Against the Bengals, Dizon was fast, but that was about all. He made quick decisions, but was too often taken out of the play, especially by the Bengal first team OL. He looked like he'd be able to drop well in coverage and closed nicely on one play over the middle. I think he's at the bottom of a steep learning curve right now and the Lions haven't been in any hurry to get him snaps with the ones. They like Lewis and have had nice things to say about Lenon in the past.
When Dizon is ready, he'll be in there, but it's certainly not going to be opening weekend. Lenon is no Shelton Quarles, but this is starting to smell like a similar situation. No one thought much of Quarles either, but he lasted much longer than anyone thought with Ruud on his tail. Many of the coaches with that TB team are in Detroit now, notably the head coach and defensive coordinator. You might have to hold Dizon until opening weekend 2009 or longer to see any dividend.
