Bears.I'd actually be interested to see where he lands also if and when he's released.
That might be the only place I could see him challenging for the starting gig.Bears.I'd actually be interested to see where he lands also if and when he's released.
IIRC, he doesn't have a roster bonus due or anything, so they can cut him whenever they like. That being the case, it wouldn't surprise me if he is cut late. They also have the unknown of M. Bush on the roster. I think it is highly unlikely, but if he isn't getting it done, maybe they keep Jordan around. They don't need the cap room, and there's no reason to help another team out by releasing himActually there is a reason, it is generally a nice thing to do for a player; release him and allow him to seek his own deal. Zach Thomas is an example. Let's just say that Lamont is no Zach Thomas.Everything I've heard points to the Raiders dumping Lamont Jordan. I would have thought he would have been cut by now. Does anyone know if/when the axe will fall?
He probably won't get a shot at a starting gig, but he could end up as a decent backup or RBBC.
Just read that Rhodes was kept on, but restructured his deal. I'd say Jordan is gone, just a matter of when.IIRC, he doesn't have a roster bonus due or anything, so they can cut him whenever they like. I think it most likely he will be cut, but if the Raiders don't owe him any money till week 1, and I think that is the case, then they may let him dangle for a bit. At least until after the draft. In May, the FA market for running backs is gonna be very poor, I bet.
Does Jordon have a horrible attitude/work ethic or something? I honestly don't know, would appreciate insight from Raider fans. He was the best part of their offense for the first few games last year and then couldn't sniff the field after his back injury. From what I heard he claimed he was fully healthy but Kiffin had no interest in playing him. If that's the case, what is stopping the team from dumping him if they still have Fargas, Rhodes and Bush? Seems like they're either intentionally trying to ruin any chance of salvaging his career or will try and trade him in perhaps the worst market for RBs we've seen in decades.IIRC, he doesn't have a roster bonus due or anything, so they can cut him whenever they like. He had not been fully healthy since very early in the season, and hasn't been in shape since Norv Turner was here. And he was the best part of the offense, sure. As was Fargas when he played, and Rhodes when he played. Fargas was more effective, period. Kiffin played Jordan early, his back started tweaking, and that was it. By the way, that back injury happened on the most pedestrian of tackles. Basically, they couldn't trust his back. So better to give the reps to a guy they know wouldn't blow a gasket getting out of the shower. I have no idea if this is the case, but when a guy is not in good shape, and has back problems, it makes it easier for the coaches to question him.Does Jordon have a horrible attitude/work ethic or something? Also, Jordan didn't keep his mouth shut. He couldn't be counted on, and yet ran his mouth during the season about leaving after the season.
You ask, what is stopping the team from dumping him? I ask, what's the rush? He has talent, just because he is not currently in the plans doesn't mean they should release him if they don't have to. He's a former 1,000 yard back, and a lot can happen to Bush, Rhodes, or Fargas before Week 1. The team needs to do what's best for the team, they really can't be worried about the job market for their under-achieving, out-of-shape running back.
The ONLY reason they would cut him now is to do him a favor. Jordan hasn't earned any favors.
Isn't June 1st no longer an offical Cut day?June 1.
While I agree with you, the bolded statement is a little odd to me. Fargas has hardly been a picture of health in his career, but then again, I guess he was the best option they had at that point of the season. He had not been fully healthy since very early in the season, and hasn't been in shape since Norv Turner was here. And he was the best part of the offense, sure. Detroit. Matt Millen will get him from his old boss. BTW he needs him.Bears.I'd actually be interested to see where he lands also if and when he's released.
