Ken Hamlin in Dallas (1 Viewer)

I like Hamlin too. He's stepped into the starting job at this point, but there will be pressure all year from Watkins (who is improving) and possibly Davis. Dallas beat writers go out of their way to single out FS as the D's biggest weakness. Hamlin's upside is probable vintage 03 Woodson #s. 65 solos, 12 asts, 10 pds, picks and big plays hard to call.

It depends on the depth of a league to determine how valuable he is. I like Watson's potential . He was playing well before biting on a out and up, getting smoked for six, then burned at the stake by Parcells. He went into the doghouse for too long and that secondary was worse for it down the stretch last year. I'd be leery of a similar situation but this time in his favor should Hamlin falter.

Thats the vibe Im getting too, CC, and Im very low on Hamlin because of it. I have heard that they may use Watkins on passing downs and let Hamlin stay at SS, with Williams as an LB, but I still think teams will attack Hamlin and Williams on 1st and 2nd down, and the Cowboys may decide they need a better coverage safety next to Roy all the time. I agree that Watkins was decent last year for a rookie - I think he'll only get better and may eventually beat out Hamlin even if Hamlin doesn't have any big gaffes.

For more on Bloom's thoughts, check out the Hamlin face-off (Pasquino/UP vs Bloom/DOWN).If the Cowboys are serious about using Williams in the box, Hamlin is Ed Reed without the elite big play ability. In other words, very volatile with many more poor weeks than good ones. 60 solos would be a hopeful target if he stays in that role all year long.

Good points. I agree with both of you, but I "like" Hamlin. He was defensive player of the week a couple times as a rook when I desperately needed him. So since then, I respect. As a 'boys fan, I am hoping he gets back to his rookie form or better. At his best he was a very effective tackler from FS. I agree Watson is a more exciting prospect long-term. I think he's the answer. Hope so. They signed Hamlin for one year.

As far as reading Bloom v Pasquino on topic, well, I am not subscribing until after our draft, gentlemen. :goodposting:

Kind of silly to :hot: with one arm behind your back, isn't it?
If big bucks were on the line, I'd pay for access to leaguemate's rankings and projections. :hot: But that's not the case, and I am all about a level playing field. You can't review my opinions, so I won't review yours.

It's called character, Jene, and I have it for these stakes. :wall:

These are the highest of stakes, St. CC. Your character is commendable, good sir.

As a Seahawks fan.... Hamlin used to be my favorite defensive player until last year. Last year was by far his worst season as a pro and not only were his coverage skills very poor but it got so frustrating to watch ballcarriers bounce off Hamlin and run him over like he wasnt even there. He used to be known for his good tackling and highlight reel hits, but I saw NONE last year as he was still trying to go for the big hit but it wasnt fazing anyone. Good luck Dallas.
