Jeopardy Baby, Ooooh-ooh-oooooh (5 Viewers)

Pretty good showing IMO. No chance against the guy tho.
He played well.  I thought it was interesting that he was fairly slow with his responses and picking categories.  I wonder if James was over there thinking dude let's go!

I could see it getting under his skin if someone did it on purpose to slow down the game.

I certainly was so pretty sure James was too.

My wife and kid noted that he really took his time.  Probably nerves and wanting to make absolutely sure to get "what is" or "who is" out first and not just blurt out the meat of the answer. He's a huge music nerd, so it had to be killing him that he couldn't get in on the "What day is this song" category.

I noticed he got better at buzzing in as the game went on.  I think Holzhauer has an enormous advantage in buzzer timing early on, and by the time new players get a handle on it, they're hopelessly behind.

Exactly right.  I posted earlier that he wouldn't have the same advantage against KJ or Brad.  In fact, they'd all be about equal.

His version of the 4 corner offense going up against Duke.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but for me, the final questions have been easier than normal during Holzhauer's run.

In all of the years I have watch the show, my rate of getting the Final question right is only about 35-40%. But during his run, it's been about 65-70% correct.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I didn't read much of this thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned, but his first jackpot that broke the record of most money on a single episode was also his daughters birthday - $110,914 - 11/09/14. That's other worldly playing with people. There's no chance.

I think overall this is correct.   Some have been like...really, that's the question?  The Bermuda Triangle question a few days ago could have been answered by a 3rd grader.  I mean what else is considered an "area in the Atlantic Ocean".

I was thinking the same thing with the Bermuda Triangle question and a lot of the FJ questions the past three weeks

Doing math? Not all that impressive. Ending with $110K? Ok, otherworldly.

While it is simple arithmetic and may not seem impressive to the average FBGer or Jeopardy champion, I would bet a fairly large amount of money that the vast majority of the population could not correctly do it without a calculator or scratch paper in the time they have available to make their wager.  "Otherworldly" may be a bit strong, but not as pedestrian as you might first think.

wait Jeopardy was on?  dammit i thought they took a night off because the draft.  And why the hell does ABC need to cover the draft.

Established a few posts up. Because it is syndicated, Jeopardy airs on ABC in some markets, and other networks in other markets. So, the other markets got it tonight.

My local ABC is airing it at 7:30 tomorrow night.

It's not just the final Jeopardy questions... Seems like all the questions are easier this year. I know I haven't gotten smarter, so they definitely have gotten easier.

James is great but what does everyone think about his creepy little smile?
I've kind of assumed he's on the autism spectrum. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but sometimes social norms don't come so easily to folks on the spectrum. He seems to really work to smile.

They get scratch paper to work out their wagers.  And more than enough time for it.

He's not autistic.  And I've covered the smile before.  He has an underbite.  His teeth don't meet correctly.

She was awful...and then blew the easy daily double question while she acted as if she were some Monty Python nerd.
Agreed and I was pissed that they avoided 2 of the Monty Python answers.    One of them was probably "It's only a flesh wound".

And I stick with my observation that the final questions have been relatively easy lately.

Full disclosure: I have not watched more than 10 seconds of this nerd’s run. And I’ve had like 8 people ask me.
