Alito was a horrible appointment, but would you rather have Miers or Alito hearing Morse?At least Alito can move away from conservative political positions in defense of conservative judicial opinions; he's more like Thomas than Scalia in this regard. Miers is a true believer. She would have been Bush on the bench. Alito can think for himself. If the negative impact of their respective conservative leanings would be roughly equal (I'm positing, perhaps incorrectly, that it would be), I think Alito is a healthier nominee for the institution. A Court pick shouldn't be a patronage position.

Honestly, I really don't care too much about the Bong Hits 4 Jesus case. In the vast majority of cases, I'd rather have Miers.

I'm about four songs in and I'm both startled and somewhat embarrassed at the effect these songs are having on me. The memories of loves long gone by are nearly overwhelming me. I close my eyes and I'm right there again: a wondrous couples skate under the light of the disco ball. My heart nearly bursting with anticipation and exhilaration.And then the song ends and I go play Galaga.
