Not if I signed a contract saying I can't and then took whatever it was they promised to pay me in return.Uh-huh. Are you allowed to drink outside of work?
I knew you'd backpedal.Walter... I can live w Gordon at 10 if you're a wuss for "risk"
I got him at 5 in redraft this season, but I'd draft him at WR1 and not cry about it.
Several folks where I work were fired for drinking at a local establishment in their company logo'd shirts. Someone reported them (not sure if they were acting obnoxious or anything, details weren't released) to the CEO and they were let go. So I guess the answer is, yes, yes they can.Can your work tell you not to drink outside of work?
But he's still on a cheap rookie deal for two more seasons?I assume once/if he is reinstated, teams will throw trade offers for him.
Like I said... want him to stay, obviously... But I just always felt like he'd be sold for picks.
He is, which is why they SHOULD keep him. I also hope they have the sense to do it.But he's still on a cheap rookie deal for two more seasons?
No, I've been under the impression that they are going 100% by their analytics and cutting bait with anyone who doesn't fit their models. But perhaps this office wants to seriously start fresh. I get that feeling, dont you?
They've signed 4 guys in FA, so far. Still kind of early... And let' be honest, the team seems like they're going to build thru the draft first and foremost. No, I've been under the impression that they are going 100% by their analytics and cutting bait with anyone who doesn't fit their models.
The problem with this approach, is that it's looking like their models have not identified any talent worth bringing in.
Well giving away their only skill talent on offense would be one way to start fresh I guess. He is, which is why they SHOULD keep him. I also hope they have the sense to do it.
But perhaps this office wants to seriously start fresh. I get that feeling, dont you?
I believe 100% that when you are as low as the Browns are right now, you get players that can't go anywhere for 4 years. That's the draft. They would have to overpay for talent right now, and get talent that valued money over anything, I think they should have re-signed Schwartz on a long term deal, but Gipson and Mack? Eh.....No, I've been under the impression that they are going 100% by their analytics and cutting bait with anyone who doesn't fit their models.
The problem with this approach, is that it's looking like their models have not identified any talent worth bringing in.
Best explanation I have seen:Shouldn't we have heard something by now? Didn't the NFL have a window of time where they had to respond? Has that closed yet?
I say tomorrow is the day. Let me call Roger before he goes to bed. Should be fun here tomorrow night. This is taking forever.
I assume no decision works in favor of the player. The union probably goes berserkSo when is the deadline for this again?
And what happens if for some reason he is not re-instated? Does that mean he is automatically suspended for some games this year?
The NFL under Goodell is either 1) very rule of law or 2) they do whatever the hell they want and figure it out/are willing to lose the lawsuit laterHankmoody said:Best explanation I have seen:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000625769/article/josh-gordon-applies-for-reinstatement-to-nfl
The key point I took:
So Goodell could say "Joe Doctor didn't get me his review in a timely manner, so I will take more time" kind of BS to drag it out.
- 5. All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable the Commissioner to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application.

Also worth noting that the onus is heavily on the player to demonstrate why he should be, rather than the NFL demonstrating why he shouldn't be:
So there's no "60 days at the latest" as has been hinted at.
- The application should include all pertinent information about the Player's:

- (a) Treatment;

- (b) Abstinence from Substances of Abuse throughout the entire period of his banishment;

- (c) Involvement with any Substances of Abuse related incidents; and

- (d) Arrests and/or convictions for any criminal activity, including Substances of Abuse-related offenses.

dumbest thought process everI assume no decision works in favor of the player. The union probably goes berserk
Um, you think the Commish fought for the time limit he has to make a decision?dumbest thought process ever
I am asking if he does not get reinstated at this "deadline" I have heard about.Um, you think the Commish fought for the time limit he has to make a decision?
Indulge us all.
At this point he's either trolling his twitter followers or he knows he ain't getting reinstated. I have no idea which..I don't feel good about Josh's chances now. Just seems that something is not right and now Josh is off to Trinidad (how can he not give in to temptation there). If I had to bet, I don't think he get's reinstated, just a hunch. Rooting for him to get reinstated, own him on a few dynasty teams, but just getting a bad feeling.

Not worried about him going to Trinidad or Haiti, but I'm wondering how this would affect random testing. What if he gets called in for a drug test? A missed test is considered a failed test.@JOSH_GORDONXII 8h8 hours ago
Off to Trinidad w/ my mom once again.. Home away from from Home.. Trini x Haitians bond runs deep..![]()

You guys aren't honestly worried, from this tweet... right?
He can be anywhere in the world and be reinstated. Doesnt need to be sitting at Roger's desk.
I believe players in the program are required to notify the league anytime they leave the country far in advance. Apparently this allows the league to set up testing, if they decide to, in whatever location the player is travelling to.Not worried about him going to Trinidad or Haiti, but I'm wondering how this would affect random testing. What if he gets called in for a drug test? A missed test is considered a failed test.
Blackmon continued to get in trouble with DUIs and has obviously kept drinking (and maybe even failed drug tests). That is why he has not been reinstated. It will be interesting to see what the decision is. I don't follow this stuff all that closely. Has there been a precedent set for players being reinstated after a suspension of this type? All I remember is Justin Blackmon, and it seems like Goodell treats these like "three strikes and you're out" not "three strikes and you can come back".
Yeah. That's exactly what I'm getting at. Is there a precedent, under Goodell? Glad I'm not the only one that can't think of an example.Has a player ever returned from an indefinite suspension? Was that what Ricky Williams was? Was that under Goodell?
Some defensive back did it. I think from Tampa Bay, then the Redskins?Yeah. That's exactly what I'm getting at. Is there a precedent, under Goodell? Glad I'm not the only one that can't think of an example.
So you are saying there is a chance!Adam Jones, Michael Vick, Donte Stallworth, and Chis Cook received yearlong suspensions and were reinstated but we're not drug related.
Koren Robinson, Johnny Jolly, Tanard Jackson, Fred Davis were drug related reinstatements.
All were in the Roger era.
Nah, there were none. This is totally new ground here.Adam Jones, Michael Vick, Donte Stallworth, and Chis Cook received yearlong suspensions and were reinstated but we're not drug related.
Koren Robinson, Johnny Jolly, Tanard Jackson, Fred Davis were drug related reinstatements.
All were in the Roger era.
Given the QB situation (or lack thereof), even if reinstated at this time, what are reasonable expectations for Gordon in 2016 assuming a full 16 games?
