Joe Mixon's lawyers release video of RB punching female student in '14 (1 Viewer)

Threaten their life with a car.  Sure that's better.

And if you threaten to hit someone with a car, not verbally but while driving, that is felony assault (or worse) where I am at (Cali).  And I see it happen a couple times a year at my club.
What is it that you want see happen here? Do you think he shouldn't be playing in the NFL?

1) I can understand why the NFL may not give him an invite to one of its signature moments.

2) when someone espouses "second chance",  just want to make sure we are aware he is on at least number 3. Proceed accordingly.

No way I spend an early or even mid 1st rd rookie pick on this guy, especially with such a deep draft.  It's simply not worth the risk.  If I can get him in the 2nd or the end of the 1st I might consider it......might.
I'd take him in the 3-5 range depending on my team, without hesitation.

So ripping up a parking ticket is one of the three strikes now? Get over yourself.

You didn't answer my questions. What is it that you want see happen here? Do you think he shouldn't be playing in the NFL?

I didn't ask you about what the NFL is or isn't going to do. I asked about your opinion.

I would not pass judgement on what I know this far to keep him entirely out of football.  Id let his football skills, interviews and such speak for themselves.

So a team that has as much knowledge as me (which is almost none) should allow him to be graded and drafted accordingly. Including his incidents. He will likely pay for it like a Burfict paid for it by  losing that money and lowering a teams exposure to risk. And the NFL doesn't tread lightly on these infractions towards women. They will go beyond the normal in punishing any further similar issue he may have.  A teams investigators need to do their due diligence.

I don't understand. Why do you seem to be making the case here that's he such a bad dude? I don't think I'm alone in this perception. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I said it was NOT a second chance. But a third chance. Was just keeping it straight.

But you asked me a different question in whether he should be allowed to participate in the NFL. Well... there is difference between BST the forum poster or BST the NFL GM or Judge.

*Quite capable of holding two opposed thoughts.

Why? Do you feel some sort of right to say things on forums that you don't really believe?
Everyone is rolling their eyes at you, just so you know. You're not even addressing his point and even against the straw-man point your argument is ridiculous.

It's all about the payoff for sidelining your morals.  Many people are fine with Tyreek Hill and speak glowingly about how explosive he is.  It wasn't that long ago that he strangled his pregnant girlfriend...

So, if Mixon really is a top 3 RB, I'll take him as such.  And if I was a GM in the league I'd take him in the top 2 rounds.  Morals are important, but apparently not where sports are concerned.

Talent wise he's the #1 RB in this draft but you have to factor off field risk into his value. This draft is pretty loaded at RB too so he's going to fall in the draft. He's probably a 4th or 5th rounder now.........

NY Pots with her side of the story, take it for whatever you want:

http://nypost.com/2017/02/09/victim-in-joe-mixon-fight-gives-her-side-of-story/

“They were like making catcalls at me, commenting on how I looked,” she told the police. “They were talking about Joe, I suppose — I didn’t know who he was — like, ‘It’s my boy’s birthday, like, what are you going to do for him?’ Suggesting I go home with him, making very specific suggestions about what I could do to pleasure him. My first reaction was to laugh.”

The encounter escalated when Mixon made a gay slur toward her friend, Molitor alleged.

“When I said I would never in a million years go anywhere with you, he goes, ‘Oh, so you’d rather go home with that f—— f—–?'” Molitor said. “I got really mad, so I faced Joe and was like, ‘Don’t f— with me. Do not mess with my friend. Just stop, go away.’ And he was like, ‘Oh you’re a bad b—-, what are you going to do about it?'”

After Molitor and her friend walked into the restaurant out of fear, she said, Mixon followed them and appeared to say something to her friend, which caused Molitor to push him. When he made a move toward her, she slapped him, and then he punched her, causing her to lose consciousness, according to the interview.

Both parties were wrong that night

I don’t think that Mixon has had any issues since then and we can all see that he is very talented.

I think someone will take a chance on him and probably be rewarded handsomely if they can withstand the initial bad PR

Most likely landing spots:
Raiders - obvious reason
Chiefs - they can say he's just like Tyreek Hill
Bengals - perfect fit.
Lions - they have nothing to lose, nobody even knows they exist.

Definitely out: Ravens

Not that my opinion is definitive or anything but I think Mixon deserves a chance for two reasons:

1) IMO there's a world of difference between being an abuser of women and getting in a fight with a woman. Of course he overreacted but he didn't exactly sucker punch her either.

2) The primary difference between Mixon and Ray Rice is that the former was an 18 year old kid and the latter was a grown man at the time of the incident. Both are dumb but Rice, being an adult, should absolutely have more self control.

Maybe he can use his position to be a face for anti-abuse messaging. People like it when people learn their lesson and make good on second chances.

He'll absolutely get a second chance, talent always does. I laugh every time someone suggests he might not get drafted.

Yes, he'll get a second chance.

And yes, he's a scumbag.

I'll say 3rd round - normally I'd say OAK/CIN (I know, going out on a limb), but my ***Official*** prediction - NYJ.

You dont know what you are talking about if you think oakland is a landing spot for mixon.

I would give him a second chance if he showed true remorse.

Maybe he could donate all of his first year salary to a victim retribution fund.  I would have respect if he claimed that he had grown emotionally and wanted to express his remorse in a realistic manner.  Realistically he could keep $50,000 for living expenses.  Why do we give people second chances when they rarely show true remorse.

Oklahoma didn't demand anything of him but I wouldn't want him on my team unless he did something that let me feel that he was "worth" trusting.

Sounds like Detroit has an interest.  Quinn, anyways.  Not sure Martha would be on board with a woman -beater, though.

So Mixon and others can't participate in the combine because of character and off field issues.  But Joey Porter is out there running drills as a coach.  Gotta love the NFL

Mixon may benefit from being out of the combine, anyhow.  He's seen as a 1st/2nd round talent, so he can only go downhill from there with bad #'s at the combine.  Also, he doesn't have to answer questions about being a woman-puncher.  Just more time to try and let the issue fade away.

Right now I got him at #2 in my RB rankings. He's a significant risk off the field. That's not going away. He could push back up to #1 depending on how he performs at his pro day.

The coaches across the league questioned why Mixon was not invited to participate in the Combine. It was the NFL that snubbed him.

Oxymoron I guess!

Tex

What ended Ray Rice is what will only drop Mixon one or two rounds in the draft. Fake morals in the NFL, talent of the player is all that matters.
