James Jones or Jordy Nelson? (1 Viewer)

One of these two could be very big this weekend with 6+ for 100+ and a score. Pack at home playing a down trodden Cowboys team that's near the bottom in terms of points given up to WR this year. And coming off a game where they were frustrated offensively.

My guess is Rodgers throws 2-4 TDs this weekend with one or both of these guys being major beneficiaries since Driver has been ruled out for the week.

Jones is starting, but in this offense does it really matter? Nelson will see a lot of snaps so it'll come down to who has the better matchup and Rodgers' confidence. Jones is a beast but has suspect hands and dropped a few big passes last week on his way to a doughnut. Nelson is the darkhorse, but even though he's not as physically talented as Jones, he at least has good hands.

What are your thoughts Shark Pool?

I'm so sick of James Jones I could spit. Every year, I get caught up in the possibilities only to be disappointed. He can't catch, when he does, he can't hold onto it. I finally just dropped him this week in favor of Nelson. So, in short, START JONES WITH CONFIDENCE.

considering starting both Jennings and Jones this week with Brandon Lloyd on a bye, just seems like this game could be a blowout.

Nelson is getting 7 targets per week since Jermichael went down. The fact that Quarless is nicked and Driver is out only opens up more routes in the middle of the field for Nelson, who looked very good last week working with Rodgers.

Whoever Jenkins is covering - he will have a career game. Jenkins is horrible
I'm sure you meant Scandrick. I've never seen worse CB play than what Orlando Scandrick has shown this year.Teams aren't even throwing at Jenkins anymore. Scandrick will be covering Jones and Jones will have a career game.

I'm struggling with this one, I have both Jones & Nelson. My opponent this week has Aaron Rodgers, do I just play both or just one? But who? Argh...

I'm rolling with Jones as my WR3. However, this game could be over early, so the production may be all inthe 1st half.

Do they move them around...or do their corners stick to one side?Asking because GB seemed to move their WRs around last week to try and pick on the 3rd corner rather than going after Revis or Cromartie.

Picking between Nelson and Jones is truly a coin flip on a week to week basis, as well as looking to the future. I think it was the Vikings game a couple weeks ago in which Rogers had targeted 7 different receivers before the first qtr. had ended. If I had to choose, I would probably take Nelson this week just based on recent form, but that is no more than a crapshoot.

Jones seems more likely to boom or bust, while Nelson seems to be steadier but with less upside. Probably depends on the rest of one's WR crew as to how much risk they are willing to assume.

If teams don't throw at Jenkins, how does he keep racking up pass interference calls?

Not really wild about either, but I would take Jordy Nelson out of these two.

JJ is asleep at the wheel IMO... should have made his mark by now.

except when jones beat cromartie, then let the ball bounce off of his hands.Jones keeps getting thrown to, and keeps dropping the ball.

gbpressgazette article on Jones

Packers WR James Jones is on pace for 38 receptions, 568 yards and 2 TDs in 2010. The 38 receptions would be the second-most of his career (47 in 2007, 20 in 2008, 32 in 2009). 568 yards would also rank No. 2 (676 in 20078, 274 in 2008, 440 in 2009).

However, the season has been an up and down affair as Jones has flourished certain weeks and had game-changing mistakes in others.

He caught three passes for 32 yards, including a 30-yard TD, against the Bills (Week 2), had 5 catches for 55 yards at Chicago (Week 3), added 4 catches for 65 yards at Washington (Week 5) and finished with 4 receptions for 107 yards against the Vikings.

Jones was held without a catch against the Jets (Week 8 ) and Dolphins (Week 6) and had just 1 against the Lions (Week 4) and 2 at Philadelphia (Week 1). He also lost a fumble with 2:18 remaining in the fourth quarter at Chicago, setting up a Bears game-winning field goal with 8 seconds remaining. Jones made another critical mistake in the third quarter of the Miami loss, allowing Jason Allen to pick off an Aaron Rodgers pass without fighting to knock the ball down.

After scouring the ww for a WR to play b/c of bye week and injury issues, Nelson seems like the best bet to me. Jones was picked up earlier in the week. But I think I like Nelson better anyway.

It's either Nelson or the guy from SD and I think Im gonna roll the dice with Jordy in primetime. The little I've seen of him I've liked and GB still likes throwing the ball even if Dallas lays down.

We shall see but I think he's a solid play this week in PPR.

I'm also looking at both of these guys as they're both available in my league. After reading this thread, I'm kinda scared of Jones with all the comments on dropped balls, game-changing mistakes, failure to rise up when given the opportunity. Also, I wonder if Nelson as a possession receiver fits more with the current offense. Jennings can run deep routes (so can Jones), but with the TE situation, doesn't the Pack need a middle of the field possession receiver more than they need another deep threat?

Think I'll go with Jordy! :bag:

i guess you can justify anything you want to. (that's the royal 'you'). :lmao:I say this as we both based our decision of the same injury, and went opposite directions with it!

If what happened in preseason is any indication Jones was clearly a better option than Nelson. I would go Jones over Nelson.

Nelson is the one of the worst kick returners I've ever seen. He's slow and not elusive at all. I'll take talent of speed and agility over Nelson. As we saw in both the Giants and Jaguars game all it takes is one move after the catch and you are in for a big gain. I think Jones is the play, debating starting him over Tolbert due to byes.

Nelson to handle returns so bump up JJones in the offense...
Jordy handled returns last week and got more targets (7) than Jones (5). Truth is they are both good plays as the 2nd and 3rd best receivers (in debatable order) on GB's pass-happy offense. I think you can start either with confidence. My personal opinion is that Jordy will be running many of Jermichael's and Driver's routes and Jones will be outside more with a little better chance of making big plays. Any receiver who projects to get 7+ targets against the Cowboys' woeful pass D is a good start for fantasy owners!

I picked up both J. James & S. Ajirotutu and played them this week. Basking in Fantasy Football Glory.

Any idea how long Driver will be out? Also, what's the outlook for the rest of the season as far as Rodgers and the upcoming matchups in which he's likely to keep throwing it like crazy? GB looks to be getting cranked up now, especially with the defense playing lights out.
