Lions RB Jones Undergoes Knee Surgery

Tom Kowalski, MLive.com

Detroit Lions RB Kevin Jones underwent surgery on the ACL of his right knee on Thursday and was already beginning the rehab process today. Jones, who will miss four to six months, is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in mid July.

If Kevin Jones could possibly stay healthy for a season, with Martz gone now, I really believe he could put up some damn fine numbers. He's very elusive, but runs with a lot of power in short yardage, he has good quickness... not break away speed, but that immediate burst. I am a big fan of his, I just wish he could go 1 stinking year avoiding injury. I love watching him run.

Of course, this is all based on the pre ACL KJ,... no way of knowing if he'll bounce back completely.

From what I have heard nobody works harder than Kevin Jones. That being the case it looks like he may be ready for next year.

Horrible question, from someone who knows very little about injuries, so bear with me...

But what's harder to recover/rehab from, a LisFranc or a torn ACL??? (Meaning, should there be more optomism for him heading into next season, as opposed to his outlook heading into this most recent season)

Isn't K.Jones a free agent after next season making next year a contract year. I think that might help give him some motivation in rehab.

so kevin jones is going to do in 6 months what everyone else takes 9 to 12 months to do?

sorry but refresh my memory but didnt he have a torn ACL? why will he be ready for training camp? most players take a year and the reports are often 2 to be back to full strength. Why are we excited about jones this year?

:goodposting: He'll be a nonfactor in 2008. He just tore it guys. I'm not expecting much from Ronnie Brown in 2008 and he tore his earlier in the year. I wouldn't look for much out of KJ till 2009 and even then I have my doubts with his 2nd serious injury of his career for a guy who is brittle and doesn't play well banged up.

The last I heard before this news http://blog.mlive.com/lionsinsider/2008/01...ery_out_46.html was that the extent of KJ's tear was not known. Doesn't this now indicate that his tear wasn't as drastic as could be, since they are assuming he'll be ready by July? It's hard to believe anyone can be optimistic simply because KJ is a hard worker. If someone has specific info on the findings of Jones' tear and the reasons for optimism, that would help.
