Javon Walker Week 7 Injury Update (1 Viewer)

Might as well kick this one off early for the Walker (and Cutler) owners:

Shanahan reiterated that Bailey (quad) and receiver Javon Walker (knee) should be ready to play against Pittsburgh in the next game, on Oct. 21.

With the way Denver has looked, I find it hard to get excited about his return. :goodposting:
They looked A LOT better offensively when Walker was healthy. Cutler in particular was playing much better. This is exactly what the Broncos need offensively - to get Walker back. And if you're a Cutler owner you should be happy to have him back too because he's barely a decent QB2 without him.

Good to hear that Walker is back and include me in the group that thinks the Broncos will be much improved with his return.

So when is Walker considered a bust, if he isn't already?Yes, he's on my team.
He produced two 100+ games to begin the season but didn't score any TDs. Week three he only had 10yds, but I'm not sure if that's from the injury or not. In my opinion, the time to sell would have been right when he was injured. Sounds like he's coming back next week so I'm holding onto him at this point. I'd think at the very least he's a decent WR3.

Can't wait to see how he does week 7. I'll be starting him. It's tough going when your 3rd round pick through 5 games is being outscored by Jerheme Urban (but not Lee Evans).

Sorry for the semi-hijack, but it is relevant - does Brandon Marshall's value take a hit when Walker returns, or could it help since Marshall could get more favorable coverage?

Marshall did well in the first two weeks so I wouldn't worry about his production. I believe Walker's return will help the entire offense. Marshall will go back to seeing more single coverage since Walker is the primary option in the passing game so that helps him. Walker's immense talent helps Cutler because it opens up more of the field for him in the passing game. It's not just Walker owners who should be thrilled to get him back, but clearly Cutler owners should be happy as well and I think Marshall owners need to welcome this as well. The Broncos' offense has sputtered without Walker so if he can return and if he can stay healthy this is going to help them significantly. And that means better fantasy production for both Cutler and Marshall in my opinion.

Let me ask a question. Does anybody see Denver's season as being fixable? Can their defense get better against the run? If not Den's whole defense/run game formula comes to a screeching halt, doesn't it? At about the same time Henry departs, if not before?

Or does Cutler end up being one of those guys who has to throw 35 times per game because they are always behind?

Let me ask a question.

Does anybody see Denver's season as being fixable?

Doubtful. The 2 games the did manage to win could/should have beel losses - especailly the OAK game. Can't stop the run, Lynch sucks, about to lose their RB1 and finish the 2nd half of the season w/ a rookie or avg. NFL RBs.

Can their defense get better against the run?

How? D line looks lost. LBs are average. Champ is of course solid, but I don't think Bly that good. Already mentioned Lynch.

If not Den's whole defense/run game formula comes to a screeching halt, doesn't it? At about the same time Henry departs, if not before?

They'll still be respectable, but w/ Nalen gone (huge IMO), and the rest of the problems on the OL, they won't be able to run the way they're used to - controlling game clocks.

Or does Cutler end up being one of those guys who has to throw 35 times per game because they are always behind?

:goodposting: This is why I'm optimistic FF wise (not NFL/record wise). Cutler is a good QB and I think they'll HAVE to rely on passing a lot more - even to RBs out of the backfield. Cutler may even be a nice buy low considering he's (statistically) been just OK so far. Same w/ Javon & Marshall if Javon proves to be recovered from the tweaked knee.
Just my opinions of course, but this team/season is quickly getting away from Shanny. IF it was really there to begin with. I really need Walker to come back strong. I've been stealing wins to get to 4-1 in a dynasty start up league w/ him and AJ hurt the past few weeks.

Monday update from RotoWorld:

Javon Walker (knee) took part in some drills during practice Monday and believes he'll be able play Sunday against the Steelers.

"Hopefully there’s no setback and he’s ready to practice on Wednesday," coach Mike Shanahan said. "He did some good things today." If he's without Walker again, Jay Cutler wouldn't be worth fantasy consideration in Week 7.

I own Walker and Marshall. If both are playing it will be difficult to determine who to go with. Pittsburgh isn't the loveliest of matchups, either.

Looks like good news/bad news for Walker. He expects to play but he's not 100%.

ENGLEWOOD - Broncos receiver Javon Walker returned to practice Monday after missing all but one practice the past three weeks because of inflammation in his right knee.

He is expecting to play Sunday night against Pittsburgh, even though his leg is not fully healed.

"It's a time when we need everybody out there," he said.

Walker rehabilitated at Dove Valley during last week's bye.

"I just have to stay on top of it during the week and do everything to get it ready each and every Sunday," he said.

Just have to wait and see. Walker said he would play two or three weeks ago but ended up sitting out the game on Sunday.

Great... Sun night game... If he's a late scratch, I will be bummed. Given that it's a tough match-up, I might end up sitting him. Too bad my other option--Demtrius Williams-- (due to Driver's BYE) is not so good.

This is from Sportsline

Javon Walker, WR DEN

News: According to the Denver Post, Broncos WR Javon Walker was back at practice on Monday for the first time in nearly four weeks. Walker has missed the past two games with fluid in his surgically repaired right knee. He said he may take it easy in practice this week, but there is no way he is going to miss Sunday's game. "It's crunch time," he said. "I got to be out there."

Analysis: This is great news for all Walker owners, who likely spent a pretty high draft pick on the former Green Bay Packer. Continue to follow his progress this week, but it appears likely he will be ready to go for Week 7, barring any major setbacks.

I have no link, but I will try to find one.

Wednesday update from RotoWorld:

Javon Walker (knee) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.

Walker continues to be confident that he'll play against Pittsburgh, but in a difficult matchup, may be a WR2 play to avoid in fantasy leagues. He'll probably have to put in a full workout at some point this week to start.

Do you guys expect him to pick up where he left off with his production from the first two weeks? I just got an offer to trade Dwayne Bowe for him straight up and Im considering it

Thanks for the post. Since when did official team sites start giving fantasy advice. Thats strange

I'm really worried about Javon the rest of the way... Is it possible he'll play mostly a decoy role (longer than just this week), to take coverage off Marshall, or is that a pretty ridiculous scenario?

Given how bad the Broncos' offense has been without Walker I think it would be foolish for Shanahan to only use his No. 1 WR as a decoy. Walker has to be involved if they hope to have any chance at having consistent offensive success. Cutler has regressed without him and the Broncos have gone 0-3 since Walker got hurt. They need him badly so I expect him to get his usual number of targets as long as he's physically able to go. But that's the question and until we see him play there's no way to know how good he'll be playing at less than 100%.

Walker said before that he'd play and he didn't. Terrible timing with the Sun night action. I'll be picking up a Sun night or Mon night WR/TE as insurance. Other Walker owners may want to do the same. If he's active, I'm starting him. I think he'll be hungry.

I know--that is a concern of mine too, and of course I don't have another WR from any of the Sunday night or Monday night teams... :goodposting:

Uh oh. From KFFL:
