Jets Assistant Coach Intentionally Trips Dolphins Player (1 Viewer)

Saw this in the game thread, but thought it deserved its own thread for those who missed it. Here's the video link:

That's easily one of the most bush league actions I've ever seen in ANY game, not to mention a professional football game. I'm not a Jets or Dolphins fan but in my opinion that guy should be fired immediately. What a joke.

Complete scum bag move... Hope he gets fined and fired... Jets should be fined as an organization as well...

True. After the past couple of games, the Jets need to find themselves...and quickly.

Yeah, just saw it...

That is one of the most ridiculous things you could do. I could see some scrub player doing it... but a coach?! Wow.. that guys definitely needs to

be heavily fined and fired. That's about the lowest of the low. He's lucky the player wasn't severely injured. Then you'd be talking major lawsuit against

the coach and the organization.

Watched the replay a number of times and still not sure if any real contact was made. If anything the player should get an Academy Award for taking a dive and faking injury.

This. Additionally, it looked to me like he was bracing himself in case there was impact. He had a guy in pads running at him full speed.

That's a reach. Most people brace for contact by throwing up both their hands and move backwards. They don't flex a knee outwards in the direction the contact is coming from. It's clear he was trying to trip the guy.

Well, I think the guy was on HIS part of the field, and the player was off the field of play and was illegaly making little to no attempt to return to the field of play but instead wanted to run down the outside edge of the huge white stripe. IMO, the coach has as much right to protect himself and his territory as a defensive back does vs a wide reciever. Problem is, if he is given the same treatment as a DB, he'll be penalized for a guy brushing off of him and flopping.

I absolutely hate Rex Ryan but I cant see any indication that this was intentional. The guy was standing that way as the Miami player ran off the field and never moved. I didnt see him stick his leg out but I am only going by the youtube clip that the OP posted

What? Do you realize how often players run where that player was? That coach wasn't protecting himself...he stuck his leg out to trip him. That isn't hard to see.

Wow, some real rocket scientists cruising tonight.

Obviously he TRIPPED the guy... stuck his leg out ON PURPOSE and caught him right on the knee. And it's not uncommon for gunners to get shoved out of bounds legally on punt coverage.

I agree with the sane posters... grounds for immediate dismissal.

The guy should be fined heavily and fired, and the Jets organization should be heavily fined, too.

The NFL needs to make it clear that that kind of bush league tactic will not be allowed. I'd have no problem with them making an example out of that person and banning him from the league.

Statement from Sal Alosi Regarding Tripping Nolan Carroll

By Lisa Zimmerman on Dec 12, 2010, 10:00 pm

East Rutherford–Sal Alosi, the Jets Head Strength and Conditioning Coach was caught on camera tripping Miami Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll during the game. The team has released the following statement from Alosi:

“I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment. My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for. I spoke to Coach Sparano and Nolan Carroll to apologize before they took off. I have also apologized to Woody (Johnson), Mike (Tannenbaum) and Rex (Ryan). I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows.”

Expect to see punishment determined sooner rather than later. It is not clear yet if the NFL will also get involved.

At least he did the right thing instead of running from it. Now he gets fired.

The Jets, however, were slow to admit Alosi’s responsibility. Greg Bishop of the New York Times reports that the team was at first pretending it didn’t happen. And Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports that security ushered Alosi away before reporters could ask him why he tripped Carroll.

But now that the Jets have admitted Alosi was the guilty party in one of the cheapest cheap shots we’ve seen in an NFL game, Goodell needs to make sure Alosi pays a heavy price for his action.

We are a forgiving nation. The guy said he was sorry. Why are people so pumped up to see a person fired for a heat of the moment action??

Heat of the moment? How often have we seen a coach trip a player on the sidelines like that?

Disgusting. Classless and pathetic. This joke of a coach should be fired immediately and fined severely. The Jets as a team should be fined and I hope they miss the playoffs. I actually like Rex Ryan but I am not a fan of his team and this only solidifies that dislike.

This coach should immediately be switched to defense. As in, playing on the field for the Jets' defensive unit.

That's probably the best stop anyone in the Jets organization has made over the past two weeks.

:lmao: ?You two can't be serious. The guy stuck his knee out at an opposing player. You don't brace yourself...you get out of the way.

I think they might fire him, not saying he should be. I said earlier that whatever he gets he gets.

There are some things that are forgivable "heat of the moment" actions - this isn't one of them. We don't know the guy personally, but I feel what he did spoke volumes about the kind of person he is.

He acted like an idiot but not long after the game he apologized to both coaches and many players.

I've done stupid things too.

Just curious how you guys propose to collect a fine from an employee you just fired.
The fine will come from the league. If he is fired and no longer working for an NFL team, the minute he is hired by another team, he must then pay the fine. Basically, he is fired and cannot be rehired by another team until he pays the league a hefty fine.

BECAUSE, 10% of us do NOT have a job right now and would give anything to have one (and it looks like 30% of your town doesn't either) and SCUMBAGS like this with a great job doing what he enjoys the most in life, completely takes for granted what he has. He is a SCUMBAG and does not deserve to be involved with coaching professional football.
