KFAN in MNPLS/STP CONFIRMING Gus Frerotte will START (1 Viewer)

Jackson is being scapegoated here. I think he's improved from last year, and if Shiancoe catches that TD, giving Minnesota the spark early to get over the top and beat Indy, no one is complaining about Jackson. Berrian wasn't getting open, and Rice got hurt in the second half. I think he's doing a better job of running the offense than he did last year, and if Frerotte plays like he did in St Louis last year, Minny fans are going to be wishing Jackson was never pulled.

In what world is Gus ferrotte the answer? Is he really any better than Jackson? Watching the Vikings, I've gotten the impression it was the playcalling more than Jackson.

Given the fact that they were booing even at missed plays that were not Jackson's fault, I imagine that they are willing to give Ferrotte the benefit of the doubt right now.
It amazes me how ignorant fans are. the backup QB always seems to be the favorite guy. Now I can understand not being happy with Jackson as your starter, but why boo him and make him feel worse; how about encouraging him to help the team win. he is a little better than last year so far (that doesn;t say much), but you also have to remember that part of his game is running and his injury has slowed him a little. Is it possible that they are resting him for a week or 2 and then coincide with him getting in their lineup against a weaker NO defense and Mt Mckinney being back? If so that may not be such a terrible idea if that is the plan

I heard it in Childress's voice when he was on with Pat & Tim on Sirius, definitely not shocked at the official news. I didn't watch Minny much, but when I was watching, Tjax looked ok. :coffee: Think maybe Brad got a call on the red phone from Ziggy?

That it had to come to this is inexcusable.

Replacing a guy that you've defended for two years after week two for Gus Frerotte is the height of absurdity.

I hate Brad Childress.

This was discussed on Mike and Mike the other morning. They were saying pretty much the same thing, that even though Jackson hasn't been lighting up defenses. He has not been given the opportunity from Chilress and the offensive co. to really open the playbook and see what they have in him. He has been kept on a leash and the play calling is safe at best to not allow any real chances to see what Jackson has the ability to do. The kid is yound and doesn't look THAT bad to me...but I guess Minn. fans have their own opinions.

This is just another case of Childress having no clue what he's doing. So lets get this straight, Childress goes all offseason without addressing the clearly questionable quarterback position on a team loaded and ready to make a deep drive in the playoffs. He presumably does this because he's ready to go to battle with Jackson, yet two games into a season that features the same garbage playcalling as the past couple years he's ready to pull the plug on Jackson and hand the reigns to Gus Frerotte? GUS FREROTTE? I'm not at all defending Jackson, as I think he's a longshot to ever become a franchise quarterback. But this decision is just brutal. I've been saying that Childress needs to go since his first year in Minnesota, but his incompetence is off the charts right now and he's proving it on a weekly basis. As a big time Vikings fan, I'd actually accept a 4-12 season to rid the organization of this clown.

One of the owners in my league claimed a rumor that Garcia maybe be traded to Minny. Any truth in that? It doesn't seem logical if they are giving Gus the nod this week.

Anything that could mess with your young QB's confidence as much as this might is not a good plan imo.

:wolf: I couldn't of said it better myself & I also agree with Bloom if Shiancoe would of made the easy TD pass we would be discussing how we're 1-1 & nobody would be blaming Jackson. Although why they didn't go after a veteran QB.. I'll never know..

If Minnesoata is going to yank Jackson so soon, why in the world did they not get Sage Rosenfels when they could have.

The positive side of this is that Gus did prove in the preseason that he still has a pretty live arm.

Still, it never, never, never should have come to this. They've had three years to come up with a Plan B and have done nothing, choosing instead to prove rely on Chili's coaching prowess to mold a kid that needed way more time than he's been given into a starter on a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

Fire Childress!

I've heard that rumor as well, but I don't know where. No corroborating evidence, tho

Since the Bucs Gruden haves given up on Garcia and they are willing to trade him, wouldn't he be an upgrade over Gus Frerotte?

KFFL is reporting it is "for the rest of the year." Well, so was Jackson at the beginning of the year. huh?

I would agree with that. Similar offense, isn't it?

Vikings season = :lmao:
The sky is falling!!!I've seen the Vikes get off to 7-0 starts before and crap the rest of the season away. I'm not ready to give up yet. The 2nd half of the schedule is soft and almost all inside or warm weather. If Gus can manage the game and keep the safties honest (he does have some zip on the ball) The defense might have something to play for.If Gus gets them into the endzone I'll be happy. But if Childress continues his predictable playcalling it won't matter who QB is.

Brad Johnson, who went from Tampa to Minnesota, said that the Childress version of the WCO is markedly different from the one run in Tampa.

I"m sure when I calm down I'll be able to see the glass as half full but until then...I can't believe this bull####!

Dollar to a doughnut the Vikes have already contacted Tampa (maybe before week 2). My guess is the Bucs are holding Garcia ransom, LOL.

Garcia has been with enough teams the run the WCO that I would think he could pick up Childress' version pretty quickly. Childress' couldn't be that difficult, could it?

As a lifelong Vikings fan, I would rejoice at an 0-16 season just to get rid of Childress and give Jackson some confidence. There is NOTHING wrong with Tarvaris. He's played quite well. It's the ####### morons around him that are to blame.

That wouldn't be the first time they have done that. They held on to Simms forever, thinking that they could trade him for something. They even kept 4 QB's on the roster to do so.

He was giving really short, no elaborating answers to all their questions...regarding the Vikes. Like he knew what the boss wanted to hear. When it came to how great his ex-QB star McNabb looked on Monday night, he couldn't have gushed any more. He just went on and on about how he (DM) had the "look" again. But when it came to TJ, it was "We'll see".

I may be way off here, but wasn't Childress on Reid's staff when Garcia was QB for Philly? Actually, hang on - thank God for pro-football-reference and wikipedia - Childress was QB coach til '05, Garcia came in '06. so, gotta be a ton of cross-over? Outside of his stint in CLE, Garcia has played in nothing but the WCO.Just mental gymnastics for now, no indication the Bucs would trade. They held Simms hostage, rumor was in part to keep him off the Falcons roster after the Vick debacle started to warm up.

wasnt Garcia with PHI when Childress was there?Trading for Garcia seems to be the only sane play here. They're not really putting their season on a 38 yr old journeyman with a career QB Rating in the low 70s? Are they?

I wouldn't say he's played quite well, but I will say he really hasn't had much of a chase to do so. IMHO neither one in the answer and the Vikings won't have to go 0-16 for Childress to be fired they'll just have to miss the playoffs, Ziggy has to be steaming after all that money he spent. I hate being a Vikings fan! :goodposting:
