Looking at this situation. We know he has 2 concussions in 2 months, which is fairly serious stuff. There's not a lot of information about whether or not he is done for the season, so I am thinking if he comes back, he comes back in time for the playoffs, which could be a nice value add, of course you are gambling that he *is* coming back.

So I am thinking in PPR leagues, this has to be an intriguing option, but what do you offer for him? Any idea?

My initial thoughts were someone like a Reggie Bush or Mike Tolbert who is sharing carries and getting some points. Is that too low or too high? Just wondering what you all think or whether you would actually stay away from the whole situation.

Note: I did not want to put this in the injury thread as it has nothing to do with his injury. More of a risk/reward situation. I didn't put in the AC as I am wondering what the value is and what you also consider his marketable value.

I moved Marshall for him this week - I've got Fitz and Wallace plus a couple of solid backups, but only really have McFadden/Bush at RB. 0.5 PPR here - I'm willing to take the risk. Everyone's situation will be different, but I was comfortable making the move in my circumstances.

I would say so. A lot of owners are probably holding right now, but you could get a panicky one. Personally, I would take the risk. He could miss a few weeks and come back as a great asset. But there is a serious chance its worse than that. I don't like the lack of info coming out on it.

Are you not worried that you just traded Marshall for a guy that likely won't play again this year?

Of course I'm a little worried, but the owner wouldn't have traded him if anything was a given. If I knew for sure what was going to happen ahead of time like many people seem to think of this situation, I wouldn't be making any trades, since I'd have drafted the perfect team. "Likely" not playing again this year is just an educated guess at this point, and one not entirely based in fact. Could he not play this year? Possibly. Could he be out until after the bye? Possibly. Could he come back sooner? Possibly, though less likely. With the depth I have at WR and the lack of RB depth, I needed to roll the dice....unless you happen to be the team physician, you're just guessing like I am.

Needed WR depth so I dealt him for Deion Branch and Santana Moss in one of my leagues....who of course broke his hand as soon as I acquired him

I have Best right now and have had several half assed trades offered. One guy tried offering me Best & Bowe for Manningham and Morris. Which I thought was hilarious as I wouldn't even trade Manningham and Morris for Bowe let alone Best. I still think he'll be back week 10 after the bye. Not that I'm desperate for his return right now... still someone I'd like back on my roster. For now he is a definite hold for me, short of some crazy offer that I can't turn down.

Probably buy in redraft, but stay away from in dynasty (or at least view him in the same light as Fred Jackson, Steven Jackson, Michael Turner, and Frank Gore).

We all know about the concussion. And we do hope Best comes back soon. All I know is that Morris and K.Williams are huge drop offs. Did anyone watch the game yesterday? Defense didn't even respect the run. Lions lose.

When Best returns, he is the clear starter. Coach might just throw him out there with half a brain since Morris and K.Williams flat out suck.

It was actually shocking to see how lost that offense has looked without Best in the game. All season people seemed to think that the entire offense is simply the Stafford to Calvin show. What most don't realize I suppose is how much of a legitimate threat Best is out of the backfield for opposing defenses. Much like Sproles has been this season in NO, he has so many different talents and explosive skills that without him on the field the offense becomes largely one dimensional. You saw it this week and you also saw it against the 49ers on those final two drives... without Best on the field the defense barely has to try.

He will come back though, and as steelwind said... Best is the CLEAR starter after seeing how terrible the other options in DET are past being change of pace backs.
