My theory is that he's not good enough right now to be a contributing player at rb. They took a chance on him but he didn't improve to a point of their liking during preseason. Is that to say he won't get another chance some day? No, but unless something comes out about character then that's nothing but people guessing because they think he's something that he's not.I could say the same thing about your theory. Plenty of players have been cut before getting a chance to shine. You already know that being a Steelers fan. James Harrison was cut once by the Ravens and 3 or 4 time by the Steelers and had some personality issues.Okay, show me where there is anything concrete about character. It is definitely about his character. Teams LOVE fast. They hold guys for fast and nothing else. Jerome Mathis and Trindon Holiday made careers out of fast. Jeff Demps keeps getting tries because of it. He'll get another shot unless he's out there doing meth (which I guess is not out of the realm of impossible) and I'm going to try and hold him until then.Exactly. Teams will turn a blind eye to a guy who can contribute. To me his is not about character. He's a major project in pass protection and his route running isn't good. He's fast. So are thousands of other guys. Fast all by itself won't cut it.I agree the writing was on the wall in Washington, but you could've argued the same thing about Crowell in Cleveland prior to that fourth preseason game.Lache produced with the ball in his hands, but to not even be invited to the practice squad despite spots open and to not be claimed by another team speaks volumes. The writing was on the wall. "behind the 8 ball" and "coming along at a slower place than I would probably like" are not what you want to hear.

Haven't found anything to support the "character issues" other than a few tweets where people are guessing that is the reason. Washington still has 2 spots open on their PS. Could still add him but they've said they have no plans.
I like the kid's ability to run the football and make plays, but there are clearly other issues at play here. This league rosters dudes you wouldn't exactly want your daughter hanging out with. The NFL puts murderers, thiefs, liars, swindlers, etc on the field when they can play. To get passed on by all those teams after making explosive plays all preseason is a major red flag IMO.
Well I'll back track then and say poor choice of words on my part. His ability outside his natural talents played into it, perhaps in a major way.I don't see where you were attacked. You said "It is definitely about character" to which I said show me something, anything, that points to character outside of guesses by those on twitter who think he's something special whereas the coaches don't agree.
From the little I saw of Thompson in game 4 it looked to me like he was better than Seastrunk. Redd definitely was.
It is definitely about his character.
Just get back to us later.I really don't know anything about the guys character.
My post was reactionary. I disagree with the assertion that his cut and subsequent not being claimed/signed to this point has anything to do with his running ability. I would be in denial to say it didn't have to do with the prerequisite skill set accompanied with that to be an NFL back. Couple that with the twitter echoes of armchair reporters I wanted to be defense when there wasn't really a need to be.It is definitely about his character.Just get back to us later.I really don't know anything about the guys character.

