Jason Snelling injury? (1 Viewer)

A Turner owner, I went into the league site today to grab Snelling as a handcuff for the stretch run and learned that he hurt his hamstring and left the 4th quarter of the last game. I had completely missed this. I've looked and can't seem to find many updates, but maybe we'll hear something out of practice today. Any locals heard anything?

He will probably be questionable, but the official designations don't come from the team until tomorrow (Friday).

The bigger question is whether there is another 3rd down back to replace Snelling, or can we actually expect to see Turner catch some passes?

That and who is Turners backup now?

I highly doubt it... Turner has never been a part of this role and I don't see it happening with or without Snelling. Even after Snelling was hurt last week there was somebody else in there on 3rd downs, so I don't see any way that Turner would take on this role.I still fail to see why they don't run the odd screen or swing pass to Turner. That part does baffle me.

Looking at the box score, Turner caught one pass for 4 yards last week. Snelling had 4 for 32. The only other non-WRs/TEs that caught a pass were Ovie Mughelli (1-16) and Gartrell Johnson (1-1). Mughelli is the FB, so I guess the only viable replacement for Snelling would be Johnson. Not sure if he's any better of a 3rd down option than Turner is, but I guess time will tell if Snelling is out.

Turner has actually been more involved in the passing game this year. In his first two years with the Falcons, Turner had 11 reception total and he's got 11 thus far this year. No doubt it's not a strength of his, but the other RB on the Falcons is Gartrell Johnson. Not sure if he would step seamlessly into Snelling's role. If I had to guess, Snelling's absence would necessitate a bigger workload for Turner although not exclusive, meaning Johnson would be worked into some packages.
