above, the only reason he's still talked about as far as the NFL is because of his religious backers.

I'm pretty sure the Packers could have won a couple of these games if they had Tebow. But these idiots are happy with Flynn and Tolzien. That's all that matters.
And they're still smarter than you.

The Broncos would have also likely beaten the Patriots on Sunday night if they had Tebow instead of Peyton "doesn't play well in the cold" Manning.

Just thought I'd point that out.
That's great that you get Internet access at your special school. You should post pics of your popsicle stick houses and pipe cleaner kitty cats.

How many QBs have taken over a 1-4 team and taken that team to the playoffs and then been basically blackballed?

Outside of injury, are there any examples in NFL history?

I think Colt McCoy has gotten more of a raw deal than Tim Tebow. Winner in high school and college, decent stats, and good Christian, but didn't have anyone craft the offense mostly around him. Had worse skill position players to work with, gets knocked silly by James Harrison, then has to sit behind Brandon Weeden.

Tebow's problem is that he's not the focal point anymore, and not everyone is willing to cater to him.

Instead of saying he a "winner", I think it's more accurate to say he was part of a winning team. There were enough things that went right for the 2011 Broncos that it's hard to give more credit to Tebow than anyone else.

You realize Tebow was on TWO separate NFL teams after the Broncos, right?

You're right. It must have been the kiddie porn on his computer.

Trent Dilfer won a super bowl and then was a backup QB.

There's clueless and then there's this thread. Amazed every day by the things some peoples minds make them think.

It really does not matter if anyone comes up with 2 or 100 examples, your mind is made up that something other than Tebow's lack goodness as an NFL QB that has him out of the league. If anything Tebow was over drafted and had way more opportunity than has actual football skill allowed for. Given the irrational nature of thousands if not millions of fans of Tebow, there probably has been some team(s) that has poured over tape trying to find a reason to that it could work for Timmy just so they sell his fan base some silly amount of jerseys, bottled holy water, prayer cloths rosary beads or whatever other trinket that they could plaster his number/face on.

181 FBG members have no ability to analyze QB play.

Check that - 180. Someone felt embarrassed and rightfully so.

Good Lord, NFL owners would hire Osama Bin Laden, Pol Pot, and Adolph Hitler if they thought it would help them win. Some of you really think a clean-cut, no-trouble, white kid would be black-balled? On a message board with hundreds of thousands of threads, tens of thousands of members, and an infinite number of misguided posts - this line of thought may well be the most head-scratching of any I've ever read.

Examples of what? People being on two different teams after they were "backballed"? I don't think you understand the term.

Maybe we could start a petition on his behalf. Teams might give him another chance if we get enough signatures.

Let me know.

I dunno. How many QBs have sucked as bad as Tebow after leading a 1-4 team to the playoffs?

I'm shocked the Jags never gave him a chance. Not that he would be a great QB or win them any games but he would sell a TON of tickets and merchandise down there, on a team that nobody seems to really care about.

Guessing they don't want a controversy next season when they draft Teddy

Actually blackballed by three teams.

I remember how pissed Elway was when they finally started him and he won. Then they decided to trade away Brandon LLoyd for peanuts.

And what a terrible move that was for them, with Brandon Llyod going onto superstardom and being a solid locker room guy.

There is a thread on the general mediocrity of backup QBs, but strangely no one wants to talk about that.

And it's amazing how some people think Tebow is the only out of work QB deserving of consideration.

I'm surprised Vince Young isn't on the Packers now. He must've done something stupid while he was there. Of course, it's obvious that the NFL hates blacks and Christians since neither one of those groups ever get a chance to do anything.

I agree, it makes no sense no matter what you think of the Jags ownership. If you think they're idiots, of course they'd bring in Tebow, he's all hype and can't throw the ball. If you think they're somewhat intelligent, of course they'd bring in Tebow, he's huge down there and they've had crappy attendance for years. I can't decide if them not giving him a chance is brilliant or completely idiotic.

I don't

Vince Young proved he can win...not sure about the mental issues that caused his downfall...I'm sure there are others

Tebow has a solid if unspectacular passer rating, plus legs and people skills. Most importantly, he didn't turn the ball over and his TD to INT ration was excellent. That alone makes him better than a lot of backups.

If the rumors are true about Tebow's social life I think the term is blueballed.

The last thing Milano needs is the 3 ring circus that comes with Tebow. Doubtful he beats out Luigi Massimo anyway.
