Bet Peyton was shaking in his boots on draft day.looks like quite a few of them were right on though - with the great talent, but a lot of risks/questions. Mike Mayock seemed to be right.lol @ Mel Kiper's quote though.

On the one hand, Leaf was also assaulting media. On the other hand at least he cared enough to get fired UP and assault media.Does being the poster boy for slackers vault Russell over Leaf? If you don't care one way ro the other does it take you out of the running?Russell's pretty bad, but I don't know if I'd rank him the biggest bust. Leaf and Akili Smith have to be in the running.Career passing stats:Leaf: 25 games (21 starts), 146.6 yards/game, 50.0 passer rating, 48.4% completion rate, 14/36 TD/INT ratioRussell: 31 games (25 starts), 131.7 yards/game, 65.2 passer rating, 52.1% completion rate, 18/23 TD/INT ratioAkili Smith: 22 games (17 starts), 100.5 yards/game, 52.8 passer rating, 46.6% completion rate, 5/13 TD/INT ratio
not until he loses some weight. I saw him a while ago in person and he looked pretty fat. I had heard he was overweight, but didnt realize to what extent until I saw him in person.from the look of the guy, it was hard to believe he is an actual athlete.if I was a GM, I wouldnt sign anyone carrying that weight who isnt on the O-Line or D-Line.From #1 in the draft to being released in 3 years...WOW!!!Does he even land anywhere in the NFL?
I think the fact that he and lef are close, but Jamarcus was #1 ovverall and was given so much cash is what makes him a bigger bustmaybe not a worse playerOn the one hand, Leaf was also assaulting media. On the other hand at least he cared enough to get fired UP and assault media.Does being the poster boy for slackers vault Russell over Leaf? The Kiper quote just kills me:Bet Peyton was shaking in his boots on draft day.looks like quite a few of them were right on though - with the great talent, but a lot of risks/questions. Mike Mayock seemed to be right.lol @ Mel Kiper's quote though.
"JaMarcus Russell is going to immediately energize that fanbase, that football team -- on the practice field, in that locker room. Three years from now you could be looking at a guy that's certainly one of the elite top five quarterbacks in this league. ...You're talking about a 2-3 year period once he's under center. Look out because the skill level that he has is certainly John Elway-like."

FWIW, he scored a 24 on the Wonderlic, which is pretty solid. Not that the Wonderlic is a perfect measure of intelligence, but it's at least preliminary evidence that he's not stupid.Ummm...he is stupid. REALLY stupid. He will be broke within 5-10.Just because he's lazy doesn't mean he's stupid with his money. He got a lot of cash as the #1 overall pick. He shouldn't have to do another thing for the rest of his life...
sure, his Wonderlic may be exhibit A, but his purchases are a pretty solid exhibit B. Wonder how much he'll be able to pawn that necklace for when he doesn't have anything left.FWIW, he scored a 24 on the Wonderlic, which is pretty solid. Russell was dawning diamonds all over his body, and his fashion display was capped off with a necklace which featured a pendant of himself wearing #2 on his jersey, and the word "Chosen" behind it. We should probably add that it was covered in diamonds.
"If you had to choose a quarterback, who would you pick, JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn? Both have strengths and glaring weaknesses. It goes down to which guy is most coachable. I might take Quinn for that reason. But, pure skill with a ton of work to do, it would be Russell. If you put a gun to my head, I would pick Russell. But he comes with a lot of risk."-- ESPN's Merril Hoge
Out of all those quotes, Pete Prisco was the only one who wore his heart on his sleeve and he was right. others alluded to the fact that he may not be good, but Prisco was the only one who questioned his ability. Sure it is easy to say, "Sam Bradford has all the tools and the only thing standing in the way of Sam Bradford is Sam Bradford". Prisco just said, he's not that good."If you had to choose a quarterback, who would you pick, JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn? Both have strengths and glaring weaknesses. I would take Quinn before Russell.but then again, I'm not a big fan of having a player who lacks the discipline to keep his weight in check. Especially if this player is supposed to be one of your team leaders.Out of all those quotes, Pete Prisco was the only one who wore his heart on his sleeve and he was right. others alluded to the fact that he may not be good, but Prisco was the only one who questioned his ability. There are some fundamental issues with draft reporting here. One, 50% of first-round draft picks bust. Higher percentages in other rounds. Two, 90%+ of coverage of first-round draft picks is positive. Therefore, most analysts are going to look silly half of the time.Three, any analyst who "goes out on a limb" to predict a bust is at least as likely to be right as the guys who are predicting success. It only really is better if the downside picks are correct more often than not. Prisco was right to question Jamarcus Russell, but he also was pimping Brady Quinn, who's been nearly as much of a bust. He took the Vikings to task for taking Adrian Peterson over Brady Quinn. Other Prisco quotes:Out of all those quotes, Pete Prisco was the only one who wore his heart on his sleeve and he was right. others alluded to the fact that he may not be good, but Prisco was the only one who questioned his ability. Taking Matt Leinart in the first round was a great pick for the future of this franchise. He's the next star quarterback in this league. Maroney and second-round pick Chad Jackson were really premium picks.
The 49ers did the right thing. You have to build around a quarterback, and [A.Smith] will be special. He's athletic, smart, accurate and has good size. Love the pick.
The Browns are desperate for a big-play receiver, and Edwards is all of that and more.
And so on. Frankly, draft analysis is a total crap shoot and I would be surprised if any of these guys does better than a monkey with a dart board. The Bears needed a runner, so taking a back makes sense. But they took the wrong back. Cadillac Williams will be a better NFL player than Benson, who has a lot of carries already on his body.
well, the first step in recovering from major problems of any sort is first admitting you have a problem.the fact that the raiders have released their #1 overall pick leads me to believe they are not going to be in denial much longer. Now all they need to do is realize that the GM needs to go, and then all will get better.I know....![]()

This is scary to me that the Raiders allowed this guy on the team.Free agent JaMarcus Russell will train in Arizona in an effort to get back into the National Football League.According to Yahoo Sports, Russell “apparently” is back up to 300 pounds and plans to drop at least 25 before attempting to latch on with a new team. He does not intend to try the CFL or UFL. “His mechanics are even completely screwed up,” a source close to Russell said. “There’s stuff they go over in high school that he hasn’t worked on the past three years.”Source: Yahoo Sports
