Outside of the Presidents' faces carved on it, tell me honestly what is so impressive about Mount Rushmore?

I don't know but those are some giant, awesome faces

The rest of the mountain, under the faces, is flat in spots, and unevenly jagged in others. The rear view is VERY unimpressive. I would say that the portion of the mountain below the faces, on the awesome mountain scale, is a 5, AT BEST.