Who has more defenders in the twitter universe, Lache Seastrunk or Jennifer Lawrence?
Hey, he could be a classical guitarist. Anything is possible.Mental case or homosexual? Nothing creepy about those nails. I've just never seen them on a straight male.cstu said:His fingernails are creepy.EBF said:Well I was wrong about this dude. At least I only ate the poison pill in one league. I thought he looked reasonably good in the preseason, so I'm surprised nobody has even given him a practice squad shot. He's rumored to be a pretty big mental case. Maybe that played a role.
My view on Seastrunk from the very beginning was that a small RB who can't block or catch will not be able to contribute. It's a fact in my mind that Seastrunk is a very talented RB but that's not enough. He could not pass block worth a crap. His role would have been to come in on passing downs and that was not going to happen when he couldn't block.
As far as character issues, I've seen nothing reported during preseason by any of the Redskins beat reporters. There's a decent chance that, in the future when people talk about Seastrunk's character issues and are asked for substantiation, they'll link to this thread. Which so far substantiates no character issues.
Redd outplayed him in training camp and he's a UDFA. Thompson could block somewhat, could catch and could run, which is a longer list than what Seastrunk could do and Thompson didn't make the team. Royster could block, catch, and run moderately well which is a longer list than what Seastrunk could do, and Royster didn't make the team.
Seastrunk could run real fast and that's it. Impressive speed, tons of casual Redskin fans loved him for it, but he didn't earn a place on the team.
With the link posted earlier about Gruden saying Seastrunk was slow to develop, it's more likely that he's not on the practice squad due to the coaching staff not seeing as much potential for development from Seastrunk as they see from other players, some of whom are counted on to take a spot on the regular roster this year (Phillip Thomas, for example). My view on Seastrunk from the very beginning was that a small RB who can't block or catch will not be able to contribute. It's a fact in my mind that Seastrunk is a very talented RB but that's not enough.
That he was cut was not a surprise, what's a surprise is that no one wanted to even put him on their PS to develop. That's what signals to me that there are character issues involved.
Promising to see there's still interest for him somewhere. I still think he holds value in a Darren Sproles / Danny Woodhead type role... hell, maybe even as a returner?Free agent RB Lache Seastrunk worked out for the Packers on Monday.
Seastrunk was a sixth-round pick of the Redskins. He averaged 4.8 YPC on 24 attempts and caught two passes for 88 yards and one touchdown in the preseason, excelling in both the run and pass games, and grading out as PFF's No. 7 running back this summer. Seastrunk is an explosive athlete. Sep 8 - 6:13 PM
He'll never be a 3rd down back if he can't pass protect. At least he's getting paid to play football. Let's work on pass protection and cut those fingernails. He needs to get a little bigger otherwise he'll be nothing more than a 3rd down back if he sees the field. I think he can run between the tackles aikin to Pierre Thomas.
I'm surprised at the situation and I recently cut him in dynasty to make room for players that were actually, you know, on a team. Assuming he clears waivers, I'm going to pick him back up.
Huh? Says who? Since when? He'll never be a 3rd down back if he can't pass protect. At least he's getting paid to play football. Let's work on pass protection and cut those fingernails. Oh, and he doesn't run well between the tackles.
Hardly any of that is what I would call between the tackles. A few in the college highlights but certainly not "vast majority." Preseason run 1 was well outside the tackle box. It was a 1 cut on an outside zone run. Preseason run 2 was in the tackle box but was a cut back to the outside of the left side of the line. He's not a between the tackles grinder. If you saw the Ravens game yesterday Lorenzon Taliaferro was running between the tackles.Huh? Says who? The vast majority of his runs are between the tackles
Preseason run 1
Preseason run 2
I don't think you know what "running between the tackles is". What you would call it is different than what it's actually called by everyone else.Hardly any of that is what I would call between the tackles. Opportunity is there. Their style of running isn't tailored towards his skills but he certainly has his chance if Deangelo is out longer too. Someone has to be back there.Stewart w/ a severe knee sprain, and Tolbert w/ a hairline fracture in his leg.
Lache Seastrunk - RB - Panthers
Panthers released RB Lache Seastrunk from their practice squad and signed RB Tauren Poole.
Jonathan Stewart, Mike Tolbert and Fozzy Whittaker are all banged up, yet the Panthers don't even want to keep Seastrunk around. It speaks volumes about the sixth-round rookie's long-term outlook. He already got cut by the team that drafted him, the Redskins.

Maybe that he's not very good and people should stop thinking that if they watch a few highlights on YouTube, they can accurately judge someone's talent? There's gotta be something going on here with him. Just doesn't make sense.
Well, you know, Tauren Poole.Panthers released RB Lache Seastrunk from their practice squad and signed RB Tauren Poole.

Aside from the fact that clearly a LOT of people like how he looks, he was widely considered by many scouts heading into last year as the top RB in the class and a 2nd round pick. This isn't by people who just watch Youtube but this was reported everywhere. His fall was very surprising to many. And even if he's not as good as people think, there are most definitely far worse RBs that somehow maintain backup jobs and he can't even make it on a practice squad.Maybe that he's not very good and people should stop thinking that if they watch a few highlights on YouTube, they can accurately judge someone's talent? There's gotta be something going on here with him. For those claiming the Redskins and Panthers moves are such a mystery to them. I think this is the answer right there. He's the Da'Rick Rogers of RBs -- mega talent, but doesn't have the work ethic and isn't coachable.
Put a fork in his career. This one's over, sadly. Shame on me twice for getting this guy on my dynasty roster. Punt.
Indeed - Seastrunk went top 3 in every devy draft I was in last year (3). Lee/Watkins, then Seastrunk. Solid, competitive leagues, with respected FBG's / staff.Aside from the fact that clearly a LOT of people like how he looks, he was widely considered by many scouts heading into last year as the top RB in the class and a 2nd round pick. There is most definitely something else going on.
