Is there a way to block threads? (1 Viewer)

After a while, there are certain threads that are clearly uninteresting for one reason or another. Is there a way to block a thread so that it no longer appears when you open the SP?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but dumb me couldn't figure it out on my own.

Just don't click on them
Not ideal. It would be much more efficient if they disappeared entirely so other more interesting threads appeared in their place on the first few pages.
Well we don't live an ideal society. If you want something that isn't available to you then make it available. Necessity is the mother of invention. This is how people get rich and history is made. Make it happen!

I wish they had one of these "blocking" devices for people. If there is someone who doesn't interest me at all, I just won't see them! My workplace would be far more exciting with only the "cool people" in my field of vision!

The dude was just asking a question. Why be a ##### about it?

I don't know if this board supports it, but I believe some do, so it's not a ridiculous question. With all of the stickies followed by a bunch of never ending threads you aren't interested in, I can say where it would be very useful to filter some of them out to see more "new" threads on the first page. It's not like it would be a technological marvel to produce either.

Not that I know of but it's something you could bring up and I'd be rooting for this feature. Sorry to see you getting blasted by losers who get their rocks off by being rude on message boards, they surely are lacking something.

You all probably one of those who is shopping for one of those machines that will wipe your butt for you when you are done too! :lmao:

It's called a "Bidet", and it's WONDERFUL. :yes:Seriously, stuff like this always cracks me up. Doing things "better" is generally a worthwhile goal, even if it seems petty at the time. It's silly to complain about how things develop and get better over time. MANY of the board features we have come to expect might have been considered petty at one point or another by "old-schoolers" like yourself. I'm glad we ignored them at the time.Who needs "quotes", just type it out you lazy *******! Stickies? My goodness, just go to the next page, it's just one click - how hard is that? What? A link - who needs that on a message board? Just type it in to the address bar for goodness sake. A signature? How lame is that?

Who's being rude here? It's funny to me that people get so bent out of shape by a harmless comments on an internet forum. The guy put a question out there and people responded with a little ribbing for good reason IMO. I think the mods do a great job of keeping things cool around here but this is a forum where people should be able to express themselves and have a little fun at the same time.

No need to call people losers. We're all grown men (I assume) and I think your comment is the only one uncalled for here.

I wanna block threads with "moving forward" in the title.

I only care about what a guy did in the past.

 I find a lot of the posts in the SP to be funny. Don't take things so serious...

Yes, you're right - implying it is SO much better than just outright calling someone a loser. :thanks:

I'm not implying anything. I think what I'm saying is pretty straightforward.People can disagree and even use sarcasm/humor/ribbing without calling someone, or even implying that they are, a loser.

I'm not going to get into it with some of the harsher responders here, but I will say that I think this would be a great feature. The Sharkpool is awesome, but I think this feature would certainly be an upgrade.

I hope some of the mods will see this thread and consider the idea.

I would love it.There are always about 25 threads on page 1 that I know I would never care to click on

Id actually consider requesting a mod to make something like this possible. However Im pretty sure you or I might miss out on something worthwhile...

If such a mod were written, it would then need to be installed by Admin (security risk)

May I suggest you try My Assistant, New Posts <-- I would almost guess that you know this feature already

Im a gamer so I actually believe a vote to delete/move a thread could be beneficial (disrespectful posts or just non-sense). The key word being "could", I mean if a thread were deleted to be reviewed by Admin and we have a few Sharks miss a Wed. priority on a player (the system fails)

p.s. there is a forum entitled "website questions" :lmao:

I don't find it takes that long to skim the thread titles to find something I'm interested in reading. What takes time is separating the wheat from a chaff in a thread. Now if they can find a way to block the posts that add nothing other than to a thread than "I just picked up Player X" or "I just dropped Player Y" with no accompanying explanation, I'd consider that a great innovation.

Let me know when you find one Multiple Scores, I want one too.. :(

I think you might be confused. I'm not suggesting a feature where anyone can delete/hide/block a thread from everybody. Just from our own personal logins. This would be similar to blocking a particular poster - a currently available feature - except that it would apply to specific threads.i.e. each time I see a thread I don't like or am not interested in, I can click a button so that it disappears from my view. It would still be viewable by everyone else, just not me.This would be awesome because it with a few clicks each day, I would be able to keep the most interesting threads on the front page each time I visit the Pool.

Yeah, maybe along with this a "personal thread pin" feature. Right now the mods have several threads pinned, it would be nice if you could pin a thread about a player you have so that everytime you log on and go to the SP it's at the top. It'd be like an extension of subscribing of black dotting a thread...

I'm not sure if anyone's savvy with greasemonkey, but if you spent enough time with that it could be a workaround if you're a pure firefox guy. It's not a pure invision-based solution but it might work. If you want help learning to code, I'm sure that there's a solution somewhere on google.

I wish I could block this thread.

It would be easy to write JS to remove threads, but the board wouldn't supply new threads to replace them so you would just end up with a shorter page.
