Julius Jones to come out on goal line (1 Viewer)

Since JJ v McGahee and stats came up.

McGahee as a starter in 12 games:

88 rushing yards per game @ 3.9 YPC = 1400 yards over 16 games.

JJ as a starter in 7 games:

114 rushing yards per game @ 4.1 YPC = 1835 yards over 16 games.

Just in case anyone was curious.
This is what we call giving half information to make a point.
What's the other half?
TDsBTW, that was basically the crux of the thread too as it is in regards to JJ loosing GL ops.
Yeah, he also didn't mention that Buffalo has no real QB anymore. But I get your point.

I still completely disagree with the crux of the thread. They nearly cut the guy, and now he's the de facto goal line back?

I don't buy it.
Gil Brandt, an NFL expert said this, plus Parcells said the same. Why don't you call the Tuna and tell him what you think? :hophead:
Tuna said Losman blows?
When did Parcells say A-Train was the GL back?
post 55
No, that was Da Guru saying Parcells said it...not a link.I think things have changed since Parcells brought in A-Train, given he nearly cut him from the roster.

Now it's you saying this, not Parcells. Got a link to Parcells saying "I almost cut A-Train"...... Somehow I doubt coaches make themselves hated by their players by spouting nonsense like this, got the linky link?

I THINK, and I'm just going off memory here... It was Jerry Jones who said he wanted A-Train to be a goalline back, not Parcells.AFAIK, Parcells didn't even want A-Train on the team, much like Eddie George last year. It seems the only reason A-Train wasn't cut is that Barber has been dinged up during the pre-season and they need another healthy body.

Parcells almost cut OJ Anderson a couple of times too. Motivation for the A-Train to bull his way into the end zone!

I hear the Parcells press conference pretty much everyday and as I recall it, he expects his back-ups, not even clear on which one, will shoulder some of the load, but has not outlined that this one is third-down or that is a goalline back. he has never hinted that Jones will come out on goalline situations (or third downs for that matter), just that you need more than one back in today's NFL. On the whole premise, may if not most redrafters have drafted JJ as thier 2nd RB, not thier first. Even if true, the potential drop in production probably does not take Jones away from being a solid 2nd on most teams, but may lower his chance to be a 2nd who moves into the category of a first. Will that difference matter to you? Well, I don't know.

Julius Jones will get a least some of the goal line work. He'll likely come out of the game at least ten times AFTER HE SCORES A TOUCHDOWN! :pics:

As a Charger fan, I hope the Cowboys pull their best offensive player out of the game in goal line situations this Sunday. I doubt they will, though.

:goodposting: Just like the Fantasy rule of "never bench your studs", in real football, its always get the ball to your playmakers at crucial times of the game.

Another player who may come out on goal-line plays is Julius Jones of Dallas in favor of Anthony Thomas. Also remember in 2004 that Jacksonville's Fred Taylor came out in goal-line situations.

This is from Gil Brandt. Usually I'd dismiss this kind of talk but Gil isn't the type to spout nonsense. I wouldn't draft Julius Jones at his current ADP.
WRONG.

This is the infamous, perpetually mediocre, injured and slow-footed A-TRAIN! Do you people really think he's a better goal line back than JULIUS FREAKIN' JONES?

Sure, he'll be nice to have if Jones is winded at the goal line. But I don't see him vulturing more than 2 or 3 TDs over the year.

(Yes, I'm a Jones owner. And, no, I haven't lost one second of sleep over this sky-is-falling thread.)
How in the world could a half a year wonder be occasionally replaced by a former Rookie Of the Year? Impossible I say.
Didn't William Green perform well the 2nd half of his rookie season also?
And McGahee
Green: 887/6 IN 16 GAMESMcGahee: 1128/13 IN 12 GAMES (with significant # of carries, 16 total)

J. Jones: 819/7 IN 7 GAMES

Which doesn't belong? :own3d:
:own3d: :own3d: :own3d:
I'm sorry, but this has to be the worst case of spinning stats to fit your arguement I've ever seen. Just how stupid do you think we are? Sure Willie Green put up those numbers in 16 games, but he only started (and saw any significant playing time) in the last 7. He had about 140 yards and 1 TD before that.So really you're looking at something more like:

Green: 740/5 IN 7 GAMES

Jones: 819/7 IN 7 GAMES

Which is a heck of a lot closer.

Even worse is you counted those games for Green where he "played" in getting like 3 or 4 carries, yet didn't count the same ones for JJ at the start of the year.

Seriously, you must think you're talking to a bunch of 5 year old idiots or something.

Yeah, your stats show that Green is worse. Thanks. For the record, considering all the stroking Caddy Williams is getting after getting 140 yds against one of the bottom half rushing Ds, AND getting pulled at the goal line, I wonder where all the JJ love is for a guy who went 93-1 against last year's 3rd ranked rushing D.

In his rookie season William Green started 10 games. In those games he had a total of 205 carries. In the other 6 games (all of which he played in) he had 37 carries.Julius started 7 games he had 202 carries. He played in one other in which he had 5 carries.

You are either extremely biased and trying (vainly) to make an incorrect point, or you're just wrong

Either way, no skin off my back. Willie Green still stinks and Jones still plays for Dallas, so I hate him.
