Laptop For High School Junior (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on a good laptop for my daughter? It needs to run microsoft office for school, but other than that she really doesn't use it a ton other than internet surfing and downloading pics from her phone. I'd like it to last into the beginning of college at least too. I was thinking of a surface pro, thoughts?

You may want to look at some of the colleges that she's likely to attend. They sometimes have minimum requirements or capabilities for student computers.

Interested in the feedback, my daughter begins high school next year, looking to get her own laptop for her to do homework, probably get a new laptop when she gets to college. I am computer illiterate, I do not want to run to Best Buy and get one of their laptops that includes numerous extras.

Looking at the spec, the surface 3 is $200 less than the surface pro 3. And the performance difference between the two don't mean a whole lot for my high school kid. A surface 3, keyboard, and pen total $600 at Amazon.

Just about any new laptop you get will be more than good enough, and it should last 4 or 5 years and not 2 years. The only thing that would tax a laptop is gaming...

I would take her to Best Buy and have her try out a few, to see what keyboard/trackpad/screen size works best for her.

Stay away from a Windows 8 laptop, but either Windows 7 or 10 will work. Nobody liked Windows 8.
