Javon Walker found unconscious off LV strip (2 Viewers)

Have we really gotten to the point where we're pronouncing him as having been buying drugs and/or hookers without any real understanding of the situation? What happened to, oh I don't know, waiting for some of the actual facts of the situation to come out before we make any rash condemnations one way or another?
I mean I've been hard on the guy as a football player and, ergo, as a fantasy prospect. But that's a huge leap to go from that to scouting for whores and drugs at 3 a.m. and inviting violence upon himself. I guess what bums me most about this thread is that I've seen almost no mention of "I HOPE HE'S OKAY" which would seem to be a pretty base level human reaction to news like this.
The board has changed, Jason. That's the way it is here now, unfortunately --- too many people just waiting to pounce and condemn.

MVN.com story on Walker

The story is a combination of information and speculation for what that's worth ----- speculation about the extent of Walker's injuries and information about what those injuries may mean.

The reports on the extent of Javon Walker’s injuries have been sketchy at best. He was found unconscious according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Jason Jones reports that he has an orbital fracture. Since he was unconscious, it is likely there is a concussion involved, especially coupled with an orbital fracture, which is a broken eye socket. Neither of these bode well for Walker’s NFL future, but lets take an in depth look in what exactly those injuries are.

An orbital fracture is a serious injury in that it means that the bones of the eye socket are fractured. This was the very injury that ended Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame outfielder Kirby Puckett’s career. What exactly does this mean for Javon?

The following is excerpted from emedicne.com:

Orbital floor fractures may result when a blunt object, which is of equal or greater diameter than the orbital aperture, strikes the eye. The globe usually does not rupture, and the resultant force is transmitted throughout the orbit causing a fracture of the orbital floor.

Translation: This is caused by being hit in the face with something bigger than the eye socket, which would cause the bones to break. (OUCH!)

It continues: “A complete ocular evaluation is essential to ensure that no injury to the globe or optic nerve has occurred.”

Translation: They have to check his eyes to see whether the eyeball (globe) or the nerves that translate the information from the eyes to the brain are damaged.
You're jumping to conclusions here.Walker suffered an orbital fracture.

You excerpted a passage dealing with an orbital floor fracture, which Walker does not necessarily have. It is a particular type of orbital fracture.

One can be punched in the face and suffer an orbital fracture. I've seen an orbital fracture result from getting hit in the face with a basketball.

Just my 2 cents as an m.d.

If I didn't already own Walker I'd try to snag him right now. The reports of him being out of shape in camp were twisted and his value imo won't get any lower. BUY BUY BUY!!!
I'm happy I sold this guy in 2 of my leagues last month. The huge risk / huge best potential is off the charts with this guy.It would have to be a super cheap price for me to consideradding him to any of my dynasty leagues..
Look at the post below yours. And two below that. Heck, look at this thread as a whole. People are saying he's done. Finished. Stick a fork in him. This is some major speculation. When people have this mentality they're pissed this guy is on their roster. They want to drop him but because he's a name they can't/won't justify doing so. Make a dirt cheap offer to all the Walker owners. If they don't bite no big deal. But owners are seriously hating this guy right now and based upon what? A twisted report of him being out of shape? Anybody quoting that might want make sure they read the entire thing before they keep attacking him for being fat. He was fine. What else is against him? The fact he was assaulted in Vegas? He was having some fun - whether it was stupid or not is another matter and quite frankly besides the point I'm trying to make. I see no reason for this to affect his on the field production. Make sure your league knows about Walker being out of shape, being an irresponsible partier in Vegas then try to snag him on the cheap.

Willfull ignorance now? Javon admits that he thinks Dwilly got killed as a result of spraying champagne at a bar. Dude turns around and does the same thing. Dude is an absolute moron. :lmao:
If you are going to accuse someone of being ignorant, please, use proper grammar.Dude thinks he's smart. Dude does not realize how stupid he looks by accusing someone of stupidity while dude's grammar is that of a second grader.

Mercy, you're a good time. Do you hire out for parties?

