The JaMarcus Russell era in Oakland likely will begin Dec. 2, sources told ESPN.

The Raiders have circled Dec. 2 vs. the Broncos as the likely starting debut for the 2007 No. 1 overall pick, team sources told ESPN.

Russell's "light came on" a couple of weeks ago, a source told ESPN.

Russell had a great week of practice, then weighed in at 259 on Friday after hovering in the 270s most of the season.

Unless Daunte Culpepper excels the next two weeks in starts against the Vikings and Chiefs, Russell likely will get all five starts in December.

Could he be a nice pick up the rest of the way? Roller coaster ride?

First, please change your thread title. Russell is NOT going to start the rest of the season. (Not for another 2 weeks, at least).

Second, I don't see Russell doing much of anything. Trent Edwards was decent, but he's got a much better surrounding cast. I think it's a mistake for Oakland to be playing Russell so soon (this is roughly the equivalent of starting a rookie in Week 1 or 2).

See how Beck does this week for Miami, and then extrapolate that for 5 games. That's what Russell will do.
