Kenny Britt (1 Viewer)

Bummy knee and bummier QB. Talent and upside make him worth a flyer as a WR3+, but you better have an insurance player to go with on your roster.

Kenny Britt tweeted Tuesday he believes the Titans are "pullin' that Jared Cook card," and that 2013 will be his last season in Tennessee.
Oh boy. Britt is likely on to something — it seems quite likely he'll be allowed to walk in free agency — but his situation differs from Cook's in that he's actually been given a chance to make plays the past two seasons, he just hasn't. Nevertheless, it's an amusing metaphor. Benched for a stretch of Sunday's loss in Houston, Britt has just five catches through two games, and has graded out as a bottom-four receiver in Pro Football Focus' ratings. His tweet, which will likely soon be deleted, will only land him further in the doghouse.

It is not his fault.....His brain only downloaded 10% of the software required to function as a normal human being.

Contract year and week two you are throwing daggers at your team........genius. If he does not "get it" this season he most likely never will. He sounds desperate to make excuses which may be used to cover up the fact that he is not the same "physical" player as he was before injury.

As Britt dynasty owner, I'm all for him running his mouth and getting shipped out of Tennessee this coming offseason. But seriously, can he be a bigger moron? I can see teams blaming part of his lack of production on Locker and the offense (witness Cook's payday). But if he's unproductive, a criminal, and seen as a locker-room malcontent? Hope you're looking forward to a series of non-guaranteed low dollar one year deals, Kenny.

Just think what this knucklehead would be doing if he wasn't playing football....scary.

.

This is the week we all bench him and he goes for 150 and 2, no?
Maybe. He was benched for part of the game in week 2 and still ended up with 9 targets out of 30 Locker pass attempts. He's playing SD this week and SD has looked pretty potent on offense. I have had him firmly planted on my bench in a couple leagues, but I actually might dust him off for week 3.

Think about it this way... Tennessee was either tied or in the lead all of week 2 and Britt got 30% of the targets. I suspect they'll be playing from behind in week 3. If Locker throws the ball 35-40 times, we're talking about maybe a dozen targets.

I'm not saying anyone should start him, but none of us should be surprised if he puts up 7/120/1. It is definitely too early to be cutting bait with a talented player who just got 9 targets, even if he is a bonehead. Chances are we drafted him as a WR4, maybe WR5 so you're looking to either catch lightning or fill in for a bye. I doubt you're going to do that with WW fodder.

Cutting this cancer from my team before it metastasizes
If you're talking a shallow redraft league, sure. But even then I'd give him this week to see what happens against SD's terrible pass defense.
Thing is...his QB sucks, his attitude sucks, his health is always a concern and there are better options on the wire right now. To me, I have the depth to rid myself of this fruitcake because I don't see myself ever starting him. My intent was to draft him late, hope that he exploded in the first couple of weeks and then trade his broken down, pizz poor attitude, lazy @$#.

A change of scenery is needed SO bad. I don't own Britt and never have but just from the peanut gallery sitting on the outside, looking inside, I think if I were an owner and was determined to keep him, I would be praying that every news update said something like "Britt traded to San Diego/Carolina/Pittsburgh" for conditional pick.

I wonder if Belichick would take a shot at another malcontent like Britt. It worked with Dillon, Moss (until the last season), but failed with Chad Johnson and Haynesworth.

Carolina would be a waste - Shula has no idea how to run an offense.
Cam would feed him all day. He's never known what it feels like to have a huge 6' 4" wr target to throw to in the end zone. Only a te and a speedy Gonzalez midget wr.

He can just lift balls in the air and watch britt go get em! A cam owner can dream can't he?!?

They just might if these new kids don't flash something soon and get on the right page. All in all, if we sat down and went team by team, I CAN actually see a handful of teams that might be interested if the price is right. Heck, if he can be had for a 6th or 7th conditional, Jerry Jones might pick up that phone.

I personally think there's a pretty decent chance that Carolina cleans house this offseason barring a major turnaround -- and regardless Cam >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Locker.

Im holding for at least 1 more week (dynasty). In redraft I would let him go.
Why would you cut him in dynasty right before he hits UFA after holding through the injuries etc? That would be a huge mistake, unless it's the shortest bench fewest team dynasty league in history...

Patriots first in line?? How about Jags or Jets? Maybe even Seahawks or Chargers?

Bloom is saying this could be a mix up between Nashville / Tennessee players ... Boyd being released from Vandy vs Britt being released from Titans.

Twitter sources yall!!

While it didn't actually happen today, I don't think it's too far fetched that it could happen this season.

You would think the possibility of a trade is pretty high too... He's definitely out after this season regardless.

What a let down...although I would not like his prospects in Baltimore either. Sf maybe...

Best landing spots for production are NE or Carolina IMO

Why would they not trade him for whatever they could get... 5th, 6th, 7th rounder... rather than let him set on the bench, act like a jerk, and then walk at the end of the season?

I'd rather Balt than SF. Not enough passes to go around in SF. But yeah, NE would be optimal. Carolina seems like a bit of a wreck, but there would be potential.

The other side of the coin is why would any team trade for him considering the health and character issues and the fact that he'd probably only be there for 14 games? He has one year non guaranteed contract next year written all over him.

No one is going to trade for him at this point -- too many red flags to pick up his salary. And unless he goes full out TO on the team they're probably not going to reward him by cutting him early.

I'm not predicting a trade but I don't think the obstacles you present are really that great. You make it sound like his salary is an albatross. After this week he'll have roughly $1million left on his salary this year and that drops just a little over $80K each week. That's not a huge salary for a WR needy team to pay if they think he can help them.

Also any team that might have an inkling of interest in him as a FA next year gets to test drive him this season to gauge their interest. I see value in that.

Titans trading him is addition by subtraction. Remove bad element from young WR's Wright and Hunter, get Wright more snaps in 2 WR formation and allow for Hunter to pick up some of his reps.

Their is one big obstacle to trading Britt and it's not his salary, it's just simply is he any good. I was certain at one point he was studly but since his injury he's just not the same guy, can't get open and not a good enough technique guy to be losing explosion.

It's a contract year . . .

and he STILL isn't putting in enough effort . . .

that's all you need to know.
Extremely good point.

Anyone expecting him to automatically go to another team and finally flourish is fooling himself.
I don't know, playing with a QB who can actually get you the ball down field with some degree of accuracy is often known to do wonders for some receivers.

If I'm SF/NE/Balt/Wash, etc., basically any team with playoff hopes besides Denver, I'd offer a 6th or 7th, maybe some kind of condition that he has to play at least X games or put up a certain number of yards... how are you going to get a WR in the 6th/7th round with his physical talent, at 24 years old... cmon!

it is rarely used, but if britt becomes to vocal in his dissent, some teams in the past have gone the suspended for detrimental conduct route.. don't think it is to that stage yet, but if things escalate, there are precedents (keyshawn?)...

Locker sucks, but Kenny Britt has been a top-5 fantasy receiver with Matt Hasselbeck (Tennessee version), Kerry Collins (Tennessee version), and Vince Young at the helm. Crappy QB play is nothing new to him.

That said, he doesn't look like the same receiver he was two years ago. If he's still not 100% recovered at this point, I wonder if this is going to be a Sgt. Kellen Winslow II type situation where he's never again going to be more than 80-90% for the rest of his career.