He'll never be the same player; not because of this issue but his injury history. He has a bad knee. I would be willing to bet he's only good for 6 to 8 games this year tops w/o out the smack on the head. Thats why I think he's done. One knee tweak and its over for him, plain n' simple. Can you honestly think he will put up his 2004 numbers or even his 2006 playing in OAK w/ a 2nd yr QB?? I don't see the excitement and I loved it when Denver got him (homer here) but he faded last year with that knee. I'll let someone else take a chance on him and laugh when he puts up the 3 for 30 and sits the 2nd half w/ an ice pack and then let the fun begin with the injury report; Q? P? D? OUT!?!?

He doesn't need to put up 2005 numbers to become a value player. Besides, he came back too early in Denver and didn't fully recover. He had one injury plagued year and you're writing him off?

Two injury plagued years - he also tore his ACL. Not that I'm writing him off.

That's what they said about Lavar Arrington.

MAYWEATHER-WALKER RUMORS GATHER STEAM

Posted by Mike Florio on June 17, 2008, 8:10 p.m.

A league source tells us that there’s definitely talk among more than a few players of some potential connection between the face rearrangement suffered by Raiders receiver Javon Walker and boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Though the rumors don’t implicate Mayweather, the unfounded innuendo making the rounds on the web are that Mayweather and Walker were in a champagne bidding war at some point over the weekend, and that at some point thereafter one or more persons with ties to Mayweather came across Walker and proceeded to pound the living crap out of him.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the rumors among NFL players trace to the Internet rumors, and not to anyone who knows anything about what happened.

As for Walker, it’s unknown whether he has said anything to anyone about what occurred. There’s a chance that Walker will opt for the “I don’t remember nothing” approach, if he has any concerns about possible retaliation.

Per media reports, Walker was robbed of $3,000 in cash and $100,000 in jewelry.

Now, I've not been able to find anything on any message board that was posted earlier than the rumor I had heard yesterday. Deadspin and a few others have picked this up, and it all seems to be based on "message board chatter". Which leaves me wondering if I am personally responsible for starting this rumor, as the rumors that are being reported are pretty much my words, down to the number of bottles of Cristal Mayweather purchased.

I now regret posting this rumor, as the part about Mayweather was simply staff speculation. I specified that in my post, but it is creepy and quite disconcerting to think that something as unsubstantiated as this could be picked up and run with this quickly.

How many condolences need to be expressed here to a player who doesn't even read this board before you guys are satisfied? I'm not a fan or a "hater" of Javon - I couldn't care less about his private life. It's certainly fair comment, though, about what he was doing in the hours immediately preceding this given that he was found in an strange place for a visiting pedestrian, particularly one sporting $3k in cash and $100k in bling. You can be assured that the police are making precisely those kinds of inquiries. Maybe the incident had nothing to do with showers of Dom, makin' it rain or competitions with pro boxers and their entourages. There's nobody here who doesn't acknowledge that. OTOH, we start to see a pattern develop with a guy who happens to have been in a limo with a dude who got murdered after another night with that sort of partying. It's interesting to say the least, and no less speculative I would add than what passes around here for serious football discussion in the ubiquitous Player Spotlight threads.

Again with this. He was a pedestrian? How do we know this?

It's less weird if he didn't walk to the place where he was found?

Being found unconscious anywhere is weird, first of all. To answer your question, I don't think it's weird for anyone who is in Las Vegas to be on Koval. I have heard people say here that it's a notorious crack alley, and that simply isn't the case.

Now if he was dropped there after being robbed, I'm not sure how the choice of location the muggers chose reflects poorly on Javon. We don't know how he got there, although you seem quite sure, for no apparent reason, that he walked there.

My point: You are stating it is valid to wonder (meaning it can be interpreted as a bad thing), what Walker was doing walking in a "strange" place. I am saying that Walker isn't confirmed to have been walking anywhere, and Koval is not really that weird a place for a visitor to be (although, aside from the strip, it's strange to walk anywhere in Las Vegas). You are pretending to be objective, but you are choosing to believe all the assumptions that, in you mind, make it look bad for Walker.

Once more for the cheap seats:

All we know: Walker spent big money at Tryst on Saturday, Body English on Sunday, sprayed champagne, and was found a few hours later beat up.

I meant 2004 his career year. I'm writing him off. He'll be 30 this year playing on a below average team with a rookie QB more or less. It's not a good situation for him. Plus there are the out of shape rumors, his off field issues, and I think he has some mental midgets going on as well (who could blame him?). I feel for him and enjoyed his 2006 run with Denver and was excited for 2007. Knee flared up, B. Marsh took off, and he said he didn't want to play 2nd fiddle, made it public, Shanny said bye! He'll be IRd some point this season in OAK and will be the big shock release early 2009 and out of the league.

