Josh Norris ROTOWORLD: Has 5 WRs in 1st rd & not Marqise Lee (1 Viewer)

What are other prognosticators saying about Marqise Lee WR USC? I can't believe Norris has Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, and Kelvin Benjamin all ahead of Lee. I highly doubt this is the consensus on most sites.

I have Beckham over Lee. The other two are debatable. Most non-FF draftniks value actual WR skill over being a great athlete.

There are a lot of good and great receivers in this class.
better at the top. I still think the book on Austin is not finished, but the seventh or eighth receiver in this class and maybe more is better than number two last year. Keenan Allen withstanding, who fell due to his knee.Where do they rank compared to last years crop of rookie WRs?

In a couple of random mocks I have seen, Lee has gone to the Jets (picking mid-teens) and to someone else ahead of the Jets. That seems like a big drop to me for Lee. I can't see him sitting there in the late first round where some team does not jump back into the 1st to get him.

Safe to assume watkins and the kid from A & M whose name escapes me are the other two-

I'd add Jordan Mathews to the list. There are those with more flash, but I think he is a safe pick.

Yes, Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans are the other two.

what exactly qualifies any of these guys draft experts?

also i was wondering how do most of them get paid.

like guys at drafttv, draft countdown etc..

they bring a lot of good information to the table but was wondering how exactly are they getting an income out of this

same thing with sigmund, and the guys from football guys... it cant be that much of an income right?

I can't speak to any of the other sites, but obviously FBG's sells a product...and the majority of their customer base isn't even on this message board, if I had to guess.Pretty sure FBG's makes a metric #### ton of $$$.

I think Lee would go first round but it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't.

Lot of talented WR in the class.

And quite frankly, he had a better year in 2012. How much of that was QB play, I don't know.

Would be nice if the redskins could grab him at the top of the 2nd.
Yup. And we have a history lately of taking players with our high picks who slumped their last year in school (Trent Williams, David Amerson). What's funny is that Garçon isn't a terrible comparison for Lee.

Lee had an assortment of ailments. Knee, ankle. He was beat up all year.

Last year Josh Norris also had Tyler Wilson as his #1 QB prospect. He tries to hard to be a contrarian. I don't value his ranking very highly.

IIRC he has always been pretty down on Lee.

I'll be surprised if Lee falls out of the first. Great production + great athletic ability is usually enough to convince teams.

I think his rankings are poor, but his evaluations are solid. He has a difficult time converting his evaluations into clean rankings.

So he's not worried that teams will have learned their lesson from letting Keenan Allen fall? Both preseson college #1 prospect options that had a down year due to injury. Yes it's a deep class but are too many people over-thinking this?

I think FBGs is a cash cow for the owners, a few years back either Joe Bryant or David Dodds mentioned that the site is valued at $4 million. Bloom was given an ownership interest in the site and Clayton Gray is a full time staffer who IIRC does administrative work here, so they are both probably doing fine. No current or former staff member has ever disclosed what they have been paid, probably due to terms of the employment contract, but I get the feeling that for most of the staffers the pay is not that great.

Adam Harstad had quit his day job to be a full time stay-at-home dad before he joined the staff last year and rather cryptically said a few months back that he wouldn't have quit his day job if he hadn't already quit his day job. Andrew Garda is walking dogs in his neighborhood to make ends meet, despite having two other paying writing gigs with Bleacher Report and Cheesehead TV (suggesting that the combined income from all writing sources is not that lucrative).

I am guessing that for most staffers, FBGs is a great way to supplement their income, but on its own does not approach what is considered a living wage. Just my two cents.

Josh interned with an NFL team and he shows all of his work via scouting reports. like anyone's reports, you can agree or disagree with them, but he has the background and he puts the time in. I'm pretty sure that Rotoworld (NBC/Universal) pays him a full-time rate for draft season, if not the entire season. i believe draft countdown was somewhat lucrative bc of advertising, but internet ad revenue has plummeted. FBG supports multiple full-time employees, and I am one of them.

Most of the FBG staffers are part-timers, so of course it is not their primary source of income
