A lot of my opinions come from watching every Lions game. Stats are great and I used them to help form my opinions. But seeing how well he played can't always be shown in the numbers. You also have to look deeper into the numbers and find out WHY this happened or WHY that happened. Example is last seasons total rushing yards. He didn't have a lot of rushing attempts. Only twice did he carry more than 20 times. Part was Martz, part was the terrible run blocking, part was the Lions trailing in a lot of games and having to throw.
He has had some injury issues every year. that is a legit concern. But that does not take away from how well he played last year. If people want to overlook him because of the injuries, thats fine. But to sit and say he sucks, or he is overrated, or he doesn't run inside, or is a poor receiver, well, those things are simply not true.
I post stats because they are facts in this arguement and not opinion. I liked Kevin Jones at Virginia Tech, I felt that him and Lee Suggs would both succeed. However, I haven't seen the same player once he came into the league. You post that he wasn't good in 2005 because the whole team wasn't good.
or
In 2006, he had 61 receptions
....that is the only thing you keep coming back to, as far as a stat. You say that his rushing totals were low because of back blocking and being behind in games.
Don't you think if he was a great RB, that HE would be the reason they should be ahead in games early? or be able to overcome the bad blocking?
His yards per carry reflect him as a RB, regardless of not having 20+ carry games.
You also have not answered my earlier question that if the receptions were designed routes, why was his long reception of 2006 lower than either of his previous two seasons(2005 and 2004)?