Very well put. I like Javon, but some people aren't mentally strong enough to go through what he has. Not a rip on him at all, i don't know how i'd react to a friend dying in my arms.it's speculation, it isn't out of the question that someones reaction would be to turn to drugs/alcohol to deal with the pain.I wish Javon the best luck, but i highly doubt it will be on the football field, he's toast as a competitive football player, it isn't like he's 23 and has years to work things out, he's already 30.My read here is probably spot on, yet i know there will be those who want to be in denial.

He'll never be the same player; not because of this issue but his injury history. He has a bad knee. I would be willing to bet he's only good for 6 to 8 games this year tops w/o out the smack on the head. Thats why I think he's done. One knee tweak and its over for him, plain n' simple. Can you honestly think he will put up his 2005 numbers or even his 2006 playing in OAK w/ a 2nd yr QB?? I don't see the excitement and I loved it when Denver got him (homer here) but he faded last year with that knee. I'll let someone else take a chance on him and laugh when he puts up the 3 for 30 and sits the 2nd half w/ an ice pack and then let the fun begin with the injury report; Q? P? D? OUT!?!?
He doesn't need to put up 2005 numbers to become a value player. Besides, he came back too early in Denver and didn't fully recover. He had one injury plagued year and you're writing him off?

JAVON WAS NOT LOOKING FOR HOOKERS OR DRUGS! That was not the case here. He was in a car and got out of it in that general area. Why he got out i dont know. I can probably assume he was pretty intoxicated at the time. He must have ran into some bad people roaming around out there. I hope they catch the bastards who did it.

i trust you on this and know your on top of the situation somehow. But when i asked people i know in Vegas about it they all brought up how the street he was found on is known as crack-row.That said obviously you know more details (the people i know just knew about the street, not the inside info), so i will trust that the obvious isn't true here.

are you saying Walker was at the wrong place at the wrong time? Also, since you seem to have a grasp on the situation, is the Merriweather allegations viable?

doubt he'll say, but everything he said (even since before any of this happened) about Walker has been true. No clue if he's a friend of Javon or what, but somehow he has pretty good info about the guy.

Wasted Space 25 said in an earlier post (you'll have to find it, I'm too lazy and the thread is too big) that Mayweather had nothing to do with this. He also said it had nothing to do with anything at either club.I think I believe Wasted. And it seems he must be part of Javon's circle of friends somehow, or a friend of one of Javon's friends... anyway, I'm probably being gullible but it'll be interesting to see how/whether the facts all come out.

According to TheDirty.com, Walker spoke to them:

“I was just back at my room and at about 5:30 in the morning I got a knock at the door. I opened it and 3 guys with guns were there. They cracked me in the head a few times, knocking me unconscious. They then robbed me of everything I had; my watch, money, everything! Somehow they got me to a car and dropped me off in the street. That’s what happened.”

Hmmm, well, that sounds....unlikely. Vegas has more cameras in it on one street than most cities have in their entire downtown, so I am guessing if he is telling the truth, the police will be able to confirm it.

ProFootballTalk has this to say:

Our reaction? Perhaps they need to check out Walker’s brain function a little more closely. Because whatever it was that cracked his orbital bone also might have functioned as the equivalent of a lobotomy.

Think about it. Three gun-wielding thugs walk through the lobby and, somehow knowing the number of Walker’s room, show up there, knock on the door, and pistol whip him when he opens it. Then, after ransacking the room, they drag his unconscious body out of the hotel without being detected and leave it in the street.

Also, and as our buddy Jason Whitlock has pointed out via e-mail since we initially posted this item, there are surveillance cameras everywhere in Vegas. So if Javon was staying at the swankiest hotel or at the Motel 6 at 707 Fremont Avenue, chances are that there’s footage somewhere of the marauding gang of thugs who accosted Walker at his room and dragged his unconscious body to their car. The likely absence of such video evidence will blow his story out of the water.

That has to be the worst story I've ever read. Really, dragged unconscious out a Vegas hotel?

Well, let me just say, that happens every single day here. I'm not even being funny, guys get carried right out the front door.

