Stevens is about to suit up this week for the Hawks. (limited role however) The Hawks TE position has been nonexistant without him up to this point, and the Hawks upcoming schedule is loaded with lovely morsels.

I'm dropping a backup defense and adding Jerramy this morning. He'll start for my team this weekend in place of the idle Ben Watson. If he can muster three or four catches for 30-40 yards, he'll meet or exceed Ben's weekly production in 2006.

Thanks for the head's up.

TE is by far my weakest spot (Heath Miller and Chris Baker) and a healthy Stevens should out produce both ogf them in the 2nd half of the season.

As a Seahawks fan I'm very pleased about this. As a fantasy football owner that usually carries just one TE, same-same.

Claimed him two weeks ago, welcome to the bench Mr. Witten(well maybe next week, Dallas plays Houston this week :D )

I snagged him last week. I am happy to play him in place of Watson, and I get the feeling I will be starting Stevens over Watson a few times this year.

I'm also a Watson owner. :( So I need to pick up someone for the bye week fill in and perhaps beyond. I am looking close at Stevens and Alex Smith this week.

I will be dropping Watson for Stevens today, and expecting Stevens to relegate Shockey to my bench for most of the rest of the season.

Where did you see the limited role part for Stevens? It makes sense, but I'm trying to figure out how limited he will be this week. TIA

Monday's smiles came because tight end Jerramy Stevens will play against St. Louis, for perhaps 30 or more plays. It will be his first action since the Super Bowl.

Also from SportslineJerramy Stevens (knee) will play against the Rams in St. Louis in Week 6, for perhaps 30 or more plays. It will be his first action since the Super Bowl. "I'm just excited," Stevens said after buzzing around the practice field like a rookie trying to make the team.

(Updated 10/09/2006).

And from a source that shall remain nameless

TE Jerramy Stevens (SEA) returned to practice on Monday and is expected to play (but in a limited role) in Week 6 after missing the previous several weeks with a knee injury

I like the fact that he was "buzzing", maybe he was getting his Goose on. :banned:

I believe Hasselbeck will look for Stevens early to get him back into the flow. A couple early catches could boost his confidence and add fuel to the fire he'll bring to the field after being away so long.

If not, it's not like the TE position is a goldmine in most fantasy leagues anyway.

I was a little worried when I saw the FBG update on limited play, but 30 plays should be at least half the snaps. Considering that we'll likely be seeing the 4 receiver set on more than a handful of plays for the 'Hawks, that sounds like excellent news for Stevens this week.I have Troupe on my WCOFF roster and can't wait to give him a taste of pine in favor of Stevens!

I know should be in the AC but would one Drop Troupe and Add Stevens?(With Watson on a bye)

I am debating doing this. Troupe has been terribly bad as of late and how much worse could stevens be even with 30 plays? Tenn is so bad troupe may only get that by default.

:thumbup:The Gates owner dropped Des Clark in week 4 after Gates' bye week, so I am going for him to fill in for Watson as my first choice, but Stevens is my second choice. Either as my TE2 might pass Ben Wats by the end of the year.

Bo Scaife - 'nuff saidAs I posted elsewhere, Young sucks in the pocket right now, and the 'hawks need a red zone target bigger than 6' and 200 in a BAD way.Steven is 6'7" 265.

I'm tempering high expectations for Stevens, but since I've been averaging 2-3 pts at the position so far, it can't hurt to give him a try...the way the offense has looked w/o Alexander, maybe he can at least put up decent numbers until SA returns. He's also past his bye (these next few weeks are tough in small roster leagues).

When Stevens returns, we have some math to do.

5 linemen

1 quarterback

1 running back

That leaves 4 more offensive player spots. Are we going to see less 4 wide? Or less Stevens this year? I thought Holmgren was giddy to have the 4 wide option now?

I don't think Holmgren is too giddy about 4 wide. That said, IMO they will continue to show some 4 wide which will limit Stevens a bit. But, hopefully he makes up for that in the redzone.

agree - Holmgren was not giddy about 4-wide. he didn't need Branch to make that happen.

he has DEPTH - which is what he wanted.

Stevens will get 30 snaps this weekend. As that number jumps up, I am willing to bet he averages 5 targets a game.

I think Holmgren was giddy about having 3-wide without Burleson.

Have we reached the thread limit for the word giddy yet?

Any further updates from practice sessions this week? Haven't been able to find any, but just want to make sure Stevens is still progressing.
Guessing no news = good news here. Drafted and Injured listed Stevens for a backup to Shockey, but considering Shockey can't stay on the field, I'm plugging JS in this week. :praysforshootout:

Good question about the 4 wide set. Personally, now that Engram is out they will use it scarcely. Stevens will help w/ the run attack and get his 40 yds. I agree Hassleback will look his way to build Stevens's confidence but he also has to look Branch's way plenty to continue building that rapport. I see that point as void. This week will look more of the Seahawks of last season. Obviously not as high powered w/out SA but will still be solid.

With the problems the line has experienced this season I think you will see a lot of Stevens but he won't be used as he has been in the past. I don't think you'll be seeing those 20 yard skinny post routes Stevens excels at but instead see him more as a safety valve target until the line gets squared away. I think this will eventually happen and then Stevens can be released into his old role. I do see him as a legit red zone target but he will be blocking a lot more than he has in the past for the first few weeks. I think the 4 WR sets will be used but if they can't protect the QB like vs the Bears, I see them using this option a lot less going forward. :2cents:
