According to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, the Vikings have agreed to terms with Wisconsin defensive end Erasmus James. The deal has yet to be signed and some of the details need to be worked out, but financials terms have been agreed upon. James was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2005 draft after a college career that saw him amass 124 tackles and 18 sacks. The Vikings were counting on James to contribute immediately as the rush end in their nickel package, but Minnesota head coach Mike Tice said last week that James' holdout might change that. "Now he's put himself in a hole," Tice said. "It's going to be tough for me to see him do anything that will be counted on early on these next couple weeks. Now if he comes in and in that first preseason game has five sacks, he'll be starting." Darrion Scott is the current starter at right end and is considered more of an every-down player, at least initially. James will compete with Scott and pass-rush specialist Lance Johnstone for playing time. On obvious passing downs, James and Johnstone could be the ends, with either Scott or Kenechi Udeze moving inside, flanking Kevin Williams.
Now get your #### into camp and show off those second and third moves the vikes think you have.

Essentially, I gave up Thurman to have James.

:lmao: :lmao: I knew the subject before I even opened the post!

And yes, for the sake of diversity, I took him in one dynasty draft to offset the selection of Tuck in all my other leagues. Hope he kicks it in to gear and stays on the field.

James, who showed up in a Vikings uniform for the first time on Tuesday night, ran sideline to sideline four times with his teammates lined up on either side before the start of Tuesday night's scrimmage. The players did the wave and cheered as James ran by. James did not appear amused.

"He passed his conditioning test," Tice said. "I told him, 'pass your conditioning test now and tomorrow morning join the team.' So he doesn't have to go on the field with the trainers tomorrow morning.

"I was pleased the guys cheered him on the whole way. They did the wave, were clapping, they welcomed him to our football team and that's the right thing to do. I thought he handled it very well."
