My impression is that very few underage prostitutes get into the game themselves because the local Orange Julius isn't hiring over the summer. There's a decent chance that any underage prostitute is a victim of sex trafficking, which we might look at more harshly than if this was just an Amy Fisher situation.

Part of the case involves images Fogle received from Russell Taylor, the head of Fogle's foundation. According to the complaint, Taylor sent Fogle photos and videos from hidden cameras in Taylor's house, featuring children as young as approximately 6.

My impression though, and again, just impression, is that Jared's preferred range was in the 14-18 category. What is stated in the complaint are supposed facts that have not been subject to any sort of confrontation or refutation, whether by cross-examination or otherwise. In other words, when you see a complaint the alleged facts should be taken with a grain of salt. Here, we have no idea as to the credibility of the speaker providing the police with this hearsay statement and are not privy to the context of which the statement may have been made. Instead, a more reliable source of facts on this case would have been the "factual basis" provided by either the State or the defendant (which the other side confirmed) when the plea was taken. I have not seen any media reports providing a verbatim account of what the factual basis was for Jared's guilty plea. To your point, I think it's safe to call Jared a sick pig, but it's somewhat of a stretch to say he'd sleep with a pre-pubescent child or that he should be imprisoned for decades.

Sleeping with a 16 year old is enough for me to put you away for decades.

Chadstroma, I realize you probably have a young daughter and that is why your opinion is so strong. However, legally there is nothing wrong with having sex with a 16 year old for the majority of the US (30 states) and most every other country in the world.

Interestingly the US consent laws came about by women's movements around the turn of the century (1900) with the primary intent to abolish prostitution, not to protect poor 16 year old Sally who was not emotionally mature enough to have sex with older Billy.

I have no problem with Jared paying for sex with 16 and 17 year olds if they were of legal age in the state that the act occurred (Our prostitution laws are as stupid as our age of consent laws* in my opinion). His paying for sex with anyone under 16 is wrong, and the filming of children and teenagers and collecting child porn are disgusting and he deserves whatever punishment is doled out by his fellow inmates.

*I believe there should be a standard age of consent nationwide.
