He was also way too slow at picking the next clue. That was annoying.Guy in the middle looked like he was looking for snipers or something.
I went with Mick Jagger. If he can be Michael Cane, he can also be a woman rocker. I was at least smart enough to not pick someone who had their breakout songs about the time the correct answer was inducted into the HOF.Pip's Invitation said:My first instinct was Joan Jett but she would have gone in as a solo artist first. Then I arrived at the right answer quickly.
Stringed instrument … not a guitar … uh … uh … banjo!I want to know why yesterday's contestant thought that instrument looked anything like a banjo. She might as well have guessed bagpipes.
I really dislike Winnie the Pooh. And I loathe Eeyore. Probably why I got it.I would never have answered last night's correctly if I didn't have kids...
I have to say that some of the recent clues seem to invite misinterpretation. Maybe they want it that way though.I made the same mistake the contestants did in FJ, thinking “contemporary” meant “another poet from the same time” instead of “anyone who lived at the same time.”
My guess was also Donne.
Ken will kick off the season in September, host the inaugural Second Chance competition and the heavily anticipated Tournament of Champions featuring Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattea Roach, Ryan Long, and many, many more. His initial hosting run will take us through December.
Nope. She's 16 years younger than I am.You are all my contemporaries!
This also means that, much to her chagrin, Mrs. Rannous is a contemporary of Mayim Bialik.![]()
And Milton was more than 40 years younger than Galileo.Nope. She's 16 years younger than I am.
I knew it was an astronomer; I just didn't know which one.
A lot of people are giving you bad answers. Most of them seem to be focused on the anti-vax angle. This isn't the problem.
I'm a longtime viewer of Jeopardy! and I get it from my Dad. When I was a small child, he bought our first VCR (Betamax) so that when he traveled on business, he could have Mom record the episodes of Jeopardy! that he missed. It's pretty fair to say he's seen every episode since the mid 80's, excepting the ones that get preempted by breaking news world events and stuff. As it stands, I've probably seen most every episode in the last decade or so, several of them multiple times--we definitely binged a few hundred reruns during covid.
Mayim is simply not good at the job. She lacks the understanding of the movement of the game to make an effective host. Her timing is awkward--she takes so long to rule on responses that the contestants think that they need to correct themselves before the timer runs out by providing more information, sometimes turning a correct response into an incorrect response, entirely at the fault of the host. She fails to supply supplemental information to explain categories (e.g. "Does the letter in quotes appear at the beginning or in the middle of the word?"). She also frequently makes bad rulings--I can't recall a time there was a scoring change because of a mistake Alex made and I think of two or three instances of Mayim right off the top of my head. This is the single biggest issue--she really ruins the pacing and feel of the game.
There's also a lot of inconsistency in the Final Jeopady! responses she'll accept. Sometimes she'll take scribbles as completed words, sometimes not, without rhyme or reason.
And on top of all of that, her banter is bad. She doesn't contribute useful information to explain correct responses. Her jokes are obvious and bad.
She's just flailing up there. She's doing a bad job but she has this huge, ####-eating grin the whole time like she's 100% confident that she's absolutely killing it. Moreover, she's only gotten worse since she landed the gig full time. It's like she doesn't understand (or even care) that she has major room for improvement, she doesn't seem interested enough in the game to treat it with the reverence that I and many other viewers feel it deserves and she'll never improve as long as she believes she's already doing a great job.
And then for as bad as Mayim is, Ken is just excellent. He's possibly better than Alex. He's such a class act. When he hosts, the show is seamless, it's butter. He understands the game, he knows how to keep the pacing, he keeps things moving, he interjects useful and interesting information, quickly, when it's pertinent. He's as affable as he is knowledgeable and he carries on that aire the Alex maintained of having a proper understanding and respect for the subject matter at hand. You could tell that Alex was always very concerned with getting it right. If I'm not sure how to pronounce a word and I heard Alex say it, I could be confident that he took the time to discover and learn the correct pronunciation. The clues are even better when Ken is hosting--I'm confident he's reading them all and pointing out when language can be unclear or misleading--I notice that the quality of several clues is lower when Mayim is hosting--confusing phrasing that doesn't lead you towards the response they're looking for (e.g. "Are they looking for the actor or the character's name?" or "Are they looking for the city or the person it's named for?"). I don't notice this when Ken is hosting.
Overall, Ken is absolutely killing it, he's a complete natural and the obvious best choice for the job. Mayim, on the other hand, is kind of making a joke out of the whole thing, especially when you look at some of her wardrobe selections.
Wow that got long.
Notice I didn't say a word about anti-vax anything or her personal life or that it's because she's a woman--that's not the problem. It's literally just that she's bad at the job and in contrast, Ken is perfect. That's the problem.
edit: I guess I don't know how to spell. Also, added the link to the comment about her Final Jeopardy! rulings. I'm not making this up.
r/ImTheMainCharacter vibesReddit user u/nimobo on why Jeopardy! fans prefer KJ to MB:
I remember watching that episode and although she trailed, she seemed like a really good contestant as she correctly answered a lot of really tough questions. I thought that she would do pretty well and she obviously exceeded my expectations from that first impression.I also watched yesterday’s rerun, Amy’s first game. She was up against Andrew He, who was not only a 5-time champ but had more than $30K per win. She was trailing going into FJ and won because she knew the answer and he didn’t. If Andrew He deduces that Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton are buried in Manhattan, Amy’s 40-win run never happens. Crazy.
It looks like the "Giggling Moron" took the last spot.
That's why you play the game. I'm looking forward to it. And the host will be Ken, so it's a win for me.Lots of people are going to be disappointed if Matt and/or Amy lose before the finals and don't get to face each other.
And introduced as the host of Jeopardy as opposed to hosting Jeopardy.Welcome Back!
Season 39 and Ken is hosting

From the look on her face, she''ll take that one to her grave. WTF?
I hate it when they bet to lose.
Ouch. When she transcribed it on to her screen she wrote down $1801.
I thought I read somewhere that the contestants had to verify their wagers by writing it again.![]()
Reminds me a little of that woman who couldn't get in the last letter of what was obviously a correct response. Details do matter.I thought I read somewhere that the contestants had to verify their wagers by writing it again.![]()
As I understand it, contestants write it on a scratch paper before they then write it on the screen. They're allowed to do math on the scratch paper but only the amount goes on the screen. Doesn't matter what her intent was - unfortunately they have to go with what she wrote on the screen.
Feel so bad for her, she played a great game. it's like coming from behind to win a golf tournament but then losing because you signed the wrong score.
Recently switched TV providers and since the new one has an on demand feature I did not spring for the DVR. Unfortunately the on demand doesn't provide replays of daily Jeopardy. What is the best way to watch episodes?
Just watched that episode. Thought something had to be off with that wager. Tough way to lose, although she was pretty annoying.Ouch.When she transcribed it on to her screen she wrote down $1801.
Other than a high score in Super Mario Brothers.First person named Luigi to ever pass the 100K mark.![]()
