I was impressed with Casillas last year in preseason. Arguably I didn't see a ton of him but what I did see I liked. Seemed like he had a decent motor and hit. Then his knee foot exploded and he missed the 2010 season. I have grabbed him in many leagues during the off season. He is an extreme by low candidate. What I would like know is how has he looked so far in camp? Is he in the mix at all or has his knee not up to par? FBGs list him as in the mix on the depth chart at Will OLB. The depth chart on the Saints website has not been updated since before Remi Ayodele left for the Vikes. Any love for this guy in dynasty IDP leagues?

Gregg Williams said he likes the way he practices but wants to see him play in games.

On linebacker Jonathan Casillas, who missed last season because of a broken foot: "He's got to prove that he can be available week in and week out. It does not make any difference about his talent. We've cut a lot of players that have a lot of talent through my coaching years. If you're not available then you become a reporter or a coach or an insurance salesman. But you're not a professional athlete. He knows. This is a brutal tough business. This is a production business. I love seeing Jonathan Casillas practice. I'd like to see him play more."

i think he's got a shot but he's competing against veteran shanle or rookie martez wilson. shanle can play either OLB position while wilson is expected to play SLB. shanle isn't a very good LB but they seem to like him, as he just re-signed for $4m/2yrs. not a ton of money, especially in the spending frenzy, but it's also not a 1 year deal either. wilson, for his part, has been playing with the first team since camp began.

Who has been playing WLB with the 1st team?

i don't know and it might be irrelevant at this point. shanle won't be able to return to the field until aug 4 with the other returning FA's.ETA - this is what i found on yahoo sports....
LB Martez Wilson(notes) (third round) also signed his contract Saturday and was on the field Sunday for the first time, seeing most of his action with the first team in the absence of Scott Shanle, who can’t practice until Aug. 4. …

Any updates? FBGs depth chart list Casillas ahead of Shanle but they indicate it is not settled. Any chance he beats out Shanle?
