J Stewart in Walking boot (1 Viewer)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathan Stewart missed his second straight practice Thursday and was in a walking boot to protect his sore left heel.

Panthers coach John Fox said Stewart first complained of the injury two weeks ago. He played in Carolina's win over Arizona on Oct. 26, but was held to 10 yards on eight carries.

The Panthers were off last week, but the injury has kept Stewart sidelined. His status for Sunday's game at Oakland is uncertain.

"To be honest with you he's not really sure when he did it," Fox said. "It just started hurting. He played in the game fine. We'll kind of just wait and see."

Stewart, Carolina's first-round pick, has been splitting carries with veteran DeAngelo Williams. Stewart has rushed for 362 yards and a team-best five touchdowns.

"It's day to day," Fox said. "But any time you don't have a guy out there it's always a concern."

Good info -- thanks. I'm wary of ever owning this kid -- he just seems to be one of those guys who will never make it a full 16.

Interesting. I was just offered a trade of J Stewart (his) for C. Benson (mine) in a redraft. I guess this is why & will help me make my decision.

Whats with RB's in Carolina that cant stay healthy. . .hehe.
Williams has been healthy all year, and this is Stewart's first injury this season (which is a sore heel). RB is a brutal position, and plenty have been injured this year like Westbrook, Tomlinson, Jackson, Addai, Parker, etc.

Saw this news earlier today and decided to start DeAngelo over Lewis.

He needs about 17 points for it to be the right decision.

This makes Williams a strong start against the Raiders which haven't been able to stop anybody on the ground. Perfect timing since I needed a fill in starter for Willie Parker! :X

:lmao:Guy has a world of talent, but seemingly can't stay healthy.
Seems a little early to label the guy injury prone. But then again you've ruled out a players entire career because he wasn't 6'2 220. You must have an excel spreadsheet where you fit everyone into a nice, colorful label.

 This 'EBF loves BMI, he's a total idiot, lolnoob' schtick is really f'n old. Seriously, grow up. It's a theory, he might be right, he might be horribly wrong, we don't know. Regardless of whether he's right or wrong the only people that look like idiots are the ''EBF loves BMI, he's a total idiot, lolnoob' posters.

Hook, line, and sinka...well done.

I'm guessing you listened and drafted Stewart early due to his BMI?

Because the alternatives with the #1 rookie pick have produced so much better than J Stew. And, no, I did not draft J Stew, I got Chris Johnson in two of my dyno drafts and traded the #1 pick for (basically) McNabb + Randy Moss in the other.

update today?
Running back Jonathan Stewart practiced fully with the Panthers during a light workout Friday after the team arrived in California.Stewart, who missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a sore heel, is listed as questionable on the injury report. The Panthers appear hopeful that Stewart can play, but it could come down to a game-time decision. If he doesn't play, Nick Goings would be the No. 2 running back behind starter DeAngelo Williams. The only player listed as out for the game is defensive tackle Darwin Walker, who didn't make the trip. He still has neck soreness from a recent auto accident that totaled his car.

Thanks for the updates guys, if he can't go this week, hopefully he will be good to go next. He'll be on my bench unless I really need him.

Did he practice Friday or not? The injury report says 'Did not participate in practice' Link

As does this link, but the above says he did.
Found this on CBSCarolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathan Stewart returned to practice Friday and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Oakland.

My feeling is D. Williams has never made it through a entire season without getting nicked up, if he(stewart) can get back on field, the guy could be a stud..

Deangelo played in all 16 games last year. link. He didn't start any, but he did play. This is his 1st year starting, so it remains to be seen whether he'll make it through without getting nicked up. Few RBs do, though some will play through the nicks.

Are you confusing him with Deshaun Foster, perhaps?

Could be, just seems to be last year he missed, but i could be wrong, as i did not own him & your right RB's do get nicked up.. JMO that Stewart has much more upside, but i do Williams Credit he has been playing well of late, But i still think Stewart has 5 TD's to Wliiams 3.. Part of the problem i have was they drafted Williams, it was to overtake Foster, & i don't think he ever really did that until foster was out of the picture, then the Panthers drafted Stewart which tells me they were either very high on Stewart or not that sold on D. Williams??

I also saw that he DID NOT practice and is more to the doubtful side than the questionable side. :(

I don't know who to listen to.

I found this on the football guys news bloggersPanthers RB Stewart Questionable, DT Walker Out

Associated Press, ESPN.com - http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=3689102

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart practiced Friday but was listed as questionable for the team's week 10 game against the Oakland Raiders. DT Darwin Walker is not traveling with the team and will not play because of a sore neck stemming from a recent car accident.

I did read he is a GTD

DWill has to stay healthy, because if he goes down and Stewart gets a chance at it by himself, DWill will be back to being the backup again.

Found this today

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (heel) did fly to Oakland with the team. He’ll try to warm up in front of coaches.

the quote I posted previously that stated Stewart practiced Friday was written by Charles Chandler, who is a beat writer for the Panthers, and works for the Charlotte Observer. link
