Let's go on what we do know. As of now, each accuser is male. If we, unfortunately, find a female victim, then it's open to debate about the psychiatric disorder being the problem.I look at it as a man who was ashamed of what he was and only acted upon his urges with people that he had authority over. Children that were, to a point, dependent upon him and in no position to tell him what he was doing is wrong.

Can you offer an example? I mean really outside of pools I can't really think of where this would ever be necessary. In high school the coaches took showers but not with the team. I played sports my entire life growing up. Football, basketball, and baseball. And I can say that I never showered in the same shower at the same time as a coach. Never.

When I was in 5th grade I was on a football team in Westminster, CA. I didn't last long; I was too small and I hated it. But we showered with the coaches. I can also recall, as a kid, when I belonged to a karate studio and going to a tournament- there were group showers and adults and kids all showered together. Nobody ever was concerned back then, so far as I know - that was the 1970s.

Used to have a jr high gym teacher / basketball coach that would stand in the doorway of the shower and stare at us. Only way to get a towel was from him. Not quite showering with, but about as close as you can get.

I would guess that the bigger motivation for preying on kids who have no father figure around was to avoid getting punched in the face, and to target kids with no guidance or support system, rather than looking at it as an effective way to dodge future accusations.

I don't disagree with that, he targeted kids from troubled homes/family, I doubt he was looking at future prosecutions, but who would even believe a troubled kid over a guy like Sandusky who was an icon in the community?

I'm not going to get too deep into this gay v pedophile thing, but I want people to ask themselves this:

If you are a heterosexual man do you find yourself attracted to 10 and 11 year old girls?

I just don't think sexual orientation and pedophilia are associated, it's not natural or reasonable to be sexually attracted to a child. Now at the point where a child becomes an adult it can get tricky (some ancient and Middle Eastern cultures offer examples, or even in our American urban ghettos) but it's pretty black and white with a four or eleven-year-old child. No gray area, none.

Not saying that he isn't a pedophile. He clearly meets the clinical definition. I just think it's silly to say he isn't homosexual when he presumably only acted upon males. There's been plenty of cases where homosexual men have a girlfriend / wife / family for whatever reason they see fit and act upon their sexual desires through other avenues. To me, there's no reason to think Sandusky wasn't capable of doing this. Personally, I think it's likely. Research might say different, but it really doesn't matter to me. I don't look at homosexuality as being wrong. I am firmly in the camp of people being born the way they are born. And certainly don't think anything but a minute few are capable of predatory behavior like this. This goes for both sides of the sexuality fence. Plenty of straight people are predators upon the young too. What I have a problem with is how people act out based upon their desires. And when you start getting clinical definitions, and disorders labeled to things like this, excuses are being made and loopholes are being created for this swine.
