Because practice makes perfect. Why did Andy Reid give Succop that practice kick?
Nobody I guess. There are a few people that were kept in our dept (all field people). I spoke to a couple of them and they said the new company had nothing lined up for the transition. How is the job search going? Who is going to run the analytic reports when you are gone? You should sit down with the big wig and walk him through the classic analogy you can give a man a fish or teach him to fish.
Unused vacation paid out. Nothing else. Keep in mind it was a bankruptcy.Did you at least get a good package?
Hey, i am in SD this weekend....if you are in the Gas Lamp i will buy you a beer or threeNobody I guess. There are a few people that were kept in our dept (all field people). I spoke to a couple of them and they said the new company had nothing lined up for the transition.
At this point, I don't care. I was happy to help last week. Their failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my part.
As to my job search, I have submitted exactly one resume. I do have a lead from someone I use to work for. There is a position open where she works at a large bank. I will be submitting a resume today. Other than that, I'm going onowhere vacation. San Diego this weekend, Vegas next week. Then I will start looking in earnest.

I'm being laid off (along with approx 2000 other people if you count the 50 stores and one distribution center that closed)Are you retiring, moving on to another job, layoff or fired?

I can't retire yet. If I was 10 years older I would. I could probably swing it financially, but I get bored pretty easily. (And would find some way you spend money or get in trouble)
What I am going to do is find a job that I want. I don't care if it pays $25k or $125k. It will check all ( or most) of the boxes or I won't take it.
Thanks buddy. I'm in a good place.Good luck... I hope you find your Nirvana
No. I have bigger fish to fry now.Did you leave some microwaved fish as a parting gift?
Do you know what type of job you want yet? What I am going to do is find a job that I want. I don't care if it pays $25k or $125k. It will check all ( or most) of the boxes or I won't take it.
Thanks. I left two days earlier than everyone else. Partly because I am going on vacation, and partly because the place is going to be pretty depressing on Friday. One of the few people I said goodbye to started crying. I'm not great dealing with situations like that.So semi retirement has officially begun, Congrats! A little disappointing that there were not more fireworks throughout the day but whatever.
That's a great question. When you remove salary expectations it opens up a lot of possibilities. Which is why I haven't rushed into anything. I spent 15 years running my own vending business and 12 years in retail loss prevention/fraud. I'm pretty sure I don't want to work in retail any longer. (too much uncertainty). This vacation is going to give me some time to contemplate my next move. My wife and daughter are driving out with me. They fly back Monday night. Tuesday I head to Vegas for a few days. Then I'm going to make my way back to Omaha.Do you know what type of job you want yet?
Are you in the KC area? Might be able to help you out with some ideas.
No. This was discussed in the other thread. It is (was?) Gordmans. Midwest retail chain of 100 stores. Stage stores now owns half of them.Gander Mountain?
how do you feel today? No. This was discussed in the other thread. It is (was?) Gordmans. Midwest retail chain of 100 stores. Stage stores now owns half of them.
Did you steal any office supplies on the way out?
KCitons said:Very little. This company is pretty cheap. They have a long line of Rubbermaid tubs lined up down the hall. We are suppose to separate all of our office supplies and place them it the correct container. (So the liquidator can sell them for a quarter a bin?).
Thanks. I feel pretty good. With getting ready for this trip it just feels like I'm on vacation. Give it a couple of weeks (once the boredom sets in) and ask me again.how do you feel today?
best of luck with what comes next.
I was awake at 4:30, got up about 5:15.What time did you get up this morning?

Ahem. That's my spiel.I don't sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I dont sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't do that.
Why so early on your first day off?I was awake at 4:30, got up about 5:15.
Because my internal alarm clock didn't get the memo. Why so early on your first day off?
