LA DODGERS 2009 THREAD (1 Viewer)

The Dodgers have yet to make a move that improves them. I wonder if they're paralyzed by the whole McCourt ownership issue.
I'm not wondering - they were exceedingly careful with how they spent money before the divorce. Not surprising to see them stuck in neutral now. I know a number of players will get big pay raises in arbitration, and I imagine that's where the Dodgers' money will be spent this off-season. Of course, that means that we'll have no pitching staff whatsoever. I wish the matter would be settled quickly and the McCourts would have to sell, but there's no way that is happening. Some interesting/depressing reading about the matter here: http://www.dodgerdivorce.com/
What a mess.
It does level the playing field a bit in the NL West. Otherwise, the Dodgers would be able to support a much larger payroll than their divisional rivals.

Oh please. :lmao:

You have the McCourts to thank for that. I did read on ESPN that the Dodgers and Mets are the two teams most interested in Piniero, and that they've talked with Kemp about a multi-year deal, though his agent seems to want to go year-to-year. I would be fine with Piniero joining the Dodgers' staff - would be a nice guy to plug into the 4th spot.

Well, the 2010 season is here. I have as much of a clue about this team as I did prior to the start of spring training. :goodposting: I'm not overly optimistic.

I like Padilla and Kuroda for their current contract situations but not hard to imagine either of them breaking down. Think they can make a run for the division if both stay healthy and pitch 175+ innings.

A lot is riding on Dewitt too. Torre and the organization did O-Dawg wrong on many levels. Dewitt having a good season could erase the bad taste left in the mouth of many Dodger fans.

Dodgers have a strong bully so look for Torre to rely on them heavily early on and see how this team develops and limit the innings on Kershaw, Kuroda and Padilla.

Once again Kershaw throws over 100 pitches and doesn't see the 6th inning. Obviously it's only one start, but it looks a lot like plenty of last year's starts.
