Sad......but true. I tried trading him this week for Colston straight up; other owner thought about it, but passed. With the way Denver has looked, I find it hard to get excited about his return.![]()
They looked A LOT better offensively when Walker was healthy. Cutler in particular was playing much better. This is exactly what the Broncos need offensively - to get Walker back. And if you're a Cutler owner you should be happy to have him back too because he's barely a decent QB2 without him. With the way Denver has looked, I find it hard to get excited about his return.![]()
I don't think injuries constitute a bust - just bad luck.So when is Walker considered a bust, if he isn't already?Yes, he's on my team.
There is no injury report for a bye week.So is Walker Questionable?
Right...forgot they were off. Throws a twist into the IR issues...There is no injury report for a bye week.So is Walker Questionable?
He produced two 100+ games to begin the season but didn't score any TDs. Week three he only had 10yds, but I'm not sure if that's from the injury or not. In my opinion, the time to sell would have been right when he was injured. Sounds like he's coming back next week so I'm holding onto him at this point. I'd think at the very least he's a decent WR3.So when is Walker considered a bust, if he isn't already?Yes, he's on my team.
Marshall did well in the first two weeks so I wouldn't worry about his production. I believe Walker's return will help the entire offense. Marshall will go back to seeing more single coverage since Walker is the primary option in the passing game so that helps him. Walker's immense talent helps Cutler because it opens up more of the field for him in the passing game. It's not just Walker owners who should be thrilled to get him back, but clearly Cutler owners should be happy as well and I think Marshall owners need to welcome this as well. The Broncos' offense has sputtered without Walker so if he can return and if he can stay healthy this is going to help them significantly. And that means better fantasy production for both Cutler and Marshall in my opinion.Sorry for the semi-hijack, but it is relevant - does Brandon Marshall's value take a hit when Walker returns, or could it help since Marshall could get more favorable coverage?
Just my opinions of course, but this team/season is quickly getting away from Shanny. IF it was really there to begin with. I really need Walker to come back strong. I've been stealing wins to get to 4-1 in a dynasty start up league w/ him and AJ hurt the past few weeks.Let me ask a question.
Does anybody see Denver's season as being fixable?
Doubtful. The 2 games the did manage to win could/should have beel losses - especailly the OAK game. Can't stop the run, Lynch sucks, about to lose their RB1 and finish the 2nd half of the season w/ a rookie or avg. NFL RBs.
Can their defense get better against the run?
How? D line looks lost. LBs are average. Champ is of course solid, but I don't think Bly that good. Already mentioned Lynch.
If not Den's whole defense/run game formula comes to a screeching halt, doesn't it? At about the same time Henry departs, if not before?
They'll still be respectable, but w/ Nalen gone (huge IMO), and the rest of the problems on the OL, they won't be able to run the way they're used to - controlling game clocks.
Or does Cutler end up being one of those guys who has to throw 35 times per game because they are always behind?
This is why I'm optimistic FF wise (not NFL/record wise). Cutler is a good QB and I think they'll HAVE to rely on passing a lot more - even to RBs out of the backfield. Cutler may even be a nice buy low considering he's (statistically) been just OK so far. Same w/ Javon & Marshall if Javon proves to be recovered from the tweaked knee.
Thanks for the post. Since when did official team sites start giving fantasy advice. Thats strangeWednesday update from RotoWorld:Javon Walker (knee) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.Walker continues to be confident that he'll play against Pittsburgh, but in a difficult matchup, may be a WR2 play to avoid in fantasy leagues. He'll probably have to put in a full workout at some point this week to start.Source: denverbroncos.com
Given how bad the Broncos' offense has been without Walker I think it would be foolish for Shanahan to only use his No. 1 WR as a decoy. Walker has to be involved if they hope to have any chance at having consistent offensive success. Cutler has regressed without him and the Broncos have gone 0-3 since Walker got hurt. They need him badly so I expect him to get his usual number of targets as long as he's physically able to go. But that's the question and until we see him play there's no way to know how good he'll be playing at less than 100%.I'm really worried about Javon the rest of the way... Is it possible he'll play mostly a decoy role (longer than just this week), to take coverage off Marshall, or is that a pretty ridiculous scenario?
I know--that is a concern of mine too, and of course I don't have another WR from any of the Sunday night or Monday night teams...Walker said before that he'd play and he didn't. Terrible timing with the Sun night action. I'll be picking up a Sun night or Mon night WR/TE as insurance. Other Walker owners may want to do the same. If he's active, I'm starting him. I think he'll be hungry.

Javon Walker will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Friday and be out for "a few weeks," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan announced Thursday.