Yeah, but if there is footage, don't you think it would have been brought up already? The only way I see this as being possible is if the hotel staff is doing the dragging out. I tend to believe wasted space's story, but with Walker's story, it's obvious that he was up to no good.

Make no mistake, I am not saying I buy this story. Far from it. I've already gone as far out on a limb defending this guy as my Raider homerism allows me too. Just saying that if I had an unconscious man I wanted to get to my car, I could probably get it done without too much argument from security. As to it being brought up already, I dunno. I have no idea how police investigations go, but it happened not too long ago, and there is a lot of footage to be reviewed at both ( Hard Rock, and Bellagio, where I think Javon was staying). Plus any street level cameras in the area he was found. And we don't know when Walker told that story to the cops. Or if the cops would go public with it. If the cops had video of the perps (cool cop lingo) and their car, best not to let hem know publiclly.

I don't doubt that, I'm saying it's ridiculous because they've already robbed him so why drag him out and into their car? That would just give him more of a chance to identify him and their vehicle, not to mention all the cameras in the casino.

Maybe Al Davis sent them after he saw him on the field and had buyers remorse.

Maybe it was the guys from the Williams thing just 'reminding' him that they can get to him.

Hey guys, im not a friend of Javon's. I have met him a few times through other friends and he's actually a real cool dude. Like i said he is in Vegas ALL THE TIME and doesnt leave any stone unturned as far as having fun. I know this, he left the hard rock. Not sure where Javon is staying but he did leave the hard rock and wherever he was going he never made it. Hard rock camera's will show him getting into a SUV. For a reason that i wont say Javon never made it to his hotel. Ended up on the street and got robbed and beat up by someone or a group of people. I doubt that Javon talked to a shady website like TheDirty. Dude is still in the hospital and i dont think his first interview is going to be done via cell phone to TheDirty. I would never post some non-sense about something like this if i didnt know what i was talking about. I think this is the best message board on the net and thats why i joined. Thank you to the dude who explained to me how to post without quotes.

If you're not friends with him, why are you holding back? :bag:

Police Lt. Clinton Nichols told AP that detectives had spoken with Walker on Monday and planned to speak to him again Tuesday evening. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino spokeswoman Dorian Contrell told the AP that Walker left the club Body English at the Hard Rock about 3:30 a.m. Monday. Police found Walker at the intersection of Koval Lane and Winnick Avenue a little less than four hours later.

Walker reportedly was robbed of $100,000 worth of jewelry and $3,000 in cash. A Raiders spokesman said Monday the team was gathering information and had no further comment.

Nichols also told the San Francisco Chronicle there were possibly two suspects who were captured on surveillance video in the robbery of the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Walker.
If the video is legit it should validate or refute Javon's story.

I havent figured out how to post without using everyones quotes above mine. So none of what i said is directed at the people above me.
You're clicking on the " " REPLY " button at the bottom of the last post. If you don't want to quote everything just look down a little further for the "ADD REPLY" button and you'll post without quotes.
or hit the "+ quote" button left of the " reply button". The + becomes a -.

voila.

If the video is legit it may also help with one of those pesky little details: arresting whoever did it. For some reason that seems more important than a supposed story checking out or not.

"We don't believe this is a random act," Las Vegas police Lt. Clint Nichols told The Chronicle. "They knew who he was and (Walker) presented a target."

Walker told police $3,000 in cash and $100,000 in jewelry was stolen, including a watch, necklace and earrings, Nichols said.

"We did get a surveillance (video) of a vehicle and suspects (who) may have been involved," Nichols said. "We know there were suspects, possibly two, (but) we haven't identified anyone yet."

 You're anonymous. Unless you're pretty well known as a waste of space IRL, then by all means, don't out yourself.

Geez. Give Wasted Space a break. He seems to have real info and is sharing what he thinks he can/should. He doesn't owe anyone else the dark and dirty. I don'y recall him showing a Press badge. I appreciate the info he feels like he can share - which seems to be a lot better than anything else we're getting.

Ok you are right. I will shut it. My bad for giving out info on this. I'll let thedirty.com tell the story.

wasted space 25 has somehow been right on a few things thus far, before the media outlets were breaking the same news. So he either knows/saw the situation or he's close to the investigation. Either way, let the man share what he shares.
