Champagne Wars (with pics) may have led to walker "robbery" (1 Viewer)

Champagne Wars

As you've probably read or heard, Javon Walker was found Monday morning with an orbital fracture to his face in Vegas. That means he wasn't punched, instead it means he was hit with a blunt object, like say the butt of a gun.

The obvious question floating around has been, who exactly did this to Walker and what was he doing prior to this?

Well, leave it to intrepid bloggers to find out.

Kissing Suzy Kolber managed to track down that Walker spent early Sunday morning at Tryst - which is at the Wynn Casino - spraying $15,000 of champagne on people. Maybe not the best idea. He then did the identical thing at Body English at the Hard Rock on early Monday morning.

Then, With Leather went the extra mile and found out that Walker was apparently in a contest with Floyd Mayweather at Body English over champagne buying or spraying or whatever it is rich, dumb athletes do. And according to this message board, found by With Leather, Javon "got into a bidding war with Floyd Mayweather with champagne but floyd had 50 bottles of crystal and won. And later on [Mayweather's] entourage found javon on the street and beat his a**." There's also a nearly identical rumor here.

Javon bought over 30 bottles of Dom, and Floyd won, buying around 50 bottles of Cristal. When Floyd won, he then made it rain, throwing stacks of money off the balcony (The VIP tables are on a mezzanine overlooking the dance floor. Javon was on one side, and Floyd on the other). The rumor making the rounds among the staff there is that someone in Mayweather's crew jacked up Walker.

This is of course a RUMOR. But, some of you may remember that Walker's teammate, Darrent Williams, died in Walker's arms in 2007 after being shot by gangbangers. Williams was shot supposedly because Bronocs receiver Brandon Marshall had pissed off said gangbangers at a club by spraying them with champagne. Walker and Williams were also at the club at the time, and Williams was with Marshall when the spraying happened.

Whether the Mayweather rumor is true or not, and knowing the people Mayweather hangs with it probably is, the scary thing is it appears Walker didn't learn anything from Williams' death.

For God's sake people, don't spray $15,000 worth of champagne in clubs. Not that many of us will ever get that chance in the first place.

Floyd wins

I still fail to understand why Mayweather's "crew" would beat up Walker if Mayweather won this contest. You would think if perhaps Walker showed up Mayweather, then there would be cause to extract revenge.

Then again, I tend to believe very little of what is actually blogged on the internet.

So Mayweather's posse beat the piss out of Javon Walker because ... they beat him in a Champagne spraying contest? The more I learn about this story, the less it makes sense

I know Javon was given tens of millions of dollars more than he's actually worth by Al Davis, but couldn't he find SOMETHING better to do with $30,000?!?!?!

I don't understand any of it
I assumed that I was the only one. When did spraying champagne become cool? I guess I have lost touch with todays hip trends. The next time my five year old son has some of his friends come over, I am going up to my second floor window and spray them down with a 2-liter bottle of pepsi. I think it is important to relate to your kids.

Next time I hear a pro athlete complain about their salary, I'll remember what they need the money for. What freaking idiots.

When I called him a clown for doing this, I was actually criticized in the main Walker thread for that. Yes, if you're blowing tens of thousands of $$$ on champagne which you're spraying on strangers to "party", you're a clown. Sorry, but you are. And I don't care how much money you've got.

Someone actually took the other side of this?

Make it Sprite Zero... way cooler than Pepsi

Yes. Mind you, I didn't say he deserved to get beat up and left in the gutter for it, but for a guy wearing $100k worth of bling it's also common sense IMHO to keep just a little lower profile. The line between partying and making a complete spectacle of yourself - twice in the same weekend, and less than 18 months after your dead friend did the same thing - isn't that fine of a line.

Wow. I would go a lot further and say that anyone who beleives that spraying champagne, "making it rain" or any other completely classless and ostentatious display of wealth is a complete loser. Not just unintelligent, but missing out on some really fundamental things about life itself. Y know, when I think about the priorities of guys like Walker, I think Ricky Williams had it more right than dudes like him. Wanting to meditate and smoke weed and hike in the Himilayas sounds like way better life priorities than getting in a contest with some other ######## to see who can waste the most money in some cheesy Vegas club. The whole club culture is something I just don't get. If I were Goodell I might just make myself the most unpopular commish ever and say if you get seen in any club after midnight you are suspended for six games. Call it the Cindarella rule, whatever. If he wants the league to be a "role model" league, this would probably go further to accomplishing that than any other rule you could come up with. And it's not like players have to join the NFL. If their priorities include this kind of thing, let em go to the Arena League and see how many bottles of Crystal they can afford.Seriously, what a pair of moronic, pathetic losers. They could be doing anything with the money they have and the best they can come up with is competing with each other to see who can waste the most. A horrible, horrible statement on humanity.

You have nailed it. Plenty of people go out and party without the need to be the party.

I think there's a big difference between this and what most people refer to as "partying." Granted, I don't have the means, but my version of partying has never included walking around wasting money just to show I can.

Yeah, that is what I was saying. I have been to low, medium and high dollar parties at various parts of my life. Most guys want drink, dance and/or meet chicks and don't need to be the center of attention. No matter the level though, there is always a handful of people in crowd, who for some reason want to be the center of attention. Walker appears to be one of those guys who can't just have a good time without bringing more attention to himself.

Sounds like ye ole small **** complex to me

THE CINDARELLA RULE!! I love it. When you read stories about athletes partying in the 70s & 80s, they probably partied just as hard and did as many, if not more, wild & dumber things--but now in the 21st century everyone is an instant report--with a camera-phone & the internet. I read this great book with news paper clippings of the NFL's early years, up until the merger... and guys would get into bar fights, occasional shooting, one or two players died from those and assorted accidents. There was even one guy that won the Heisman, was a top 10 NFL pick, and died of leukemia before the season. The "great" thing about the NFL in 2008 is now 48 hours later we can see pictures of Javon Walker, champagne bottle in hand and Rolex on wrist, the before to compare with the after.

I agree...he could have taken that :hot: and put it towards a nice platinum and diamond pimp's chalice

Well, Mayweather retired from boxing at 39-0 (25 by knock out).

I guess an unconscious Walker makes it an even 40 wins (and 26) and still undefeated "champ"-agne.

I know Javon was given tens of millions of dollars more than he's actually worth by Al Davis, but couldn't he find SOMETHING better to do with $30,000?!?!?!
 Stories like this are almost enough to make me want to automaticly side with owners in every contract negotiation.....almost.

Cut Javon some slack, afterall he did nail a whopping 7 on his wunderlich, he's lucky to be breathing...

That's a 2-day old rumor article, with nothing since then confirming it. So yeah, it's beginning to smell a bit funny.
