Last game vs the GBP it was obvious that the Lions wanted to establish the run, and that Martz was dedicated to that gameplan. It paid off big time for KJ, who rushing for 93 yards and 1 td.

This week the Lions play a suspect Vikings secondary, and a run stuffing defensive line.

Will Martz try to run this week, or just open the gates and air it out vs that secondary?

I know A LOT of KJ owners sat him last week because the Lions haven't been running enough, only to see KJ go off against a good def.

What happens this week? Are you leaving him on your bench (for who)?

the Packers have a tough-run-stuffing line and I started Warrick Dunn over KJ last week.I am slowly learning that in traditional conference games that have important implications (wild card and such), your studs should play fairly well. I am starting KJ with confidence this week.
 
I would be suprised if KJ gets more than 10 carries this week.

I recall watching a game years ago where Martz was the head coach of STL and they were questioning his play calling and lack of run calling. It was a Fox game I I remember them talking about Martz making a point. STL was playing SF and they ran for a we scores I do believe.

The next week things went back to pass happy.

With the match up and Martz wanting to throw down the field... I wouldn't start KJ.

This is my gut feeling too. But would like to get some more feedback. I think KJ did just enough last week to make you want to start him again...only to be sorely disappointed (a possibly out of the playoffs) when Martz goes to the air this week.
 
They would've kept running if they could've scored more than 6 points on those early possessions. I mean, I think they would've. Martz could do any goofy thing at any time. I don't play PPR, so KJ has been no better than a flex or spot starter for me. I'll bench him for Portis in my non-flex league this week (playoff game).

Detroit's best option is to pass, pass, pass this weekend. If they did anything else, I would be disappointed given how terrible the Viking's secondary is. Yes, I am a KJ owner. He could get 8-10 catches this week. I don't know how many receptions Vikings give up to RBs. I see a line of:

I couldn't stand the headaches of Martz barely using KJ prior to the GB game so I dropped him. He's a good back but he's not in an RB friendly system.

 
FWIW, here are KJ's career stats against Minnesota courtesy of pro-football-reference.com.

2007 week 2: DNP (still recovering from Lis Franc injury).

2006 week 14: 9 carries for -3 yards rushing, 67 yards receiving, 1 TD. This is the game where he had the Lis Franc injury late in the game.

2006 week 5 (@ MIN): 10 carries for 8 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving, 0 TD.

In the pre-Marinelli/Martz era:

2005 week 14: DNP

2005 week 9 (@MIN): 7 carries for 15 yards rushing, 8 yards receiving, 0 TD.

2004 week 15: 19 carries for 79 yards rushing, 35 yards receiving, 1 TD.

2004 week 11 (@ MIN): 19 carries for 100 yards rushing, 0 yards receiving, 0 TD.

The Lions traditionally do not play well @ Minnesota - they have not won there since 1997.

 
he will be coming off 10 days or so of rest....I think he will be ready to run hard......I plugging him in....even if they pass a ton, I see him getting a bunch of check down passes as Kitna has been getting killled.......

 
I'm going to play him over Lendale White despite the matchup, unless Jeff Fisher comes out and says Chris Brown is starting. Then I'll start Brown over him....

 
I guess it really depends on your situation. If your in the thick of the playoff hunt and have a more consistent option

(ie: Ryan Grant,Portis,etc) I would go with them. If you need a miracle and want to roll the dice,go with Jones. I own him and just don't trust that Martz can stick with the run and will leave him on the bench.

 
I have to start him against the Vikes. Oooh fun.

Course it's because of Brenda (Jacobs), and Hooch (Henry), and Sellout (Selvin). But hey, no options is great.
