Is this a messed up year for fantasy football? (1 Viewer)

I don't know about you guys, but I plan pretty carefully for the three leagues I participate in, and I don't EVER recall so many question marks....

LJ... losses on the O-Line

SAlexander... Coverboy for Madden, and Hutchinson gone

LT... injured in the preseason, and for all practical purposes a rookie at QB

Tiki... talking retirement, and actually advising fantasy football players NOT to draft him too high

Portis... hurt

SJackson... this could be his year to shine, unless of course he can't handle the heavy load with Faulk out with ball cancer

Lamont Jordan... that defense SUCKS - and they'll be passing quite a bit again - who's the QB?

Ronnie Brown... this could be his breakout year - but can he handle the workload?

Manning... how much will Edge's departure and one of the finest blocking HBs hurt him?

Brady... sore shoulder? rumors of BALCO? WHO are his WRs?

Hasselbeck... Joe J. has taken his act to Cleveland, and Hutchinson is gone

McNabb... No TO?

Culpepper... that knee injury was pretty major, is he REALLY ready to take a hit on it?

Palmer... how's that knee doing?

Bulger... NEVER put up that great of numbers in a passing oriented offense

TO... hurt

Steve Smith... Delhomme was complaining of a 'dead arm' a few weeks ago and is there ANY way he could post numbers that huge again? Bears fans say "YES!!!"

Holt... possibly hurt tonight, and no longer in a pass crazy offense

Boldin and Fitz... How much will Edge take away from their opportunities

Chad Johnson... fighting with coaches last year in the playoffs and no Carson Palmer

Randy Moss... declining numbers are hard to ignore

Marvin Harrison... when will he officially hit the wall of old age?

D-Jax... Amazing that he's still considered a top flight WR, given the fact his health is a mystery to me

I don't ever recall so many question marks at the top of the draft boards in recent memory...

Thoughts?

seems normal to me, sorry
 I agree. I just think we are exposed to more and more info every year. Back in the day we didn't know about every bump and bruise, and with blissful ignorance we drafted merrily away. Don't sweat all the injuries. If these were regular season games, most of these guys would be playing.

I would say that I don't recall so many injuries before. Of course, the injuries are not to the BIGGEST names in the NFL, but it seems that a lot of OL and DL are getting hurt or hampered to a degree. Every game, appears to have a decent named player get hurt for each team and I don't recall that happening as frequently in the year's past.

CLE center spot is an over the top example of leading to more question marks...

There are plenty of injuries and plenty of question marks every single season. But when the question arises such as "Was this the greatest play/game/series ever..." you tend to forget the past because it's just not at the forefront of your memory. Nothing different this year.

There is a deeper pool of viable Rbs this year and less certainty about which Rbs will get the majority of carries. This coupled with increased passing across the league has more owners considering Wrs in round 2 of thier drafts than in years past.

Other than that it seems as different/the same as any other year.

I remember posting something similar last year. Plus ca change.

All this chaos is simply an opportunity for the better informed to take advantage.

Exactly. Use your information, plus how you feel about the NFL team, not the FF team to start seperating the tiers. You already laid that type of philosophy out in your RB and WR posts. Stick with it. Let the guppies follow pre season hype.

Here is what I see. About 5 or 6 top elite RBs (LT, SA, LJ, Portis, Tiki) and then a bunch of average RBs.

So, what exactly are you doing to "take advantage"this year???I've been playing for 8 years and I agree with the original post, this year does stand out as one with an *abnormally high degree* of variability.I'd love to hear what info is keeping the rest of yousharks so even keeled.

Seems to be more questions at QB, but otherwise, it's the same thing as every year.
Definitely at QB... other than Manning is there ANYBODY worth taking in the first 24 picks?Somewhat at WR... NO clear cut 'Top 3'and I guess RB is just about the same as it always is - but the Portis injury adds a twist.

Where did all the sharks go??? Everyone was acting calm and cool about thisyear - despite the abnormally high degree of variability.Yet no one can back up their statements with any facts.WTF  Let's get some of those sharks talking out there....
