Jordy Nelson - OUT for rest of training camp (knee procedure) (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Speaking Wednesday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Jordy Nelson (knee) is "very close" to returning, and that he feels "pretty good" about his status.
Nelson himself isn't committing to being ready for Week 1, but it sounds like his coach believes he will be. It's quite possible we won't get a firm grasp on Nelson's status before the Packers hold their first Week 1 practice on September 4.

What is the prognosis longer term? Namely, is this an injury that is likely to linger - i.e. he can play, but will be somewhat limited (either in snaps, and/or speed). Also, is there a greater likelihood of reinjury, or once he's back he should be good to go.

Rotoworld:

According to FOX Sports Wisconsin, Jordy Nelson "didn't seem slowed whatsoever" in his return to practice following a knee scope.
Nelson beat double coverage for an 85-yard touchdown pass, which got Aaron Rodgers excited. "He had to go about 50 yards to get that deep one in the air across the field," Rodgers said. "So it was fun to see him run that one down." Nelson should be treated as if he were never injured. He's an ideal WR2.

Grabbed him at 5.03 on Saturday. He was the 3rd Packer WR to go. This is in a town 30 minutes west of Green Bay and Packers always go higher than they should. I was gunning for Jones later and when Nelson was there I had to grab him.

All reports locally are that he is fine and looking great. If he can keep his legs healthy he could be ready for another top season. The offense will be great even with people worried about the O line. Rodgers has been fine in practice and threat of Lacy running ball will open up the passing game.

Took him at 5.11 of a 12 teamer. Great wr2 and could give wr1 numbers most weeks. $$$. Never could have gotten him if he didn't have the surgery, he would have probably gone 1 - 2 rounds earlier

I stocked up on RBs first, then mixed it up with WRs & QBs. Reggie Wayne was my number WR but had to grab Nelson when he was there. He kept dropping and he was the highest ranked receiver on my list by about 8 spots. I'm glad this encouraging news is coming out about him looking fresh and ready to go.

I grabbed him at 5.12 to start with Wayne as well (Bowe my #1). I was glad to get him there (2 keeper PPR) as my 3rd WR. When he has played the last 2 years, he has been really good and that was with Jennnings, Jones and Finley there. Cobb came on last year, but Jennings was the #1 target while Nelson was there, so Nelson is in about the same position as he was before. The news about him practicing makes the pick even better since I did the same, taking Brees and CJ at the turn in the 1st (Morris and Sproles as keepers). All the stud WRs were gone in the 1st due to picks and keepers, so I had to change my strategy and solidfy QB/RB and then go after WRs/TE (Bowe at 3.2 - trade and Wayne/Gronk at 3.12/4.1).

ETA: Let's stop posting so this news goes unheard. I have 2 more drafts left this week. ;)

Very happy getting him cheap in auction.
Yep. He's going really cheap in most formats, it seems. Got him as WR20 in one league, and for 8% of budget in a start-3-receivers auction. I know people are into Cobb and Jones after last year, but talk about recency bias. Nelson was WR3 in 2011, and last season he had 36/532/5 in seven games before he got hurt. Way too much upside to be ignored.

Just took him at 7.01 in my redraft league here in Saigon, sounds like a bargain right now, knock on wood!
There is no such thing as Saigon.
Given that large chunks of the locals still call the city Saigon, the biggest selling local beer is called Saigon and bunches of cafes and restaurants are still called Saigon something or other you can head back to pedantville and stay there. Cheers.

Glad this news came out when it did.

Took him in the fifth round as my WR3 behind Marshall and White.

Will they ease him back in or if he's ready he's ready?
