Not sure how to judge Fisher now. Fisher never wanted Young and it is tough to coach when you do not believe in your QB, or your QB is not your guy.

Pre-Young Fisher was a very good coach, since Young has been there Fish has been very mediocre.

Bad coach..

6 winning seasons in 17 years.. 1 super bowl appearance where his team lost on a terrible play call, losing playoff record.

Maybe if Fisher knew how to handle his quarterbacks, he'd get more out of 'em. He had the handcuffs on McNair for years, and when he finally had to let him loose, he showed he could throw the ball all over the place, even winning a co-MVP award. And look at the mess with Young (where both parties can probably share plenty of blame).

I've watched him for his entire career. Here are my thoughts:1. He is a TERRIBLE GM/personnel decision maker. 2. He is VERY reluctant to go to rookies sometimes, sticking with veterans longer than most fans think he should.3. He holds onto poor assistants for too long, and doesn't shake things up enough. However,He is a very good coach when you give him the talent...USUALLY. 2010 was a poor year, and the first time I remember a team quitting on him, but then just when you thought they were done, they almost pulled off a shocker and beat the Colts. I think he's been here too long and things have gotten stale. Something needs to change. Force him to axe all his assistants and start over? He reminds me of Bill Cowher BEFORE Cowher got his one ring. Many Steeler fans said the same things about Cowher as Titans fans do about Fisher.Fisher almost won a super bowl, is a solid coach, and will win a super bowl one day.
:bye: I was thinking the same thing. Anyone have Cowher's record prior to his Super Bowl year? IIRC I seem to remember there were a lot of people calling for his head prior to then. Seems like the fact that he won and then walked away has improved his stock considerably.

Bad comparison. Prior to the Steelers Super Bowl win following the '05 season, Cowher at least had them in the playoffs 9 out of 13 years (as opposed to 6 out of 16 years for Fisher), and Cowher had 10 winning seasons out of 13 prior to '05 (as opposed to 6 out of 16 full years for Fisher). So yeah, even if you just take Cowher's pre-SB win record, Fisher cannot touch him.

McNair was never a great qb. He only fourished when Eddie George and the O-Line were carryng the team.

Incorrect. 2003:24/7 TD/INT ratio8.0 YPA (led the league)100.4 passer rating (led the league)co-MVP along with Peyton ManningIn that same season, Eddie George barely broke 1,000 yards and had a whopping YPC of 3.3.

Thanks GR. Why do I seem to remember people crying for his head? Is it the Andy Reid deal where consistantly good does not equal good enough at least once in a blue moon?
