Supposedly per 810 am radio in KC, LJ has been suspended for this Sunday's game vs. Tenn...not sure if it was by the NFL or KC, or how many games its for... again, just a rumor as no one else is reporting this..

I am listening to 810 am right now via the Web, and they are not stating anything regarding this...instead they are talking to Brian Waters and nothing is being stated about it

Well this is surely true b/c I have no #2 RB to start now. MJD on bye, Jones & Mendy down, Bradshaw useless & Torain not in yet

Johnson's status up in the air for the Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Larry Johnson's status for Kansas City's game against Tennessee remains a mystery.

Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is a two-time Pro Bowl player. Should he make it this year? Vote now.

Coach Herm Edwards, for the second day in a row, refused Wednesday to say whether the two-time Pro Bowl running back would or would not play.

The 28-year-old Johnson has been charged with simple assault and is to appear in court Dec. 3. A 26-year-old woman accused him of pushing the side of her head with an open hand at the Grand Emporium Saloon on Feb. 24, telling her "don't touch me" as he made his way through the club.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell answered, "yes," Wednesday when asked if the league would look at Johnson's situation. But Edwards said the player's status for Sunday was not a league matter. He has been practicing all week.

"I haven't decided what I'm doing with anybody," Edwards said. "He's an active player and I don't have to make that decision until Sunday. Larry's practicing now. That's all we need to know. I don't have to make the decision on what happens on any player until Sunday."

Johnson rushed for 198 yards against Denver on Sept. 28, the Chiefs' lone victory this year. He's gone over 100 yards in two of his last three games.

Just traded him straight up for Warner, right before all this came out... Somebody in my league looking to buy reeeeeeal low...

(KFFL) ESPNews reports the Kansas City Chiefs will wait until Sunday, Oct. 19, before deciding whether RB Larry Johnson will play in Week 7.

I'll bet she's thinking she's won the lottery. Big payday coming. While I don't condone violence, on the face of it, it seems like a CS charge.

Herm's press conference is now. Johnson is not suspended, just deactivated for wk 7 broke some team rules. Per Herm.

I'm listening to Herm Edwards press conference on the radio right now and he says that LJ is "deactivated" for this sunday's game, not suspended. He's not playing due to breaking team rules. He will be active for Week 8.

Get Kolby Smith ready.

Is he the starter this week? Is he even worth starting vs Tenn?

This is from Yahoo!Tue, Oct 14 RB Jamaal Charles is No. 2 (behind Larry Johnson) in offensive touches after running 21 times and catching 12 passes for 166 total yards from scrimmage and a 5.0 average.

I just picked up Jamaal.

Something tells me he will go big in this game against the tennessee longhorns, especially with LJ out!

Both Charles and Smith were available in my league and I picked up Charles. He has 21 carries on the season, compared to 4 for Smith. And Charles has 12 catches, compared to 6 for Smith. Charles has performed well in limited opportunities, and I think at worst, he'll split the touches this week. Best case, they feature him this week to see what he can do with a lot of touches.

KSmith is the better RB talent no question, but Charles is more than likely the RB to use against TN if you are desperate and have no other options because he may be dumped off to out of the backfield after they figure out running between the tackles is not an optionas far as rushing the ball, KC getting 30 yards rushing from all RBs combined will be hard to accomplish

I think the team rule goes something like: "Don't get charged with Assault & Battery and get your name splashed in the national papers", but I'm paraphrasing.

I don't blame the Chiefs for "deactivating" him for one game... but I hope the Chiefs get humiliated by the Titans. Then maybe Herm will see how much they need Johnson, cuz without him, there isn't much going on.

Good points

For me, and I suspect for other LJ owners, this is more of a choice of what options on the bench I might have that would be better than Charles facing off against Tenn.

As poor as LJ has played this year, he's still a talented runner, and I can't see Charles just stepping in and matching the production potential that LJ had - -maybe Chiefs homers can chime in on this.

At this point, more willing to give a benchsitter on my team -- someone like DWill or even Rudi Johnson vs HOU the start -- than risking the start, and the roster space, for a one-game pickup against a very tough D.

LJ is a baby and an idiot, but when does Carl Peterson get canned? That team is a total disaster and all of their star players are constantly trying to get out of there. At some point the finger needs to be pointed at the GM for creating the huge mess. Fire Peterson and Edwards and I bet a lot of their current problems go away.

How would you be able to differentiate a humiliation with LJ and a humiliation without him. KC has been awful with LJ and he only played well against an incredibly easy rushing defense vs DEN.The problem with LJ is that his running style doesn't fit an offense without a good offensive line. LJ is a big bruising back like Jamal Lewis. Opposing defenses know that to beat KC, all they have to do is stack the line and stop LJ until they get a lead and then they know that KC will have to pass to get back into the game and LJ won't see the ball because they don't throw the ball to him. KC needs an RB that is versatile enough to throw the ball to. Jamal Charles appears to be a better receiver than LJ since he's quicker than LJ and can be used like Reggie Bush, Chris Johnson, Warrick Dunn, LT, etc...Note for fairness: I'm not sure that LJ isn't a good receiver, all I know is that KC hasn't ever used him much in this role. So he's either a poor receiver or the coaches suck or both.

Somebody explain to me why this is all an issue NOW. This happened 8 months ago, and nothing further is going on until December in terms of a court date.

??

Didn't Matt Jones get busted with cocaine and has not missed any games? (yet)

Well, there goes KC's playoff chances.

Downgrade all your Chiefs.

:goodposting:
Why? Shouldn't Tony G and Bowe get a slight bump from this? Now there is little to no threat of Herm pounding the ball 30+ times a game.
I'm a little worried about Gonzo this week due to Peterson upping the price to Green Bay from a 3rd to a 2nd at the 11th hour and after GB had already sent trade papers to KC. Gonzo wasn't happy and felt betrayed saying that he didn't think anybody would pay more than a 3rd for a 32 year old TE. If Gonzo is pissed at Peterson then does he start to protect his health and remove himself from the game for minor injuries in order to save wear and tear and make sure that he isn't injured and can be more easily traded iin the off season???

I have watched every Chiefs game this year, and Charles has played almost every snap after LJ... much more than Kolby. However, my opinion is that this is true due to the fact that Charles is a better screen/pass catcher than Kolby Smith, but they did not draft him to be an every down back.

Kolby was also hurt to start the season, which is why Charles played initially.

IMO, it will be a 50/50 split b/w the two, but don't be surprised to see Kolby in on the 1st series of the game!

Herm knows that Kolby played well last year after LJ went down, so I see that having influence on the deicision.
