Keeper League Rules (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Anyone have a great & simple keeper league....a keeper league where you can keep 3 or 4 players preferably. Our league has a 3-headed monster (3 owners) as commissioners and we all can't seem to agree on the rules...the other two are trying to make rocket science out of this whole keeper league and I just want to keep it simple! If anyone could post your league's keeper rules, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks for your advice in advance!

Cheers!

Just do a dynasty and keep anyone, then you won't have to re-draft the same players every season, just the rookies. Simpler than a keeper league.

I appreciate your effort, but we're not doing a dynasty league...thanks though!

We have a 13 year old keeper league. Here are the rules pasted from our website:

# Each team shall keep a maximum of 3 players from the roster at the end of week #17 of the previous season.

# Freezes must be declared a minimum of one week prior to draft (Those teams, not freezing 3 players will have them done by the commish at his discretion).

# One week prior to the draft, each team may only have 3 Frozen players from their rosters.

It actually works very smooth. When we lose an owner or want to expand to more teams, here are the rules in regards to keepers:

Expansion Teams:

* All expansion teams will take over an existing team if they exist.

* If there is more than one, then a random draw will determine who inherits which team.

* If we are adding teams, they will be allowed an expansion draft of three players prior to the draft (Order chosen by random draw).

That is it. Very simple and as commish it is easy as long as everyone declares their keepers. If you don't want your commishes deciding the 3 keepers for teams who don't declare in time, give them none or take the top 3 players off their roster according to your websites top 100.

10 team, 2 player Keeper (copied from Excel file so may not show up the prettiest)

------------------------------------

Supplemental Draft (2 Rounds):

All GM's have the option to tag 2 players from last year's roster as "Franchise Players" which will

allow them to have rights to that player for the upcoming F2K season.

**Franchise Players can only be claimed by one GM for a maximum of two consecutive seasons

**A player labeled as "Franchise" for two consec. seasons by one GM is not allowed to be traded

Any GM that chooses not to retain rights to the maximum two "Franchise Players" will have the right

to participate in the Supplemental Draft. By tagging one "Franchise Player" allows one

pick (end of Round 2) in the Supplemental Draft. By tagging no "Franchise Players" from

last year's squad allows two picks (Round 1 & Round 2) in the Supplemental Draft.

Order of Supplemental Draft will go in accordance to the GM's record last season, and will be

Serpentine format for teams with two picks. Worst to First Order

F2K Draft (18 Rounds):

Once the Supplemental Draft is completed and all 10 GM's have a total of 2 players on their roster,

the draft order will proceed as follows in accordance with the overall record and playoff

results from last season: Reverse Order for all NON-PLAYOFF teams

# 1 Pick (5th Place)

# 2 Pick (6th Place)

# 3 Pick (7th Place)

# 4 Pick (8th Place)

# 5 Pick (9th Place)

# 6 Pick (Last Place)

# 7 Pick (4th Place)

# 8 Pick (3rd Place)

# 9 Pick (Runner Up)

# 10 Pick (Champion)

** The Draft will be a Serpentine format in which the #10 pick of Round 1 will get the #1 pick

of Round 2 and so on….

** Draft Picks can be passed at any time, but once a pick is passed it is lost and that GM

must wait until their next pick is up to make another selection.

** Draft time limit per pick: 1 minute 30 seconds (Draft: 4 hours 30 minutes max.)

~ 6 pack for the Beer Bowl's top scorer (6 pack is the top scorer's choice of beer)

I'm in a league where you can keep up to 6 players, where each player you keep = forfeiting a draft choice starting in round 2. In other words, we do a full drafting round, but then round 2-7 are reserved for keepers. It's great because if you have a strong core you can keep it intact as long as you want, but if you're weak, or if an incoming draft class is deep, you're not forced to keep mediocre players. You can blow it up and start over with more draft picks.

Also, we don't announce our keepers until 10 minutes before the draft begins, so there's a bit of a chess match going on before the draft with players and picks getting traded on the speculation of who might get kept or dropped.

"rookie keeper "

Any rookie player you draft is under your contract for three years.

UP TO THREE PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT (2 or 1 year left)CAN BE CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT SEASON.

Trading of the players with their contracts is allowed.

Rookies dropped by their the drafting them, are free agents......not under contract.
